Band to sleeve revision slower weight loss?
shielanotsheila replied to sma102205's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was banded in August 2010 and had my revision exactly one year ago today. My weight loss has been extremely slow but I am still happy with my sleeve. I am down 30 pounds from a year ago but I also had a lower BMI going into the surgery. I have another 45 to lose but I feel much better to reach my goal weight! I do have to work harder at losing weight because this is a tool but I love that I am full at the end of dinner and have no room for dessert -
Any Regrets? Band to sleeve?
shielanotsheila replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was revised June 6th and I have no regrets! I have never been happier! Only regret… that I had the band in the first place. What sucks is that you lose at a slower pace with a conversion but I am already down 30 pounds! I have 40 more to go. I didn't even try and watch what I was eating last month because I was traveling for work and I still lost 10 pounds (I did walk a lot for exercise). People at work have noticed and they even tell me that I am glowing. I wish I had never had the band and had chose the sleeve as my first WLS. -
Can we add too, to, and two because that drives me nuts TOO!

Band to Sleeve in TEXAS? Doc referrals DfW area or Denton?
shielanotsheila replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I used Dr. Kim and I am pleased. He took out all saline from my band prior to my conversion and did everything in one surgery. -

This might sound stupid, but your arms look great! Did you work on your arms at all? My fear is that my skin will hang from my arms and I won't be able to hide it. -
Scared... Need a Pep Talk!
shielanotsheila replied to DorothyGale's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will do great. Honestly the pain isn't too bad and I had a conversion from a lapband to a sleeve. I thought getting the lapband was more painful. The only hard part is dealing with head hunger after surgery and not being able to eat solids. You will get through it. Complications are really low as long as you follow your doctor's orders. -
Hi there, I am almost 6 weeks out and I know how you feel. I was the same way. I barely lost 5 pounds the first two weeks and I was jealous at all the people losing like crazy. I felt so frustrated. Don't worry. It will come off! Follow your doctor's orders and it will drop off. Also, if you are constipated, talk to your doctor. I was too and he told me to take Milk of Magnesia and/or Miralax and that helped a lot! Good luck! I am sure you will do great!

Hi! I am so glad I found this group. My name is Shiela and I live in Texas. I grew up in New York. I have been overweight my whole life. I was sleeved on June 6th of this year. I am only 5 weeks out. I have lost about 20 pounds so far. I am averaging 2 pounds a week.

I didn't have a drain. What determines having a drain?

I freaked as well when I go the letter. When I went there last week, they said he was out of network only for surgeries. I could still go there for my follow ups. -
Has anyone tried their pasta from quest. It is low carb. I am thinking of buying it.

No artifical sweeteners or processed products

Whatever it is, you can get coconut palm from Asian grocery stores for a fraction of the cost of the crystallized version. -

Wikipedia is incorrect. Palm sugar is made from coconut palm. It used to be made from palmyra palm. Not anymore. The ingredients on my palm sugar reads coconut palm. Read this link:http://www.templeofthai.com/food/flour_sugar/coconutpalmsugar-3610001105.php -

Palm sugar is the same as coconut sugar. It's very cheap from Asian stores but it comes in a solid form. It's not crystallized like the coconut sugar. It's about a dollar a brick. -

Yes. I had Dr. Kim and Dr. Holden assisted. She fixed a hiatal hernia that I had. No blood thinners for me. Maybe every case is different. -

I am doing great. Again, Dr. Kim is a great surgeon. That is why I chose him. Having a conversion done is risky and I know he has done tons of them. I knew I wouldn't see him after and I would only see the PAs but I was fine with that. His PAs are great. My only other issue is that I am losing extremely slow. I don't know if it's because I have a lower BMI than most to start with. I have lost about 20 pounds. I guess I should be happy to lose that in 1 month. -

I had to be on a one week liquid diet. They make you buy these bariatric shakes. My situation is a little different regarding insurance because I had a conversion from the lapband to sleeve. When I had my lapband, I had to go through 6 months of classes. This time around I had to do nothing. My surgery was scheduled fairly quick. I was approved May 11 and my surgery was scheduled June 6. Let me know if you have any other questions. I am more than happy to help! -

I am so sorry. I meant to say June 6th. It has been 1 month. I wanted my surgery at trophy club but my insurance didn't approve it as a center of excellence. I did have an EGD there and I liked the hospital very much. As for Dr. Kim, he is a great surgeon but don't expect to see him much. I know Dr. Holden assisted in my surgery but I only met her during my consult. As for his staff, they are excellent and I have had no issues so far. I will be on normal food starting Thursday. It was tough in the beginning but I am so glad I did this! -

I did. I was sleeved by Dr. Kim on July 6th. Let me know if there is any way I can help. -
Sorry if this has been posted before but I can't find it anywhere. Is it ok to have low carb cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory? I am 4 weeks out and am on mushy foods. I am dying for something sweet!

June 6th. Looking for my sleeve siblings! :)

I'm only down 18 pounds too. The weight is coming off really slow! I guess that's good for my skin!
