  1. I don't know for sure obviously, but I don't think it sounds like a leak. I believe the shoulder pain people get with a leak feels the same if not similar to someone who is bleeding internally and gets shoulder pain. Which I have experienced. It's quite painful and all you want is someone to rub your shoulders for you to make the pain go away. I do know with internal bleeding the most painful thing I experienced was the feeling like my body was being electrocuted over and over again. Also, you are 3 months out. My surgeon said it's very unlikely that you'll get a leak once you pass the 10 day mark.
  2. They are 30 calories each. I just know for me it's very hard for me to get supplements in but with this it doesn't even feel like I'm taking a supplement, it seems more like a treat but at the same time I'm getting in what I need for calcium and some Vitamin D. It contains 500mg of calcium per disk and 250mg of vit D. So I would have to take 2 a day (recommended amount by my NUT) at 60 calories total, which is actually about the same for what I've been taking now for calcium and I really don't like what I was currently taking. Magtart, they sell them at wegmans if you have a wegmans in your area and also walgreens might sell them too. If you go directly to adora's website they have a list of all the companies that sell them in their store.
  3. Since no one responded I'm going to assume that's because no one was sure about it. I compared it to common gummy multivitamins (since that is what I would be taking during the first few months after surgery) and this protein powder mixed with milk or water seems to have more vitamins per serving so I'll probably just use this as my multivitamin and kill two birds with one stone and get my protein and multivitamin in in one shot.
  4. Any tips on how I can get my sister to tell me when she will be coming to town for a visit? Here is the thing, she lives States away and plans to come up for a visit "soon" but she won't tell me when she is coming. She says it's a surprise. Here is my problem though, I plan to get this surgery "soon" and I don't want it to end up on (or around) the date when I'm getting my surgery. I have decided that I will not be sharing this news with anyone but my husband (for various reasons) so of course she has no idea I'm getting the surgery. I just don't know how to get her to tell me when she'll be arriving. Any ideas?
  5. I read that whole thing!! I'm glad to hear you had a great experience, good luck on your journey to better health!

    Protein Snacks

Yes Beef Jerky but I get the organic or all natural stuff because I'm super sensitive to preservatives and it causes me to have headaches and causes my asthma to act up. But the all natural beef jerky doesn't cause those problems for me and beef jerky is high in protein.

    Insecure husbands?

This sounds just like me, when I met my husband I wasn't heavy either. I was 15 years old when we started dating and I weighed 118 pounds. I think the weight gain had to do with a few things, one I grew up poor and we lived off of pb&J, mac and cheese and ramen noodles. So when my husband (boyfriend at the time) would bring me McDonald 20 piece nuggets or take me out to eat it was like a huge luxury to me and I would just pig out. Around age 18 (literally like over night) I went from someone super active to not even being able to get out of bed because I was just so exhausted all the time and I was also never hungry. This went on for YEARS!! and during that time is when I gained about 100 pounds. I didn't have health insurance at the time so I never went to a doctor. Then we got married and I was on his health insurance policy. About a year into the marriage we decided to try for a baby and I ended up having miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies (one of which took my fallopian tube) so we set up an appointment with an RE and he ran a bunch of tests and that is when I discovered I had hypothyroidism. The doctor said most likely I had it for years and it was never diagnosed because I hadn't been to a doctor. My thyroid levels were through the roof he said. So I'm a little bit bitter and angry because I feel like the weight gain could have been prevented had I even known what hypothyroid was and had it diagnosed 9 years sooner. Anyways, what I meant about being in the same boat was that my husband is an enabler and spoils the crap out of me and gets me whatever I want but I really hope after this surgery he doesn't try and sabotage my weight loss efforts.
  8. That made me laugh! That is exactly what it is, she can't even keep her own secret a secret. LMAO and thank you for wishing me good luck on my surgery.
  9. I agree with brighteyes. The doctor shouldn't be yelling at you, that is wrong. There is a right and a wrong way to approach someone when you are trying to get your point across and it sounds like the doctor took the wrong approach. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience today.

