I'm 3 weeks today and at today's appointment he encouraged me to start swimming. I'll just have to break it to the hubby that he needs to buy me a pool-- Dr's orders!

Ugg! That must be so aggravating. I've told my friends and most of my coworkers. Everyone has been super supportive. But.. The first person I told was a friend /coworker of mine. I thought he'd be a good first person to tell bc he is quite obese as well and is usually a very positive/ upbeat person. I was shocked and a little crushed when he tried to talk me out of it and had negative comments. But, aside from that, others have been supportive and encouraging (but I have kept it off FB). I just had to remember, although I was sharing this experience, the choice was personal. I didn't share for discussion, I shared out of joy.

Pre-op liquid diet: Always Required?
Mrs.RRn replied to mirabelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just on clear liquids the day before ; and I had to take 2 bottles of Mag Citrate that evening. Other than that, my doc didn't require any other dieting. -
Dont know what to do!
Mrs.RRn replied to NeverBeTheSameAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I add a little unflavored protein powder to almost everything I eat. Can you do the same? Is that allowed? -
Thanks!!

Well they did stick a pipe in your esophagus 5 days ago. Lol. I think some soreness is ok. As long as its not real pain.

Any one have issues with hot showers post surgery?
Mrs.RRn replied to seaboy81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt faint getting out of the tub yesterday. I had to sit on the edge for awhile before I felt better. It felt, to me anyway, like a blood pressure thing. Our bodies aren't used to this. -

I had a wrap done before my wedding day, and all it does is basically suck water from you. You do look temporarily a few lbs lighter. It was nice for just the day of the wedding BUT... It was kinda relaxing

Amazing!! Keep it up!!

I found small plates, bowls, and utensils to be very helpful. I also used a Ninja blender during puréed phase (I like the cup attachment for shakes), and blender bottles for shakes (the bottles w/ the sphere whisk inside).

This is a good place to start. Browse through to have an idea of what you'll be eating after, but always follow your DR's plan. Good luck!!! For me, my diet was : Week 1- Clear liquids - sugar free Jello, popsicles, Water, broth Week 2- full liquids- I started Protein shakes this week. I HATED the ones I originally bought, so I switched to Carnation Instant Breakfast no sugar added and I added unflavored Protein powder (isopure) and I had creamy Soups (no potato). Week 3- soft foods- I ate mostly canned tuna, tuna salad, chicken salad, and Greek yogurt Week 4- I'll be starting more solid foods on Tuesday. Basic rules--must drink 64oz a day, must have at least 60g of protein a day.

Magnesium Citrate-- Question for Surgery Vets
Mrs.RRn replied to Vixynne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It takes 30 minutes to 6 hrs. Honestly, out of the hundreds of times I've given magcitrate, I've never seen it take 6 hrs. Usually 30 minutes to 2 hrs. Good luck! -
Did you maybe have tape around your incisions? I didn't have staples on my incisions; I had steristrips. But some people are allergic to the adhesive in medical tape. Hope this helps. And hope it clears up soon!

NEW** self-pay in Louisiana or nearby
Mrs.RRn replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just to update this topic: I was sleeved on 6/11/13. I did choose Dr Borland, and I've been very happy with my care from him, his staff, and the staff at the surgical center. Thanks for everyone's help. I would've never heard of Dr Borland without VST. The price was $ 9800 + $270 for preop tests (labs, X-ray, EKG). -

I don't know if I necessarily dislike foods that I loved before, but I can say there's food that I don't want out of anger (that's the best way I can describe it). Like, my husband and I used to eat out all the time- hibachi fried rice was my favorite food group- now, I'm disgusted by the thought of it. I'm mad that I ate so much of it the past few years. Hopefully that attitude continues. But I used to think Greek yogurt was disgusting, and I eat it now...?? The thought of it having more protein makes it tastier. Lol
