    Reflux Poll

Man O Man, I have had reflux, since getting my last fill. I have tried using the Nexium, but not helping a whole lot, tonite I tried to not eat much after 6 pm and took my Nexium, but I can feel the burping starting. I hope I don't need to get unfilled, cause my doc is on vacation. any encouragement that maybe it will go away, huh??? anyone??? help me
  2. OK, now you guys got me worried, I have been banded since 8/29/07 and my last fill before the one last week was in Oct. When I got the fill last week, it was too tight and I had to go back and he took out .25 cc, from the .5 cc he put in, but now I have acid reflux at night, I have never had reflux before this. I am taking Nexium as prescribed, but last night it didn't work. I don't want to have to go back to take out anymore, cause I like the restriction I have now. Any advice?
  3. Hey there WOW, so whats up with you, had your surgery yet??? keep me posted

  4. OK, get this almost the same type of story, nothing to do with the band though. We were taking sandwich fixing up the mountain (think high elevation) and we had purchased a bottle of the squeeze type of mayonaise and when we got to the top, I couldn't get the dang foil off the lid, so I used my teeth to pull it free, and yup, just like you, I ended up with mayo ALL OVER MY FACE. But at least it was good for the skin..... right??????? oh well. thought I'd just share the story. But yes the things we do for diets....

I have an appt with Dr. Fowler at 9:45 am on the 22nd for a fill, I am not sure I need one, but I have been eating so much lately that I need to do something, so I hope the added fill will get me going again. Slow Losers Unite!

Mahalo, and "us" being short the weight really shows fast. I myself am 5' 1" so I can relate. Thanks again for the advice. I haven't tracked my calorie intake for the past few months although I would say on a good day for me, my intake is about 1000 calories. so how much lower would I go, I have heard that too little is not good either? I am soooooo confused.

    Slow Losers Unite!

WOW, shortgal, thanks for the quick reply. But what I want to know is how little calories should I be taking in. I am not starving, but I guess the head hunger is getting the best of me. Maybe when my visitors leave I can get back on track. I pretty much do the same routine at the gym. only because there is only one elliptical and one treadmill working and the treadmill gives me shin splints so I use the elliptical all the time. But I figure that the same workout is better than no workout, right ????

    Slow Losers Unite!

Aloha all, can I join too? I am definately a slow loser. I was banded 8/29/07 and have lost 68 lbs, but most of that was in the first few months, in the last few months I have gained and lost the same 5 or 6 lbs. I go to the gym on the average 5 days a week. I know I am not eating as well as I should, but before the band I ate a TON of food and had the same weight all the time, not too much of a large gain. Go figure. But I hope you all can provide me with some tips or encouragement. Good Luck everyone..

    Hawaii pre & post bansters

Hi Siri,, It was nice to meet you. I hope all goes well with your doc on Sat. I just came from the store and met another of Dr. Fowlers patients, and she has lost 75 lbs since her banding. on 10/22/07, and I thought I was doing well. I am so jealous. Well, it just makes me want to try harder. I hope all goes well with you Miriam. I just talked to Lisa today, and told her I wanted to come to Oahu to spend some time with my daughter and maybe get to meet up with you guys also. We will see.
  14. Aloha there Sweety,

ALL food hurts. Am I too tight?

Definately sounds like you are too tight. But check with your doctor. My band is not finicky like yours sounds like it is, but you do need to be able to eat.

How do I want my fill to feel?

My surgeon told me that if I am able to just eat whatever I want, and large bites of it, then I need a fill. Also take into consideration the amount of food you are able to eat at one sitting. Right now I have to be careful that I dont just eat without paying attention or I will get stuck. So I consider myself with adequate restriction. But you should check with your surgeon just to be sure. You dont want to be too tight.

    In the morning

Same here for me, too tight in the AM for food most of the time, or it takes absolutely forever to eat a small amount, so I just have a protein shake in the morning. That way I also get my protein requirement. Good Luck to you.

    Anyone from WV???

Aloha, I am not from West Virginia, but my in-laws are from there, we were just there visiting, and we found out that my sister in law is in the diet stage, you know, having to do the 6 months of dieting before her insurance will accept her, she is hoping to have the lap band done in 7 months from now, she is from Milton, WV. I think she would be having her surgery at St. Mary's? Does that sound right? We have given her this website, hope she visits here and gets all the info she needs. Good Luck....

    Hawaii pre & post bansters

Hi Nahealani, My hubby and I will be going to the informational seminar on the 19th of March. We have both been banded, he had his done 7/11/07, and I had mine done 8/29/07, we have had great success. It really does help that we have had it done together and that we are there to support each other. I think they will be showing our before pictures at the seminar. My name is Beverly and my hubby is Dave, I hope to see you there. I can tell you that it is the best thing that we have ever done for ourselves and our children. Ask your hubby..... Wouldn't he want you around long enough to care for you children and grandchildren?????? How about to share a long life together??????? I am here for you. Hope all goes well. Definately come talk to me on the 19th. Mescla? how about you are you free that night for a chat after the seminar???? anyone else????/

Cover and support belly&band when exercising

Wow, I can feel my port, but I have never had any problems with it. I do leg curls while on my stomach at the gym and have no pain or anything, maybe I am just lucky. Sometimes my hubby and I use those compression shirts at the gym. I find them just OK, but my hubby really likes them. I have one in the short sleeve type. I could not wear a long sleeve to the gym. I would feel like I was suffocating. Good Luck all.

    Treadmill VS Elliptical

If I had to chose just one machine, I would choose the ellipitical, I get a better workout. I tend to get shin splints if I do the treadmill too often. Although I have heard that the calorie readout on the ellipitical may not be as accurate. They said that if the readout says that you burn over 700 calories in an hour that is wrong. But some of you are right, that any workout is good, and to switch between different machines in even better. Keep up the good work everyone!!!!!!

    Chicken Fight

Well it sure does take your appetite away, and then you don't eat some more, a little good, with the bad. All part of the learning process I suppose. Been there, done that....Maybe I'll get a shirt to prove it. LOL
