Hi everyone. I just want to introduce myself to the group. I am gogogirl....lol I am presleever. This journey is starting and ending with God. I have Kaiser Permanente Insurance. I made the decision to have the sleeve less than a month ago, was able to get a doc appt the next day and was refered to bariatrics that day. I just had my Options orientation session, my body analysis, and my first class over the last couple of days. I am about 3 weeks in and have gone through the first 2 hurdles. As far as I can tell, there are 4 with Kaiser on their part. The next 2 are getting a referral from my Options Instructor and then the O'k from my surgeon who I have not picked yet. I have my choice of 3, one of which received Surgeon of the Year so I think he will be my pick. I dropped about 5 pounds before my initial official weigh in and officially have dropped 2 since my start of Options. I need to lose 10% so let's just say 22 pounds to be considered for the surgery, as well as making all of my classes, doing all of my labs, and whatever else they ask me to do. I got this. To think this is the LAST time I will have to do this without the edge of the sleeve is giving me a great deal of resolve. Anyway, Hello everyone. Please stop by and say hello and introduce yourself. I am not telling too many folks in my circle so I hope to make a new one here.

Doing ok. In my 7th of my 12 weeks of classes for surgery prep. It will probably be 5 to 8 weeks before I get my surgery date so doing the waiting game too.

Hi Dualstarr...I decided to have the surgery April 8th, 2013, saw my doctor the following day and she referred me. I went to the orientation the following week and started Options on May 1, 2013. I have not had my surgery yet. My class ends on July 17th. I have heard that some folks in classes that just finished have had their surgeries within a week of class ending. I think it may depend upon the Kaiser though. Our LCSW said it could be about 3 weeks before we get a call for an appt. with the surgeon...I think at our Kaiser that is the official line but I have heard lots of cases where that has not been true. My Kaiser has a support group on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. I went last night and it was pretty good. My Kaiser is in Harbor City.

They did tell us daily 30 minutes of aerobics for the rest of our lives BUT others of our speakers said that they know this is not realistic...that we have to figure out we really can do, to make realistic goals and not ones full of excuses.

Bariatric Vitamin Company I just heard about tonight: Celebrate Vitamins...they give Kaiser patients in California only a discount!

Went to a Bariatric Support Group tonight...was awesome...got lots of free sample vitamins to try for after the surgery!!

All labs done and ok; met with the head of Bariatrics; did my sleep apnea testing; all that's left is the appointment for ob gyn and to finish the 2nd 6 weeks of options!

One third of the way into Options and I have lost just over one third of the weight they want me to lose pre-surgery so it is looking good. Folks are now having their surgeries within about a week of finishing options so it looks as if I should have my surgery in July.

Was more than difficult to keep my weight off while I was in Texas...had to fast when I got back so I wouldnt show a weight gain at Options.

Had appt yesterday with the licensed clinical social worker to get clearance to not to have to go to any counseling...she says I am good as far as she is concerned.

Had all my labs done and there were a lot of them. Most results are in but waiting on the H. Pylori and whatever else takes a while. Glad to be taking the steps necessary to get from where I was to where I am going. WooHoo!!!!!!

Gained 1/2 pound today for NO apparent reason...lost well last week...on my 2nd week in options...extra exercise today and thinking about protein shakes for one or both of next 2 meals.

Roaming around I found this website which is pretty cool. Shows really women at different weights, heights, and shapes. I think it will help me to get a better idea of where I want to end up. http://www.mybodygallery.com/
