    Drains

Had it just over a week. All depends on your surgeon's protocol.
  2. I just wanted to say that I am 3 months out, and I'm still hungry every 2-3 hours. It's not head hunger, and it's not acid (I've taken a PPI all along). That said, I've still lost 50 lbs since my surgery. I was also hoping I would never be hungry, but apparently that doesn't happen for all of us. It sucks that the hunger makes me think about food more often than I would like! But as long as you're focusing on your healthy Proteins, you will still lose weight. I find that meat and/or cheese keep me feeling full longer. (Protein drinks and yogurt, while they have high protein, seem to digest faster for me, leaving me hungry sooner.) I think the most important thing is just having healthy Snacks and drinks with you wherever you go, so the hunger doesn't tempt you into eating something you shouldn't!
  3. Losing weight will probably help your periods become more regular - I have lost 80 pounds since last summer, and mine are starting to come back. I hadn't had a period on my own for maybe 4-5 years. (But per my doctor, I was taking some progesterone every few months to induce a period, since it is supposedly not safe for the uterine lining to build up too much. You might want to check with your doc on that.) Even if you do have PCOS, you should still be able to have children, you just might need a little extra help. My periods had stopped by the time we were ready for child #2, so I went to a fertility specialist. He diagnosed me with PCOS and put me on Clomid (a monthly pill to make you ovulate). I was pregnant within a couple of months. Good luck to you!

    Staples After Surgery

I also had staples for 9 days, but they never really bothered me. Are you still taking ibuprofren or other pain meds? Does that help? The good news is that it doesn't hurt to remove the staples. Best of luck to you!

    Sugar free Popsicles!?

What brands of sugar free popsicles are out there? I'm having trouble finding them in the store...

    Surgery Questions

I had a drain for a week. My surgeon said some docs keep it in even longer. It all depends on your surgeon's protocol. It is inserted during surgery, and it was kind of annoying and uncomfortable for that week, but not really painful. I agree with sharonintx - removing the drain wasn't really painful, but very WEIRD. My surgeon pulled it out quickly in his office, my belly cramped suddenly, and then it was over.

    Gall bladder or c section?

I really had very little pain from the sleeve surgery, and was mostly back to normal in a week, when they took the drain out. I have had two c-sections, and would say they were waaaaay worse in terms of pain and recovery time.

    Toradol after surgery

I also received toradol while in the hospital, and didn't notice any side effects. It was way better than the morphine pump, which made me feel too loopy.
  9. Webchickadee- you may be onto something with the omeprazole... I came home with a liquid version, and it's so disgusting that I have been a bit lax with the daily dosage lately. But maybe I can take the pills now? That would be much better. It seems that I was a bit hungry when I first came home and I was still taking it religiously, but it's worth a try. I haven't been tracking my Fluid intake, either, so there could be something to that as well. It's just weird. It really feels like hunger, so I'm thinking about food way more than I would like to.
  10. Hi folks, I'm a newbie to the site, but have been stalking for a while, and I read that post-surgery many people do not feel hunger, have aversions to unhealthy foods, etc. I was really hoping for that, but it hasn't been the case! I was sleeved on March 18th and have lost 21 lbs since then (over 50 lbs including the pre-op diet), so my weight loss is good and I shouldn't complain. I'm currently in the blended phase (with a few forays into "soft" foods), getting around 60 grams of Protein and 600-700 calories a day. But I'm frequently hungry - not "head" hungry, but stomach-aching hungry. Sometimes I stop eating because it feels like food is getting stuck near the top of my sleeve, but the pit of my stomach still feels "hungry." I have also never felt any nausea when eating, and no problems with or aversions to any foods. I'm worried that the hunger and lack of other symptoms will make it hard for me to keep losing weight, and maintaining it in the long run. Are there any other post-op sleevers out there who are frequently hungry? How do you deal with it? Have you been successful with long-term weight loss? Any tips? Thanks for any advice!
