How long was your pre-op diet?

Do you feel hungry all the time drinking them? That's what I'm worried about. Being very hungry and eating while drinking a shake :-/ and gaining more weight. I hope that makes sense....

How long was your pre-op diet?

I think I may do the optifast anyway. Where do you purchase it?
  4. I am finishing up my last month of supervised dieting and having my trans nasal endoscope and abdomen scan done today. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I really want to be successful can anyone give me tips on what to begin now in order to set myself up for success? Thanks!!!

    Tips on success?

Thanks for the GREAT advice!!! I will begin walking starting today and try some different shakes. Also I never thought about taking pictures of myself. Granted, I don't want to see any pictures of myself so I will ask my husband to take them and not show them to me Again, thanks for the wonderful advice!!

    Unjury?

My NUT told me after surgery I would need to consume 60g of protein a day, and that most patients chose unjury. What is the best protein shake in your opinion? I am looking for something really good because I'm worried about losing hair. Thanks guys!!
  8. That is a great suggestion princesstia!! It never occurred to me to start taking collagen.

    Unjury?

Thanks everyone for the help!! But I noticed someone on here said that our taste and what you able to tolerate changes after surgery. So do you recommend waiting till after surgery to buy protein shakes? I was going to purchase some to have for after surgery.
  10. I have the same stats as you and your BMI seems around a 41, mine is. I am suppose to have my surgery tentatively in June. Exercise is not my problem, I run marathons, play softball, and workout with weights. My eating is the problem and the years of abuse I subjected my metabolism to in order to make weight in cheering and softball. I am praying insurance approves me. I have almost completed my 6m evaluation.

My insurance required the classes. I haven't gotten surgery date yet. I just finished with the nutritionist and I have 2 more test. But tentatively some time in June!!! I'm super excited too!!

just starting out and almost done

I was in sorta the same boat as you. I went for my initial visit almost 6m ago and they said I had to do 6m of monitored nutrition classes. So I started the classes and thought well I will wait till my 4-5m to set up the rest of my appointments. After going back 2weeks ago to meet the surgeon he talked me into getting the sleeve and told me we would be in overdrive as I only have 6 weeks left of nutritional diet. So now I'm trying to get all my prepping done
  13. After weighing my options the sleeve or the band.....I'm going with the sleeve!!! Now I'm starting to get a lil nervous and excited. But I'm curious how much weight has everyone lost with the sleeve and how long did it take? I can't wait to get into shape and fulfill a lifelong goal of finishing a 5k race! This has always been my dream and I tried training last year but my weight really hurt my knees. So maybe within 2 years post op this dream with come dream

    Low iron levels!

Great idea about the iron skillet! Let me know if it works. I use to have very low iron, I chewed ice all the time! I received two iron skillets for Xmas and have been cooking with them continually, bc I love them, and my iron was perfect I thought maybe it was my diet never imaged it was my pans.

    Sleeve vs. lapband

I think your right. Two of my husbands co-workers have had WLS surgery using our insurance, I just always love to hear from people that it was a breeze with the insurance company

    Pity party...

I feel as though you are talking about ME!! I feel exactly the same way....I have let myself go and given up on everything! I use to have a great career and traveled all over. Then, I got married decided to settle down, had children and gave up! I became a stay at home mom and decided to focus on my family....and now I'm so ashamed of who I have become I won't go anywhere, not church, social functions, or anywhere i may run into people who use to know me. I won't even go out to dinner with my husband bc I feel like I would be such an embarrassment for him. My husband tells me all the time that I am just as beautiful as the day we met and everyone puts on baby weight. He's offered to go to the gym with me and walk around our neighborhood after he gets home from work....but I'm so ashamed for people to see me I tell myself that I am being overly vain but I honestly don't know what to call it.
  17. Wow!!! I'm so impressed by everyone's weight loss I can't wait to have surgery!
  18. That is fabulous!! How did you do it so quickly?!

    its becoming real

I understand why they would cath you. I have had several patients "go" while asleep. But you will be fine, request it to be inserted after your asleep.

    highmark bcbs

Please let me know what they say. I have t had my psych appt yet. I also have to have a scope done, the dr thinks I may have a hernia. I am meeting with my NUT for the first time on the 24th. I have just been visiting my PCP since I live so far away from the hospital. I am praying they submit mine sometime in June.

    highmark bcbs

I have highmark as well. I am in my 5th month of diet program (about to start 6th). My coordinator told me that I had to go to 7 consecutive PCP appointments but she didn't say anything about a weight history of 2yrs. (i never went to the dr much) so I'm worried about this aspect. But after hearing all the great approval reviews I am praying
