  1. I find that mixing the protein powder with less liquid helps. Makes it easier to get it all down. I use Isopure Dutch chocolate with 6oz skim milk. Personally I like the flavor. Tastes like chocolate milk to me. I also used unjury unflavored and mix it with all kinds of things. Just have to make sure the flavor of what you mix it with is strong. They says in "unflavored" but it is just no added flavor, it certainly isn't tasteless. I have a protein shake every morning for breakfast, it's a good way to get a jump on protein for the day.

    Pumpkin Mousse (Easy)

Sounds yummy! Is it good enough to take to a gathering? Would non-sleevers and non-dieters enjoy it?

    Sleeve bust open?

I am only one week out, just finishing my full liquid phase and on to puréed tomorrow. I have had fleeting thoughts if "regular" food, but there is no way I would try it. I think about how hard it is to get in broth or Greek yogurt I couldn't even imagine how it would feel to eat something solid. I am sure things will be harder and taking more discipline once I can tolerate more, but like a previous poster said, I have worked way to hard for this to cause myself undue harm. Just the thought of the sleeve bursting is enough to keep me on track.

    3 Months and 65lbs

Congrats! You're looking great! Thanks for the inspirational pics. :-)
  5. I am six days post op and have been feeling similar. I slept 10 hours last night and all day felt like I wanted a nap. I powered through, but didn't do much other that sit around today. I did go with my hubby to the grocery store, but that was the most walking I did. Need to focus on more walking tomorrow, hopefully the weather will be better. Been rainy and gloomy the last few days, doesn't help with energy levels.

    Gummy vitamins

My surgeon and Nutritionist do no allow gummy vitamins. They didn't say anything about how they expand, but they do not have all the same vitamin values of regular vitamins. And if you actually read the label, its true. The gummies are missing one of the B vitamins. Also they do not absorb as well as the chewables. I use the Flintstones Complete vitamins and take two a day. Plus my extra calcium and B12.

    Drive Home?

I had my surgery Monday. Not only was I Not allowed to drive home, I am still not allowed to drive. I have to be cleared by my surgeon and no longer be on pain meds. My follow up with the surgeon is the endof next week.
  8. So, I am up at the crack of dawn because today is the day!! Surgery at 7:30 this morning! Good luck to all my Oct 7th sleeve buddies!! :-)

    Today is the day!

I was discharged yesterday evening around 5pm. They were debating keeping me another night because I wasn't tolerating all my fluids and def not getting in enough protein. I pushed as much as I could and got enough in that they were comfortable sending me home. Still struggling today, but I have more options here on what to eat/drink. They kept sending these horrible smelling broths for meals and jello. I just couldn't do it. I have only had one bout of nausea, but I have had too much pain to want to eat anything. Today is better with a little less pain as well. Hopefully each day will get better.
  10. I Finally had my surgery yesterday morning. Is it weird that I am excited to finally post a thread in the post-op forum?!? Haha I just got my tasty Breakfast of beef broth, Jello, bottle of war with crystal light packet and unflavored Protein powder to put it all of it. Before, I would have already finished and wishing for more. Now I have had two sips and am pretty full. I get one ounce per hour for now. Maybe up to 2 ounces per hour later today. Mostly I am just bored, but the pain is a bit better, when I am not moving anway. Hopefully will only get better from here!

    Post op day 1

Mostly it was just for options. I didn't drink most of it. Which now, I may not be able to go home today as planned. I am not tolerating enough liquids and Protein. I am trying to get more down today, I really want to go home.
  12. Well, I am up at the crack of dawn today! Today is the day I officially beginning my sleeved life. I am so ready. Everyone keeps asking if I am nervous and oddly, I haven't been. I thought this morning I would be a bundle of nerves, but still no. I haven't had any second thoughts either. I am just ready to do this. I feel like this day took forever to get here and it feels so surreal that it is finally time. Maybe as they wheel me into the OR it will really sink in. So here it goes!! Arrival time at the hospital is 5:30, then surgery at 7:30! Let's do this!!!

    EXTREAMLY ANXIOUS!

My surgery is tomorrow morning too! So far I am not nervous. I am just so ready to get it done. I am sure tomorrow morning will be a different story. All the nerves I haven't dealt with will probably come rushing up on me. Doesn't help that I will be getting up at 3:45am! I have a 5:30 arrival time and 7:30 surgery. Here's hoping I can get a little sleep tonight!

    Cold feet

I have the same fear of weight regain. Many years ago I lost 80lbs, the slowly but surely gained back 90lbs. >_< My surgery is on Monday and I am very excited and ready start my journey. But I still have that fear nagging me in the back of my mind. What if I go through all this and 2, 5 or even 10+ years down the line I gain it all back? I have to just stay determine to not sabotage myself. I plan to learn to work my sleeve and never give up. This is a huge commitment to health but it goes much farther than just the surgery. It's about a whole new life. I may have fears, but hopefully I can use them to drive me to succeed! Good luck to you!

    October roll call

October 7th at John Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore, MD. Just finished my Pre-op appts with anesthesia and PCP. Everything is a go! Less than a week away and so ready! :-) Good luck to everyone!

    on my way

  19. Two weeks from today, I will beginning the sleeved life!! So excited to start my journey! :-)
  20. I haven't had my liquid diet yet so I have no real advice or input. I just have to ask...3-4 times a DAY? That's intense. Maybe you meant a week?

    Flu shot

I have I get one too for work. I haven't yet though. Would there be a reason not to just because of surgery?

    October GS Pals?..

October 7th for me! So excited!
  23. My surgery is in three weeks. My surgeon doesn't do a pre-op diet exactly. Just one day liquids the day before surgery. She does however require that I lose 5-10 lbs before my surgery. I was down 2lbs, and thought sure no problem to lose a few more in a month. Now I am actually up 4 lbs! >_< I mean we'll and I plan well, then I have a freak out moment and stuff my self with whatever is near by. I know I need to focus and just eat right and stop snacking. Logically I know that, but then I screw up. So, someone yell at me and make me stop!!!
  24. Thanks for the encouragement! I am feeling better today and ready to commit to not overeating. I think I will attempt a 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery even though it isn't required. I certainly don't want any issues in surgery due to my liver size. It can't hurt to do more than the doc required!
