Looks great!! Love the dress and the shoes! :-) -
I have has acid reflux for years. I was taking Prevacid daily with good control prior to surgery. My surgeon did discuss the possiblilty that my reflux could continue or even worsen after the sleeve. She explained that if it gets out of control the only option is to revise to gastric bypass. I did some research and like Laura said, it seems to be different for everyone. Some people get better others get worse while some stay the same. I figured that without the sleeve I would be taking meds for reflux the rest of my life anyway. I decided to go for it and hope for the best. My surgeon did change my med to one she feels is better, protonics. So far I haven't had any problems. I am fours weeks out.

That's great! I am sure that is a fantastic feeling. I can't wait until the day I can post something similar. :-) -
Multi-vit that doesnt make you puke?
LisaDM replied to Samijo4391's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had anything make me puke, but the only bouts of nausea I have had are when I take my multivitamin before eating. I always take it in the morning, but one morning I took it before making my protein shake. As I was shaking up my shake, I started to get that warm and not so fuzzy feeling. I quickly took a sip of my shake and laid down inky recliner. Took a couple lore sips and slowly felt better. So my tip is never take it on an empty stomach! -
Yeah, my NP actually suggested for me to take a small extra iron supplement on top of what I get from the chewables. She said for women who are still menstrating, extra May be needed. I just worry about taking too much cause that can cause constipation. I don't need that! Hah So for now I am taking it every other day. I will just see what happens at my three month blood work to decide whether I should keep taking it.

You may want to compare your funnies to your Flintstones. You will notice some things are missing from the gummy vitamins. You will find some major differences. Most notably, the gummies do not have B1, B2, iron and calcium. So you may have to take extras. Especially the iron. You should already be taking extra calcium so that should be fine. But the iron is important on such a limited diet.

How long after VSG before the scale moved?
LisaDM replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 13 lbs in the first two weeks, then pretty much nothing the next two weeks. Started at 242.9 morning of surgery then stopped at 230-230.8. This morning I finally dropped to 229.8. I am trying not to weigh myself everyday because it's just frustrating. I am ok with being a slow loser but it's hard to lose 13 pounds in two weeks and then nothing in the next two. -
I haven't noticed any swelling. I don't really have any pain either exactly. But I still notice that my abs are atill healing. Like when I am laying down if I try to just sit up, I can tell I shouldn't cuz there is a mild cramp, nothing serious.

My doc requires an 8 week 5 lb lifting restriction. Even she admits that she is more strict than other doctors, but she also doesn't have patients coming back with hernias. I am a physical therapist assistant at a nursing facility, so lifting is required and there is no "light duty" option. I talked my doc into possibly letting me go back after my 6 week follow up. I am almost 4 weeks out and while I am bored at home, I know I couldn't handle the physicality of my job. I still get occasional cramps in my abdomen with certain movements, I would be afraid to lift anything.

Hi there! I was sleeves on Oct 7th and I am down 13 pounds since surgery. 12 of those pounds were lost in the first two weeks after surgery, I have been in a stall the last almost two weeks, though this morning I was finally down a pound. The stall is frustrating, but I know the weight will eventually come off. Otherwise I have had a great recovery. I haven't had any issues really, so I am happy about that!

Unjury unflavored powder
LisaDM replied to Sassy Pants1's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I mix it with lots of things. It's much better in creamy or puréed soups than in the broth. It def changes the flavor, but it's not bad. I have found that if you mix it in a blender you get less clumps. Other than soups, I have mixed it with cream of wheat with some SF vanilla syrup and in cheesy instant mashed potatoes. I would just make sure whatever you mix it in has a strong enough flavor or that you can add flavoring to help the taste. -
First challenge for me, Surgery was Oct 7th. Been in a stall for the past week and a half, hoping it will finally break. Current weight- 230 Thanksgiving goal- 218 (12 lbs)

What I have been told is because it irritates the stomach. Coffee or really caffeine isn't great for a normal stomach. I guess it's worse on a sleeve. I don't plan to give up coffee forever, but certainly for a few months while my stomach is still healing. I was never a big coffee drinker, just one cup on weekdays before work or occasional Starbucks latte. I will probably go more with just an occasional coffee.

What do YOU do to break through a stall or plateau?
LisaDM replied to livvsmum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This makes me feel much better. I am 3 weeks post op and have been in a stall for a week and a half. I finally lost 2 lbs and then was back up 1 lb. I am just trying to stay positive and keep doing what I am doing. I know a stall is common at this time but it still sucks while you are in it! Just makes me feel like maybe I can't lose weight even with surgery! >_< -
I am a stomach sleeper too so it has been quite an adjustment. I have had some difficulty falling asleep, I think because I have to sleep on my back. I am 3 weeks post op. I have tested sleeping on my stomach, but the pressure is uncomfortable. I am hoping that soon I can tolerate it.

I would say no, there are a lot of chunks.

Oh and Unjury makes a chicken soup flavor that is quite tasty!
-
I have been drinking Powerade Zero. I water them down just because they are quite sweet. Also, have you tried Syntrax Nectar protein? They make many different flavors, most are pretty decent. I bought a sampler pack on eBay for a decent price. At least you can switch up the flavors that way.

This statement just made my night! Haha They sound...um...tasty?

Good luck!! :-)

Why am i not losing weight?
LisaDM replied to missypooh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I stopped weighing myself for a few days because I was just getting obsessed and frustrated. Decided to weigh myself this afternoon and I am down 2 lbs! So just stick with what you know and the weight loss will pick back up! :-) -
My BMI was 35.9 when I first met with my surgeon in June, 34.8 on the day of surgery. I am 3 weeks out and have lost 12 lbs since surgery, though I have been in a stall for the last week. Hoping it breaks soon. I don't expect to lost fast due to having a lower BMI, but not losing anything so soon sucks. I am not freaking out just yet though, seems a stall around 3 weeks is common. I am sure things will get moving again soon.

I think you should follow our surgeons directions as much as possible, but you didn't ruin anything if you messed up. Personally, I didn't have a specific pre-op diet. My surgeon asked me to lose 5-10lbs prior to surgery, but let me do it in my own way. I only had a one day liquid diet prior to the surgery. I have had no issues or complications since surgery nearly 3 weeks ago.
