  1. Ok, so I'm a boredom eater (and stress eater, and emotional, and on and on.) I would like a list of AWESOME things to do to fill my mind and time so that I can stop thinking about food. So far I have : read a book, go outside, relax or exercise. This list pretty much sucks. Please feel free to share your tips for filling your time and not your face!!

    LIST OF AWESOME

    Yes!! These are all great!!
  3. I'm with everyone. I think the PPI's (omeprazol 20 days for me, prilosec, etc) are just to teach your teeny new tummy to stop producing as much acid as it once did before cause too much is a bad thing. I was told no tums until week 4, so this is the alternative. I forgot to take it one night and woke up with gross reflux, so I'm not gonna chance it anymore.
  4. Has anyone said it yet.... You can LOVE someone you're in a bad relationship with too, but that doesn't mean it's healthy.... I agree... We've all got to work on being friends with food -and setting solid boundaries.

    Where is the ecuadorian faker?!

I totally missed this fun. But... someone tattle-taled?? Hahah... I'm not endorsing fraud, but we all know what it's like to be desperate to lose weight. I know that I used to lie all the time about where the box of viva puffs went. ok, ok, a little different. But still.

    Sleeved may 21st

I know, it does seem crazy when other people are eating Protien or soft foods 4 days out.... I don't really get it, but I'll do what I'm told. Then, when I'm completely bald in 4 months time, I'll post something on here about it and you can all talk me through it. Mmmkay?
  7. I've heard this happens quite a lot. I know of 2 people claiming miraculous results from 'body by Vi', getting commission from sales, but actually having WLS. Celebrities too. Hey....maybe we should all create a new weight loss supplement too!!!! Jusy sayin' if you can't beat 'em.... KIDDDING....

    Sleeved may 21st

My surgeon says absolutely NO Protien (only clear liquids) for 2 weeks after surgery. Patients have developed late leaks because of drinking Protien, which can turn to a solid in your stomach. 2 weeks without Protien seems to have been fine for her 2500+ VSG patients, especially since the pre-op was really high Protien but everyone's plan is different. Staying hydrated is the most important thing.

    I dream I eat?

This happened to me EVERY night during my pre-op phase, but I haven't had ANY dreams of food since surgery 10 days ago! (except for one about eating some gross mush last night) I kept waking up thinking I had 'cheated' and eaten something I shouldn't have!! So weird.... but i agree -delicious dreams are calorie free!!!
  10. Whoa... sorry, don't know why the blank post!! I was trying to copy and paste this great list!!
  11. I can't wait to get to that place, mentally. For some reason my family decided to Cook/eat my favorite foods this week while I'm on clear liquids!!! Gahhhh!!!! I've never been a murderer before, but I swear if someone cooks garlic, or bacon one more time, I'm gonna snap!! haha... bring on the size 4's!! How long has it been since your surgery???
  12. Ok, I'll share this, but I know people may have strong opinions. I had a BMI of 30.9 pre op, but day of surgery was 29.0. I'm 5'2 (ish) and have lost 21 lbs since May 1st. So my BMI is around 27??? 28??? I was on the low end for qualifying for surgery BUT I've had a BMI of 36, (and as low as 23). I have gained and lost 300 lbs in less than 5 years, and over 500lbs in the past 8. I was TIRED of losing and gaining the same 60 lbs, so that's why I did this surgery. Add on: I'm not really sure how long it will take me to get to goal weight, (I've got about 47lbs to go) but like most others, my bigger goal is to lose it, and keep it off FOREVER!!!

    Quinoa, can we?

Pre surgery my FAVORITE quinoa salad recipe: (I hope I can eat it again someday soon....) Makes a big salad: -1 1/2 cups to 2 cups dry quinoa ( Cook and cool in refrigerator) -1/2 can black Beans (or 1/2 cup cooked black beans) -1/2 purple onion, chopped -1/4 cup Sundried tomatoes -1/4 cup chopped feta -corn (optional. I never add) Add 1/4 cup (ish) Kraft Greek Salad dressing (low cal is better of course) Let it marinate and enjoy!! OR, I use it as an alternative to rice. Great with curry dishes, or greek dishes (add greek yogurt or tzasiki (spelling)
  14. I didn't take pain meds because they were making me vomit, and I really had very little pain. It was more 'discomfort' on the first day (like I'd been punched in the gut) but I didn't take anything after the first day. I was given ketalorac (i dont think its a narcotic??) to take home 10mg and 30mg, but the boxes are still full.

    Any Singers Sleeve

I sing professionally and was really worried about this too, but I'm 8 days out and back to normal! Though not back at work until next week. I was told that the first few days doing the breathing excercises were important to improve lung capacity after surgery abd think doing the incentive spirometer thing a few times a day really helped.

    4 weeks out

What about Kim's magic pops?! How long after post op could you eat them? I'm gonna buy some from amazon, and I know it will be a while before I can eat them but I'm looking forward to that...and avocado smoosh. At this point, ANY real-ish food would be so amazing.... only 3 more weeks of liquid to go. Ugh.
  17. I'm 8 days out and have been feeling great so far. I'm on 2 weeks clear liquids and 2 weeks full Fluids. I don't feel dehydrated, but pretty exhausted. My issue is... I keep fainting or near fainting when sitting to standing. It happened 3 times today.... thoughts???

    Spitting up

I had really bad reflux/ vomitting the first couple of days too. I feel your pain... it sucked. They told me it was because of swelling at the base of my esophagus. By day 3, things has pretty much subsided. I still have to drink slowly, but I'm on day 8 and each day is 100% better than the day before!!! Hang in there!! Oh!!! And - CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're on your way!!!!!!!!

Sleeved May 15 and Regretting it

You got this!!! Everyone says the psychological part is the hardest, but keep in mind...it's a brand new LIFE !! One you'll be stronger for it!! Yeah!! A year from now we'll be laughing our skinny little butts off!
  20. I'm amazed at how quickly everyone has been able to reintroduce food... I'm on liquid phases for 4 weeks! (2 week clear, 2 week full). Plus with the 2 weeks clear phase pre op.... I'm losing my mind!!! would just love a bite of something with texture... sigh..... Only 3 more weeks to go, then I'm gonna LOVES me somethin mushy! BUT... all complaints aside, I'm down 20 lbs since pre op and no complications!! Yay!! Thanks for the food suggestions! I can't WAIT!!!!
