    Being Dizzy...is It Normal?

I had a lot of dizzy spells for the first few weeks. Pretty much every time I stood up I would get dizzy for a couple seconds. I don't know for sure the cause. I am sure it's just the body adjusting to the drastic changes in calorie and fluid intake. I am nearly 8 weeks out now and i do not have those spells anymore. I guess it's been a couple weeks now since it stopped.

    Incision Infection

Mine didn't look exactly like that, but I did have one that had trouble closing. While in the hospital I accidentally ripped the glue off with my nail when putting on my binder. It had a large scab, which later pulled off. Eventually it did close fully. It was always a little red right on the edge and would leak small amounts of fluid. So small I only knew because I would have tiny spots on my shirts. Now, at 6 weeks out it is closed, but larger than my other scars. Hopefully it will close up. Just try not to mess with it at all.

    Band Or Sleeve?

All I know is my surgeon won't even perform the band surgery anymore. She said the statistics show it does not work in the long term.

4Th Day Out And Still No Bm

I had my surgery on a Monday, had by Friay still hadn't had a BM. I mentioned to my surgeon's NP when she called to check up on me and she told me to take a dose of milk of magnesia, which I did that afternoon. A few hours later I was back in business. A bit more than I wanted at first, but the regular by the next day.
  9. I wore loose fitting clothes, sweat pants and t-shirt. The morning after surgery after the catheter was removed I changed out of the hospital gown and wore my clothes the rest of the time. I packed cotton underwear, cotton sports bra, more sweat pants/capris and light tees. It wasn't bad having a light t-shirt on my stomach, but I wore the binder most of the time the first few days anyway.

    Protein Shakes.....

I really like the Isopure powder. I have had both chocolate and mint chocolate chip. You can find them on amazon for much less than you can find them in stores. Unjury unflavored is also good to be used mixed in soups and such during the puréed diet stage.
  11. I am almost 6 weeks post op and have lost 19 lbs since surgery. I expected and hoped to lose slowly. My BMI was on the lower side, so I didn't expect to lose as fast as some. While I would love to wake up skinny tomorrow, I am still pleased with my weight loss. I had a stall for about a week and a half but now I am steadily losing again. I think the slow steady loss is the best, I am hoping losing slowly will help with keeping skin tighter.

    The Diet ?

Not every surgeon does a long liquid diet prior to surgery. Mine did not. She only required one day of liquids the day before surgery. Otherwise, I was required to lose 5-10 lbs prios to my surgery my own way. I chose to use protein drinks, but certainly not full liquids. I feel for those that have to do it prior to surgery, I wouldn't have made it! After surgery I had one week full liquids which wasn't bad at all because I was never hungry and I couldn't have managed to eat anything solid even if I wanted to!

    Hair Experiment Outcome!

I was looking at that stuff on amazon the other day. I am only 5 weeks out and haven't lost any hair, but the idea of it freaks me out! I am taking extra biotin everyday and bought garnier fructis fall fight shampoo and conditioner. The Revita is a bit expensive when I don't even know how much if any hair loss I will have.

    Bridging The Gap

It's nice to see a positive thread. I have already seen so much negativity between the different wls categories. It seems so ridiculous to me. We all have the same goal, just took different paths to get there. I had my reasons to chose the sleeve over rny or band, but those reasons are mine and I accept that others have different reasons for their decisions. I was inspired to go through with the sleeve by two friends, one had rny the other the sleeve, but both have had great success. I think it's great to hear stories from everyone about their journey with wls no netter what kind they chose. :-)

    Thanksgiving Challenge

    My weight this morning- 224.6
  18. I honestly rarely feel hungry. I mean I have had slight hunger sometimes, but I haven't felt any extreme hunger. I believe most of mine is head hunger. It's something I know I will have to work on for the rest of my life and always have. The difference is now I might eat a yogurt or cheese stick due to head hunger when before I would eat a bag of chez mix, chips or cookies. So I know I will still lose weight, but I need to break those habits before my grazing get out of control. For ow though, I am not going to worry myself too much over my 1000 cal a day. And I def don't want to look like a deflated gummy bear!! Haha Loose skin and losing hair are my two biggest fears. I have already started using a toning lotion everyday and a shampoo/conditioner/spray that is supposed to help with losing hair.
  19. Well it's good to not be alone! :-) Part of me knows it's crazy to think eating 1000 calories a day is too much. I know that is low enough to lose weight, but reading others experiences makes me question it. Maybe it will even help when it comes to hair loss, something that I am afraid of.
  20. You are doing fantastic! I can't wait to reach Onederland myself.

    Sushi

Omg!! The one thing I miss most is sushi. I am 5 weeks post op. I saw my NUT last week. I am on soft foods and she said rice is on the allowed list, but to proceed with caution. Rice is small, so how much actually gets chewed and how much just goes down whole? Personally I am trying to hold off on adding back in much carbs like bread rice and pasta. I have thought about just ordering a roll without rice, but I just don't think it will be the same. A place I like does offer brown rice as an option, so once I try it I will probably go with that. I plan to wait until I am cleared for regular foods. That's in 3 more weeks.

    Stuck and Frustrated. ..

I was exactly where you are last week. I had a stall that last almost two weeks. It was frustrating, but I was comforted a bit to know that it was very common. Still no fun at all. I had lost 12 pounds in two weeks, then nothing for nearly two more weeks. I was grateful for what I had lost, but I didn't remove most of my stomach for 12 lbs! Then, amazingly, this past Sunday I got on the scale and finally saw 229.2 when I had been stuck at 230-230.4. Now as of this morning I am 226.2. I honestly didn't change much to break the stall. I actually attempted to up my calories to 800-900 a day. Not sure if that is what finally helped or if my body just needed time to adjust. The stall will pass, just gotta get through it.

    Drugs

While In the hospital I had a morphine pump for the first day. Once removed they gave me oxycodone, then changed to dilauded because the oxy didn't do much for my pain. I was given a prescription for dilauded at home as well, but only needed it for a coupl days. For nausea I had a patch behind my ear, not sure what it's called. Also was give zofran as needed, but luckily I didn't have much nausea so I only needed it once. I didn't have anything for nausea at home because it wasn't needed.
  25. You look great! You look younger too. :-)
