My Doctor Wants Me To Eat More!

Everyone has different consumption needs according to what kind of physical activity you do. I eat around 800-1000 calories a day. I just find I feel sluggish and overly stuffed if I try to eat more. But that's my body and sleeve everyone is different. good luck!

    Real Food?

Yes, you will be able to eat whatever you chose as your body heals. That being said it is a lifestyle change, your body may not like everything you eat such as pancakes, junk good, and (for me) chicken, so it will basically retrain you. But your hunger will diminish or at least mine did. I am 5m out and I'm able to eat everything I just chose not to.

    What Should I Do?

Eh...that's a hard one. Speak with the professor and your admission office in certain circumstances where hospitalization is required they tend to be more lenient.
  4. It has been 5 months since surgery and I'd like some new recipes! I'm burnt out of boiled eggs, tuna, and canned chicken! I need to spice things up any suggestions?

Yes, I had the sleeve. I can eat anything I want, but I chose not too. Chicken is very dry for me but steak on the other hand is fine. Everyone is different. Now I don't eat bread, have I tried it yes. I don't like the way it makes me feel. I usually eat beans, steak, salads, cheese, sliced deli meat, ect. If you have any questions please let me know! I remember searching for a friend that I could rely on during this journey. I found her and she has been a life saver. It's great to talk with someone who has been there.

I was not your typical case. I don't want to scare anyone bc I was his first complication and he's not really sure what happened but I mysteriously lost a lot of blood....a lot. I had to have a blood transfusion and spent a week in the hospital. The pain is not bad at all. I just felt very weak and tired from all the stress my body went through. My advice is listen to your own body. They had no clue I had lost or was losing blood till I passed out. For some reason they did not preform post-labs, but I think he changed that. Other than that he is a wonderful and very tentative doctor. I would trust him to do it again. I just happened to be that fluke case. My only complaint wasn't with the dr but the nursing staff...I did not tell anyone that I was having surgery except husband and I made the nursing staff aware if this but ppl came to visit after hearing I was in the hospital and the nurses would just discuss my surgery in front of everyone! So much for HIPPA!

  10. First, I'd like to say I'm so sorry for your loss. She was beautiful. Also, this is true that you MUST stand up for yourself as a patient. Within hours after my surgery I did not feel right at all being in the medical field I knew something was wrong. The nurses tried to force me to walk after surgery, but I did not feel right. I refused. The next morning they tried to force me again. I refused. The afternoon 3 nurse and the coordinator came to my room to force me to walk so they could release me. I told them something was wrong and they insisted I walk to the bathroom. After sitting me on the side of the bed as soon as my feet touch the floor I passed out cold. My husband thought I was gone. The nurses hit the call button and when I came to I was surrounded by nurses, Dr's and staff with a crash cart by my bed. After test the Dr realized I had lost almost all of my blood during surgery due to a nicked spleen. I had to received a complete blood transfusion and remained in the hospital for a week. So stick to your guns, only YOU, know YOUR BODY!

Please Let The Hair Loss Stop!

Thanks for everyone's replies. I spoke with my Dr today concerning it and he prescribed me 50,000 units of Vitamin d a week and a prescription Iron supplement. He said that since I had such a difficult surgery (complete blood transfusion) and I was a chronic anemic this could have been a contributing factor. The good news is I see a lot of re growth but I'm still losing a lot of hair!

    Weight Watchers!

Years ago I signed up for weight watchers and I did pretty good on it. But my question is why do they constantly email you asking you to rejoin? If their program was/is such a success I should be skinny right? Lol, I'd almost love to join now so I could mesmerize them with my weight loss but that would kinda be cheating!
  22. I know I have seen this thread on here before but for the life of me I can't find it. I'd like some MFP buddies that I can start looking at their daily meals so I can have some meal plans to copy thanks guys!! I am need2bthin1