    7 weeks

What's the deal with no rice? aren't you at least allowed to have a little at 7 weeks out? Sorry, I haven't gotten sleeved yet, I should be though in about 6 weeks.
  11. UPDATE: I finally got her to at least give me a time frame which helps ALOT! I told her upfront that it's going to suck if she comes during a time when I have prior commitments knowing I could have planned those commitments better to accommodate her. So according to her she is coming sometime after Christmas but before mid January. So my next question is will that give me enough time to heal if I get the surgery at the end of November, early December?
  12. No we are close but not super close. I choose not to tell anyone because for one if my mother found out she would flip the heck out. When I had an ectopic pregnancy and my tube ruptured she was screaming at my husband to tell the doctors not to take my tube (it was already ruptured and I was bleeding internally). So I don't want to take any chances of her finding out and yes my sister tends to have a big mouth. I think she is thinking that because I'm usually home (my weight has stopped me from going out and doing many things) that it doesn't matter when she shows up because she assumes that I'll just be home. It just sucks. I wish should would at least give me a time frame for her showing so I can at least go by something when I schedule my surgery.
  13. So I finally had my last NUT appointment today and she cleared me for the surgery, Yay! She said someone will be calling me in a few days to set up an appointment. Now this appointment I'm assuming is with the surgeon, right? Now that I am done with my 6 months of NUT visits, how soon will my surgery date be? I'm asking because I'm really hoping it's before December 31st since I have already met my out of pocket expenses for insurance this year. It starts up new again in January and it'll end up costing a lot more money out of pocket if I have to wait till January for the surgery. In your experience how long did it take from last NUT visit to surgery date?
  14. Yes, in her mind it's just a fun surprise. She doesn't think about things like "what if my sister won't be home" or "what if she has prior commitments". Those things don't register in her brain. Although she is in her early 20's she does still think much like a young teenage girl and does feel like everyone should drop what they are doing for her. I love my sister and I'm super excited to see her and my niece but it would seriously make things easier on me if she would just tell me when she is coming so I can make sure I can fully enjoy her visit without being stuck in a hospital but or just out of surgery and in a lot of pain back at home.
  15. The problem is she already got her plane tickets (for her and her daughter), she just isn't saying what day she will be flying in or how long she is staying for. I got a call yesterday to set up an appointment with the surgeon and I was told over the phone that after that appointment the surgeon sets up a surgery date for about 4 weeks out. Now If I knew when my sister was going to be here I could kind of plan my surgery around her visit but since she isn't telling me when she is coming it's making my scheduling surgery very difficult.
  16. Didn't you have to do a liquid diet for 7 to 10 days before your surgery? Were you able to eat at thanksgiving last year? I'm thinking no matter what I won't be able to enjoy a thanksgiving dinner.
  17. What do you mean photographed? Do the doctors take your pictures for before and after to share with other patients? omg, I hope not!

    Insecure husbands?

I think my husband is a little insecure and sometimes I think he would rather keep me fat. Maybe I'm wrong but I do know he is an enabler. For an example, if I was dieting in the past and I would start to get grouchy he would go out and buy chocolate and tell me I should eat it because it will make me feel better, or he'll say "doesn't (fill in the blank) sound really good" like Pizza and wings or something. Knowing I'm starving and would love to have a slice of pizza and (my favorite) chicken wings. So in a way he has sabotaged my efforts in the past so of course I am now really worried how or what he'll do this time around. Now that I've made myself aware of it I don't let him do it. The last time he tried to sabotage me (about a month ago) I screamed at him, like I literally screamed at him and told him he couldn't do that anymore and that I am on to him. He totally denied what he was doing and just said "I just thought I was being nice by offering you a chocolate bar". Um no dude, you're not being nice. You are sabotaging my efforts to lose weight. Then I wonder if he is just trying to be nice (in his mind) or really trying to sabotage me. ?
  19. They called today (well Wednesday) and said the only thing they are waiting on is the report for the sleep study, so I have to call the sleep center tomorrow and request they fax over that information. I asked the lady on the phone how long will it take before I get a surgery date and she said that she can schedule me an appointment for next week if she gets the sleep study report tomorrow and then the doctor schedules that surgery about a month out from that date. So I'm probably look at sometime around Thanksgiving for the surgery *I think*.
  20. I just completed my 6 month NUT visits and during that time I was required to keep a food diary. Am I still required to keep a food diary? I know it's probably a good idea to keep a food diary but is it generally a requirement? Do you still keep a food diary?
  21. Thank you. I appreciate all the feedback. I was using a regular notepad and pen to write down everything I ate because I needed to bring my food journal to my NUT at each appointment. Writing in that everyday is not something I want to keep doing but if I can get on a website and track then I'd be more likely to remember and actually do it. I don't have a smartphone right now but in the near future I plan to get one. I think I'll wait till after I get the surgery and then I'll start to track since the food portions i'll be eating are different than the portions I'm eating now.

    It's been 1 year

Great job! Keep up the good work because you look amazing!
  23. I talked to the NUT yesterday and asked her about the pre-op diet and she said I will have to do a liquid diet for 7 to 10 days. So how do I get the 7 days and not the 10 days? lol.
  24. Does everyone going through this surgery have to do a liquid only diet before the surgery? Or does it depend on the doctor?
