Fresh fruit. O grape
Mrs.RRn replied to txsleeve624's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc suggested to start trying grapes, but my sleeve didn't like it-- even peeled with no seeds. I'll revisit the grape idea in a couple months. -
Have you started your Motivation Jars?

Confusion about post op food stages
Mrs.RRn replied to babsvt's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Everyone's plan is very different. If the docs aren't giving you a plan, you def need to be conservative/ safe with your choices. Maybe bring a diet to your Vermont doc and ask his opinions instead of asking him to give you a diet. ?? Here was mine: Week 1- Clear Liquids only (sugar free)- Water, sf Popsicles, sf Jello, Powerade or Gatorade zero, broth Week 2- thicker liquids- creamy Soups, v8, Protein shakes Week3- soft diet- tuna salad, chicken salad, yogurt, sf pudding Week 4 - slowly introduce more solid food starting with fish and very moist meats. Hope this helps you. -
Protein bars- helpful or harmful?
Mrs.RRn replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor eventually wants me to replace protein shakes with protein bars (which I'm not happy about, bc I'm quite comfortable w/ my shakes). But if I have a shake for a meal, I'd assume a protein bar would be a meal as well. ?? -
I'm surgeon recommends 3 meals a day. One of these meals is a protein shake. He says if you absolutely must, you may have a snack. It's so interesting how surgeons differ so much!
-
Well, congrats on your upcoming surgery! Everyone's Drs are very different, so everyones diets are different. My diet was week 1- Clear liquids, sugar free -- week 2 - thick liquids: cream soups, Protein shakes, v8.. What's your Dr's orders for you??
-
Besides being off your pain meds, you should also be able to turn completely at the waist w/o pain.
-
Sounds like you're doing fantastic! Congratulations!

Ok, I've been using unflavored Isopure in my shakes and added to food. But I've discovered unflavored does not equate to flavorless. Lol. It def has a strange flavor, but its not completely noticeable (to me) in stronger flavored foods (ex: Greek yogurt, chicken salad, or even my shakes). But I just added it to applesauce and tasted nothing but the Protein powder. It also taste strange with Beans. ... It's not completely disgusting, but it does change the taste of food. Do y'all have any recommendations for an unflavored Protein powder with a less noticeable taste??

I went out and bought some cottage cheese.. Had a little with lunch. It's delicious. Kinda reminds me of mozzarella.

This morning was my first (and hopefully last) vomiting experience. Well, the omelette was delicious- which was part of the problem. I'm feeling a little too normal and trying to eat a little too noramal-- lesson learned: EAT SLOWLY AND CHEW COMPLETLY! I just kept apologizing to my sleeve. LOL. The experience wasn't horrendous, but I did cry about throwing up protein.
-
Ok, I need to know- what does cottage cheese taste like? I want to try it bc of the high protein, but I'd feel bad to buy it, not like it, and trow it away. I do like yogurt, sour cream, Greek yogurt, things like that.. But I've never been brave enough to try cottage cheese.

No use cring over lost protein. :(
Mrs.RRn replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it was def my fault. I should've paid more attention. 18 months and no vomit- awesome! I was actually just bragging to my husband last night that I never threw up. He said I jinxed myself. Haha. -

Mrs.RRn replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we learned our lesson! And I agree with you-- I thought the vomiting experience would've been so much worse, but I guess when you only eat a couple ounces, it's not so bad. I've decided to lay low today and have a couple protein shakes-- and try some BBQ shrimp this evening -- SLOWLY! Lol -
I started a regular diet this week. And my surgeon suggested trying strawberries or grapes for my first fruits. So I'm really not sure. ???

For those who have binge eating disorder, how has it developed post-op?
Mrs.RRn replied to robocop12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only a few weeks out-- but I have no desire to binge. I really don't feel hungry, I just eat when the clock says to. But I have to say there was ALOT of mental prep before this. -
WLS Veterans---Should I Worry, or am I Just Neurotic?
Mrs.RRn replied to Vixynne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said a low grade temp and flushed skin was normal- something about your metabolism changing... I was a little sedated at the time- sorry. Lol. But I'd def let your doc know if it gets above 101. -
Does your sleeve have a name?
Mrs.RRn replied to Indigo1991's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is Mikey (like the little kid on the old Life cereal commercial... "He likes it! Hey Mikey!") -
Why you chose the sleeve
Mrs.RRn replied to corcor85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted something permanent. I didn't want to go to appointments all the time for readjusting. I didn't want to worry about slips or port flips. And I didn't want to have to get it removed in 3 yrs because of corrosion. I wanted a true lifestyle change that would be for life. Also, I've known to many people who were unsussessful with the band- especially if they have a higher BMI. Of course, this is a very personal desision, and you have to do what's best for you. But I love my sleeve. -
convince me to stay off the scale!
Mrs.RRn replied to ladybug71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the same day, and I had this issue during week 2. My dr recommended 3 meals a day, but I chose to add a snack and upped my water intake. That seemed to help bc I dropped a few more lbs. I also exercise everyday. And maybe increasing your protein to 60g would be good for you too. And during that time, I literally had to put a sign on the door to the room my scale is in saying "leave the scale alone!" Lol -
Wow! That's amazing!!

Just got home from my 3 week postop checkup. I lost 25lbs since surgery on 6/11/13. Im so excited to move my ticker! LOL. And I can now start trying more solid foods! Yeah! Baking Tuscan seasoned salmon tonight!
