  1. I think my concern is what do I do to break the stall. Everyone says it will start coming off again, but do I just need to keep Doug what I am doing and wait or change what I am doing. There isn't much I can change at this point since I am so limited with a puréed diet. Also it would be hard to eat much less or much more. I just feel stuck. I happy about what I have lost and that I am not gaining, but just want to get back on the losing side of things!

    Ok tmi but bowel movements

I had the same issue the week of my surgery. The NP at my surgeons adduce told me to take milk of magnesia. Horrible tasting stuff, but it did the trick. Only took one dose and have been regular ever since.

    Successful

    You look great! :-)
  4. I have been taking pills since I got home from surgery. My pain meds, gerd med, gal stone med and allergy meds. I haven't had any problems.
  5. I am 2.5 weeks post op and seemed to already have a hit a stall. I haven't lost any weight since Sunday. I am down 12 lbs since surgery, which I think is good for 2 weeks, but coming up on 3 weeks and still only down 12. :-( It's just hard to understand because I am eating around 500-600 calories a day, how can I not be losing weight? I am getting all my liquids and protein in. Just going to stick with it and up my exercise, hopefully I will start losing again.
  6. I had a catheter which was removed early the day after surgery. I was in the hospital 3 days, two nights.

    ?

I assumed you were joking. Just wanted to make sure the OP really didn't mean "only 12lbs." Cuz that's is a lot in 6 days even with surgery.

First- 12 lbs at 6 days post op is phenomenal in my opinion. I am 2.5 weeks post op and down 12 lbs since surgery. Second- my stomach gurgles a lot too, mostly while and after eating. Sometimes with drinking too. I think it's pretty normal.
  9. I wasn't required to do a long pre-op diet, but I did attempt to do a week liquid on my own just to be better prepared. I failed terribly. I was just hungry all the time. I am 2.5 weeks post op and haven't had much trouble with liquid-purée diet. The first couple days it was hard to get enough in, but that got easier everyday. Now I am eating less than 600 calories a day and rarely feel hungry. It's a lot easier to stick to a liquid diet post op. I know that "cheating" and eating something I shouldn't could be detrimental to my health and my healing stomach. I haven't had any issues sticking to the post op diet.
  10. I work in healthcare as well, physical therapist assistant. Personally, I have to take off 7-8 weeks. My surgeon has a 5lb lifting restriction for 8 weeks. I explained I can not work with a lifting restriction and she agreed that she may let me go back a bit earlier depending on my status at my 6 week follow up. I am taking two weeks of sick/personal time, then the rest is short term disability. I am now two weeks post op, and even though I am bored at home and would love to be back at work, I know I could not handle my usual work load. There is no "light duty" in the nursing facility setting for me. I am sure if you go back after 2 weeks you will certainly be on light duty.
  11. Hey ladies! How long did you wait to get pregnant after vsg? My surgeon suggests waiting 18 months before trying to get pregnant. I have read about women who got pregnant unplanned, much sooner than that. I worry a bit about pregnancy weight gain, but mostly I want to be healthy and have a healthy baby. My husband and I do not have any children yet and have been getting a bit of baby fever lately. Of course it started after I was already in the process of trying to have surgery. We agreed I would do the surgery first, then think about having a baby. I feel like one year out would be ok to start trying. It may take awhile anyway. I am newly sleeved, so I have awhile to go yet, but it is something that is on my mind. And thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

    5 Days post op

Not a full diet, a "full liquid" diet. It's still basically liquids, just thick liquids. Things like milk, cream soups, yogurt and pudding are usually allowed on the full liquid, but not on clear liquid. Every surgeon is different, but adding just those few extras made it much easier for me. Otherwise I would have just lived on protein drinks.

    Adventures in shapers

Haha The crotchless feature is so you can pee without having to get completely undressed. I don't have any full body suit personally. I do have waist to legs that have like a small opening at the crutch, but I don't trust it. I have one that is a body suit with an opening to wear your own bra, but the crotch has clips like a bra for going to the bathroom. I don't wear them often, but I like how they hold everything together. Also I don't have to worry about sucking in my stomach, which I can't so much now anyway since still healing from surgery.

    Longest hospital stay?

I had no complications and I stayed three days, two nights. I almost had to stay another night because I was having trouble getting much fluids and protein in. I was able to get down a protein shake and convince my surgeon I would keep working on it at home.

    5 Days post op

Are you allowed a full liquid diet or just clear? I was on full liquids the first week. I enjoyed low fat/low sugar Greek yogurt (no fruit in it). Light and fit Greek yogurt is good. They have a toasted coconut vanilla that is really good. I was also allowed cottage cheese and ricotta cheese. I mixed both with garlic salt and heated it up in the microwave. Also tomato basil soup mixed with unflavored protein powder. I was sick of the broth before I even left the hospital, so I had to get creative!

    Six incisions...Why?

I had 6 incisions too. My surgeon had pointed out where all six would be on a few occasions. I know one was for the drain, so that is probably why some only have 5. Not all docs use drains.
  17. Always good to hear that life will return to normal eventually! Have a great vacation. :-)

    Pregnancy Post-op

Thanks for your thoughts! I am def planning to wait at least 12 months. I do want to optimize my weight loss before getting pregnant as much as I can. I do worry about weight gain with pregnancy, but I plan to work closely with a nutrionist to ensure the baby is getting what he or she needs and try not to stress too much about my weight.

    Gummy vitamins

Yep! Just have to make sure they are the Flintstones Complete. I have to take two of them each morning.
  21. So I am 12 days post op and feeling pretty good. This morning I had my first small victory. I passed my most recent lowest weight. My weight has gone up and down a lot over the years with different diet failures, but in the past few years the lowest I had ever gotten was 233 while doing a physician weight loss with phentermine last year. This morning I weighed in at 231.8! It's just one of those things that lets me know this is really happening. I have been feeling like I will never lose the weight I want to lose because I have failed so many times. I am now feeling like maybe I can really do this. Gonna rock this sleeve! BTW- My stats are- Highest weight-270, Starting weight- 250.2, Surgery day weight- 242.9, Current weight-231.8
  22. Awesome! How do you cook them? I assume they wouldn't need to fully boil like regular pasta noodles do. Do you saute them instead? Do they taste good with spaghetti sauce or even just with some garlic salt and olive oil? I love spaghetti squash so I am sure I will like noodles made out of zucchini!
  23. Thanks for the encouraging words! I am still trying to wrap my head around everything I think. Before surgery I felt like it was taking forever to get her, now it all seems like a blur. I guess just time will help me realize this is all real. You would think the pureed diet and eating less that 600 calories a day would do it. I don't really ever feel all that hungry, so it makes the diet more tolerable. I would have been miserable to try to eat like this before. Maybe I have always just assumed I had to suffer to lose weight, that I would have to feel like I am starving all the time. So it's nice to not feel like I am starving even though I am eating so little. Not that I haven't had cravings for real food. I have, but I also know that there is no way I could eat it and it would just make me feel bed. It hurts to take too big a bite of yogurt so I know a bite of a cheeseburger would be horrible! haha Still getting used to that mindset. Good luck to you all in your journey as well!

    Not eating much..

Have you tried any of the "clear" protein drinks? Isopure makes flavors that are premixed and clear, so it could just replace some of the fluids you are drinking through the day. Also Nectar makes powders that are lore like regular drinks and mix with water. They come out more cloudy than clear, but some are tasty. I like the roadside lemonade a lot, but they have a hunch of flavors. I ordered a sample pack of packets on eBay before surgery to try them out.
