    Muscle cramps

Usually dehydration causes muscle cramps before electrolytes would. Try rehydration until you can get to your doc for blood work. Good luck!!

    Quest Bars- How Often?

I have Quest bars (also trying Krave bars for a change) quite often. I like them best: easy to eat, I think it tastes good, and the carb/calorie/protein count makes me happy.

    In And Out?

I also have to disclose that my surgeon makes "house calls" and visits you the night of and day after surgery. So, not the same situation. Also, my mother and I are both registered nurses. I figured we had this handled. Lol

    In And Out?

I had my surgery outpatient and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I was more comfortable outside the hospital & there was no need to stay longer than a couple hours after surgery.

    Change in tastes?

I don't like sweets either anymore. Cake & brownies just gross me out. I do however eat Greek yogurt & cottage cheese-- which I NEVER would have touched before.

Not to be bubble-bursting, but working out won't prevent sagging skin.

    What is Onederland?!

The happiest place on Earth... Besides Disney of course.
  13. About me: My name is Misty. I'm 26 years young. No children. I've been a nurse for 5 years (currently working ER- love). I've been overweight ever since I can remember (I was def the largest in my 1st grade class). After high school & out of sports, my weight ballooned out of control. But (like many addicts) I was in denial. (Side note: no, I don't believe every obese person is an addict). After realizing how much my obesity was affecting my health, my job, and daily activities, I decided I needed a change. After MANY failed diet attempts, I had my sleeve with Dr. Borland in New Iberia, LA (self-pay). food no longer controls my life. I don't live to eat. I'm fit and healthy and active. I never could have imagined this life for myself. It's truly amazing. 1 year since my VSG.... Height: 4' 11" Highest weight: 245 lbs Surgery weight: 240 lbs Current weight: 128 lbs 112 pounds down!! ???? Largest size: 24 Current size: 6/8 I still have goals I want to meet, but I am so happy with my progress thus far. How do I feel?.... Healthy, fit, alive, AWESOME What do I do?.... I follow MY rules (which I know isn't everyone's rules ????). I run. I lift. I'm a yogi. I enjoy myself.

    Stupid weight loss advice

I was told (after surgery) by a very overweight woman (eating a Chick-Fil-A sand which) that "protein makes you fat"...

    Gym (lifting) frustrations

@@inittothinit - Thanks! And you're right, any weight is better than no weight!
  17. I'm a year out now and I've been exercising since the beginning. Walking at first, then jogging/running. I attend yoga classes, BodyFlow classes (think: yoga, Pilates), CxWorx (core exercise classes), and workout at home (30 lb weight & body weight exercises). I'm just so happy with my 112 lb weight loss! Here's my frustration: When I was 170 -180 lbs (nearly a decade ago), I used to lift heavier weights (bench press 75 lbs, leg press +900). So, nowhere near bodybuilder, but somewhat strong for a girl under 5'. I then gained weight/ stopped exercising/ stopped lifting... Then came wls... My current weight is 128 lbs. I figured I wouldn't be able to lift what I used to, but I didn't realize I'd be this weak. The BAR feels heavy. No really, just the bar. And leg press? 126 lbs. I feel so weak. I hate it. Yeah, yeah, Rome wasn't built in a day. Lol I'm trying to look at it this way: GREAT, I HAVE NEW GOALS TO WORK ON. But inside, I'm like, damn, what did you do to yourself??? Anyway, maybe this was more of a rant? Sorry. But any advice from those of you who enjoy weights would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! ????
  18. My doc allowed drinking after week 5. But I waited 11 months (ok, I'm not much of a drinker anyway). Lol I had 4 oz of white wine and had to CRAWL (yes, really) back to my hotel room. But I sobered up very quickly. For your first time drinking, I'd suggest around family or close friends, just to see how your stomach reacts -- don't want to embarrass yourself.

    VSG weight loss expectations

I think I lost 22 lbs my first week. 40lbs by 8 weeks. 112 lbs by a year. Obviously you lose more slowly as you have less to lose. After the first month, 1-2 lbs per week was normal until about 7 months out. Then the weight loss slowed. Now I'm losing about 1 pound per month- ish. 25 is more than reasonable in that time frame... I personally like to have smaller expectations-- less likely to be disappointed. More likely to be astounded.

    Loose skin?

** but let me disclose, I already had stretch marks on my belly, so I was going to happen no matter what.
  21. In the past year I haven't touched potatoes, rice, bread, or pasta. (Something I once thought was impossible.) It's amazing how not having it reduced the craving. I have zero desire for starchy carbs. (But I do love my fruit carbs!)
  22. Mrs.RRn

    Loose skin?

Loose skin & shrinking boob syndrome didn't happen until the very end for me (especially the boobs- probably just the last 15-20 lbs)
  23. Ah! I think I did it right! LOL
