Is this possible? I was sleeved on Wednesday morning. In the hospital I felt sore and worn out, but used a lot of pain meds and managed well. I came home yesterday evening and decided not to take any more narcotics because they were keeping me from passing gas, which was uncomfortable. But I feel great today! I'm NOT complaining, just wondering if this is some kind of pain free honeymoon and if better get ready to Feel rough again soon. I have walked a lot and my surgeon used the On-Q pump, which is still in My stomach delivering local anesthetic for incisional pain. Anyway, I am super happy with recovery so far, just a little surprised. Anyone else have this experience? Or anyone feel good early on then worse as days went by? Just trying to gauge my experience. I know it's different for everyone, but I'm still curious.

Love it! My kids and hubby are 100% of the reason I'm doing this. I mean, I'm doing it for me too...so that I will be able to enjoy a long, quality life with my loves. Congrats on your surgery, your Beautiful son and realizing what really counts--our loved ones not the lame comments of some random colleague. Happy Mothers Day! -
Hi everyone! I was sleeved today at 10 am!!! Everything g went well. I was in the PACU FROM 12-8 though! Not because of me--the hospital didn't have any open beds all that time. Luckily. The nurses were nice and the meds were good. I have some discomfort now but no pain. I feel much better than I thought I would. Yay!!! I'm so happy I got through this so well so far. I Will keep you all posted!!!

Need positivity from post op peeps!
mamamareli posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I'm getting sleeved on Wesnesday, and I have just been reading too many negative posts on here! Starting to stress me out! I need some seriously positive good vibes to get me through the surgery and the recovery. I've been a long time coming to this choice, and I think I'm ready. Just need to be pumped up for surgery. Attitude is (almost) everything, right!? Any veterans or newly sleeved folks got some good vibes and encouragement to send my way? I'd sure appreciate it!!! -

How much did you lose on preop diet?
mamamareli posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much did you lose and what was diet like--food, length, etc? I'm on Day 8 of 14, 9 lbs down on optifast shakes/soups only but I have eaten some real food (very high protein and veg). Just curious. Did you stick to your preop diet 100%? -

Precooking meals(for hubby) for after WLS
mamamareli replied to adargie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cooked a lot of meals and froze them for my husband and 2 young kids. I would just buy double or triple ingredients when i cooked a particular meal (before surgery) , made a big batch and freeze leftovers. Spaghetti meat sauce, chili, beef stroganoff, chicken tetrazzini, bean soup, hamburger patties, etc. my family will still need to eat when I am recovering. Now it's easier on my husband, and ill be able to rest. -
Help! Struggling to be ready for pre-op diet
mamamareli posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been trying to prep for my 2 week optifast diet by switching to 2 protein shakes and a healthy dinner. Yeah right!!! I start out great then blow it by the afternoon! Should I even bother before next Wednesday (when I start optifast)? I'm so emotional about this surgery. Im not having a total food funeral but I'm not doing what I set my mind to, either. How did you feel just before your Pre-op diet and/or surgery? I am all over the map!!! -
Pre Op Diet
mamamareli replied to BullRidinMomma2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do 2 weeks of Optifast Pre surg. 4- 8 oz shakes, i soup and one bar. Also allowed 3 sf Jello and 3 sf Popsicles per day. I'm not hungry on it but of course I want real food. Just not as bad as I want an uncomplicated surgery--so I am sticking to it. -
Do not go to this surgeon. Besides mishearing you, he has not practiced the surgery. You do not want to be one of his first patients. Surgeons, like everyone, get better with practice. So sorry about how frustrating this must be.

I'm scared too. Getting sleeved on may 8th. Trying to be positive but you are right, things can go wrong. I have 2 small children and sometimes I'm scared they will be left motherless. But obesity could do that too. This is tough. Thank you for posting. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. Chances are good that we will all come through it just fine. I need to keep focusing on the positive things this surgery can bring to my life.

Frustrated with Self Pay and coordinating preop in US
mamamareli posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi. I'm self-pay surg and all the preop testing this is going to cost me 22k+. Starting to think I should have just gone to Mexico. Not just because of $$ but inconvenience of coordinating all my preop stuff with do many different doctors. Is it more one-stop shopping in Mexico? Do you have do preop testing in states and bring it with you/send ahead to your Mexican surgeon. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this... -
