Yes, it is on the Facebook site. WLS4betterlife. Check them out. Best decision I've ever made. Love Dr. Ponce and his team. -

Do you take meds like Prilosic or Nexium in the mornings. If I don't take mine, I get nauseous very easily. I would call your doc and see if they could give you some anti-nausea meds. Definitely call your doc so you don't get dehydrated.

Dr Ponce De Leon And Coordinator Laurie $4600?
ppasjm replied to AngelBaby's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I would highly recommend Trish as a coordinator. She is the most down to earth kind of person. She took my husband out to eat while I was in surgery. And checked on me several times during the day and evening of my surgery. She was with me even at 8:30 at night! Helping me get through the first day. The second day she even let me use her "American" phone so I could call my kids and let them know I was OK. I can't say enough about how much she helped me and my husband. My surgery was at INT Hospital. It cost $5500 and was worth every penny! -

Which Surgeons Are Most Recommend?
ppasjm replied to MadlyCap's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Had mine with Dr. jaime Ponce de leon. Trish being my coordinator. Would highly recommend the team. Had a fantastic experience! -
I'm only 4 weeks post op, but taking your Vitamins is very important along with getting enough Protein to help with the hair loss. Make sure your Vitamin has Biotin in it. I would think that hair loss would be the whole body if it happens. Good question to ask at your gyno visit. Let us know if your gyno has a good answer! Good luck!

HELP me choose a Surgeon in Cancun or other Mexico city
ppasjm replied to TxCalico's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi, Flew into San Diego around 11 a.m. and had surgery that same afternoon around 2 p.m. If I had to do it again, I would do it the same way. I had my surgery (Wed)8/21/2013 in Tijuana, Mx with Dr. Jaime Ponce de Leon. I went through WLS4betterlife.com. My coordinator was Trish. She was the best. She prayed for me before surgery. She patted my back to get rid of my gas after surgery. She arranged for us(myself & my husband) to stay at the Rosarito Beach Hotel which was fantastic. She arranged for everything for us except the airline reservations. Dr. Ponce's whole team is excellent. He personally checked on me several times during my 2 day stay in the hospital. A doctor was always on the floor of the hospital when I was there. The only thing missing at the hospital was wash cloths! For some reason, they don't provide any, but I brought my own. My husband had his surgery with Dr. Ponce 15 months before I did, so I came prepared. I was provided with a folder at the end of my hospital stay with a copy of my EKG,the results of my blood work-up, a receipt for what I paid($5500), a note to give to my employer for time off from work, a copy of the diet plan,a medicine instruction sheet telling you which and when to take your medicines that they send home with you, a CD with a video of my surgery, a CD with the barium leak test on it, and Trish's business card so I could call her with any questions I might have after I get home. Trish, also, gives you a little care package for the airplane with juice and water. Trish took us out for my first bowl of broth(which was delicious) at a nice little restaurant that overlooked shopping. We, also, did some shopping which was great. I came home with a beautiful silver pendant with blue opal in it. But the best part was the morning(Sat.)my husband and I went walking on the beach at 7 a.m. for an hour and I found 6 sand dollars just laying in the sand! I felt great. No pain had my last pain shot in the hospital the night before. I took 1 Tylenol once when I got home, but after that nothing. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat. I was so nervous the weekbeforehand, but once we got on the airplane to fly, my fears went away. Trish and Dr. Ponce and his "Dream Team" took all of my fears away. -

Try putting your whey protein in soup. I would usually put 1/2 scoop in it. If you are able to eat yogurt, put some in that too. Both of those solutions are what helped me get my protein in for the day. I'm 15 days out and still can't drink the protein shakes either. I've seen where people are taking their protein shakes and freezing them like a fudgesicle. I haven't tried that one yet. Good luck!

Found a shake I can tolerate
ppasjm replied to BettyLou2013's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Yes, I loved the Premier shakes preop, but can't drink them postop. Tried Muscle Milk today and that one was even worse! Tried a few of the Syntrax drinks and don't like those either. I'm just putting unflavored whey protein in the soups that I'm eating(and I use this term loosely lol)! -
Even doctors have a story to tell
ppasjm replied to lark60's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had been eating high protein/low carb and lost 3 lbs a week for 4 weeks then stalled for 4 weeks. When I upped my carb intake, I immediately lost 4 lbs in one week. Our bodies get used to having a specific number of calories each day and so it doesn't want to give up any of it's weight. When you keep your calorie levels flexible, ex. high a couple of days and then low for a few days, it breaks that cycle and we start losing weight again. -
I flew Southwest. $507 for both my husband and myself from St. Louis to San Diego

Had my surgery on Aug 21 and am feeling great! Haven't had any pain meds since leaving the hospital on the 23rd. Even my allergies have gotten better so I don't have to take meds for them. A little low energy, but geez, I just had major surgery 7 days ago! Feeling better every day. I can now drink plain water again without it hurting or tasting yucky. My stomach is starting to settle down. Not gurgling or making as much noise as those first couple of days at home. Have finally lost my water weight gained in the hospital and a couple of more lbs.

Mine took 3 weeks exactly.

How long after surgery were u functional?
ppasjm replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine at 2 pm and wasn't really coherent for the first 12 hours. After that I felt fairly normal again. Give her some more time and think positively. I'm sure everything is OK. -
Flew in to San Diego, Wednesday morning, and had surgery that afternoon at INT hospital in Tijuana.. Discharged from hospital on Friday around 1 pm. Stayed at a hotel Friday night and flew back home Saturday. My doctor was Dr. Jaime Ponce de Leon.

Are you taking vitamins? Especially, Vit. B12. The B12 should be sublingual.
