I had no wait. I scheduled my surgery 2 weeks after my initial appointment. It was awesome.

I eat cooked spinach with no problems. Never heard of this. I'd be interested to know why....

So... This week made 9 months post op VSG-- LOVE my little sleeve (Mikey). Getting enough Protein but slacking a little on the Water intake (which I'm paying for this week w/ heart palpitations). I'm exercising most days a week, which I'm really enjoying.
I've been getting random complements from strangers-- that's cool. And I love walking in heels all day long. Lol.
I still don't (and won't) eat any breads, Pasta, rice, or potatoes. I've only lost 1 lb in the past month-- but as long as the scale is moving downward, I'm happy.
Oh, and I ate crawfish for the first time since surgery-- yum. I managed to get through King Cake season w/o giving in & I'm finding Lent a little easier on the diet. lol
New goals:
- increase Water intake from 40 oz to 60 oz
- lose 2 lbs by the 1st week of May (my next follow up appointment)
- save $$ for plastic surgery

B: oatmeal 3/8 cup -- 7.8g
S: Quest bar -- 21g
L: chicken 3oz -- 26.4g
S: 1/8 c. cashews + raisins + 2 beef Jerky nuggets -- 2.5g + 0.5g + 5g
D: We ate out: chicken 1 oz + 2 riceless rolls -- ~ 14 g
S: sf hot chocolate-- 10g
Total protein= 87.2g
Vitamins: 2 Flintstones, 2 Tums, 2 B12, 2 Biotin, 1 Colace all spread throughout the day.

I agree with a lower carb diet. Also take into consideration how the carb is metabolized by your body-- potatoes are the worst-- I'll be avoiding those forever (and happy about it).

Ok, I'm in my 20's, ht of 4'11", with a starting weight wt of 240.
Current weight= 135.
I've never had children. I exercise religiously. I moisturize and exfoliate my skin daily. I do my best with Water intake and all that. I also wear compressions during exercising.
I must say, I look damn good........... In clothing.
Underneath, I'm a total mess of loose skin, saggy boobs, and hanging belly.
But I can deal with that better than the extra 105lbs. I do plan on having cosmetic surgery in the future, but until then, I'll just tuck in the hanging flaps , cover the bat wings, and roll up the boobs.

Although for us 80-100 grams of Protein is a "high-protein" diet (compared to the amount of calories we take in)- it's not high. I know people who aim for +300 grams per day. I'm with Recycled- get a different doc to sign off on it. HAs any other doctor told you you had a murmur? Glad it checked to be nothing though.

Mine is Mikey. But only when it's being picky.

Call him tomorrow and ask.
I started walking week 1 (and light hand weights: 5lbs) and was cleared for more strenuous activity week 6. But it just depends on your situation and doctor's preferances.

What I bought and actually used: (I realize this May not be everyone's list)
-1 oz measuring cups, you can use 1 oz shot glasses if you have them (ok, I didn't actually buy this, I stole 1 oz medicine cups from work, oops)
- a pill case for my Vitamins on the go (I still use this a few times a week, you can use a ziplock bag)
- a blender (I didn't own one, so I bought a Ninja- still use it)
- for the first week: sugar free Popsicles, broth, Water, sugar free Jello (keep in mind you won't be taking in much, don't go crazy)
- I also bought small 4 oz ramekins (not a must, but I actually eat out of them or bake in them nearly every day)
- blender bottles (we have many as my husband is a Protein drinker as well)
- Gas X strips

Sushi- I eat it a few times a month with no rice, love it.
Not drinking with meals- it's no big deal now. I don't even think of it anymore.
Beer- can't help you there, I've never drank beer.
Disney- please make sure you get enough fluids and food while on vacation. I failed to do so at a football game a couple months out- I seriously thought I was going to die.
Good luck!

I'm thinking maybe fasting only on Fridays for this year (possibly Wednesdays too). And of course, no meat on Fridays.

Thanks y'all!!!!

Any post-op Catholics fasting during Lent? If so, what types of rules are you following?
Any tips appreciated...
I'm nearly 9 months post op and healthy, so I feel I can do this in some capacity.
(Any other religions feel free to chime in--- Muslims during Ramadan, Did you fast? Was it difficult?)
Thanks y'all!

And be careful about not swallowing air
-
Right after surgery you won't be in the mood for that either. He'll have to learn to pleasure himself for a couple days.
And you'll probably want sex before you want to swallow, js.
It was a few weeks before I was brave enough for that-- I was afraid it'd come back up! lol

How soon after surgery are we talking??

That's funny bc most Drs will tell you they prefer solid over Liquid Protein. I'd ask your surgeon to be sure this follows his/her plan.

No rice for either raw or not: raw fish with a little sauce, maybe a speck of avocado. Or regular cooked rolls with no rice: made the same way with either seaweed or soy paper on the outside- they can also wrap it in thin slices of cucumber.
Curious about riceless rolls. Can you explain or describe? ThanksI'm not a believer in "all things are ok in moderation." I'm happy not to eat these things now. I'd rather fill my belly up with other things.
And now I order sushi / rolls without rice- yum!
Here's a photo I took earlier this week when eating with a friend: rice at top, no rice at bottom

That's the same I had: Clear Liquids the day before, nothing after midnight. I chose to do an extra day of liquids to prepare for the MagCitrate cleanse. Lol
