So, I got the most hated comment (for me anyway) the other day: Someone congratulated me on my weight loss & asked how I did it. I'm always very open and honest about my surgery, so I told her I had the sleeve.... Her reply: "oh, I thought you did it yourself." My head said "b*tch!" But my mouth said, "well it was a lot of hard work." -- I didn't look, but I could feel her rolling her eyes, but I beat her with the flames coming out my ears. People have no clue. I WORK at this-- the results speak for themselves. I don't have to explain myself to anyone. We work hard. Pat yourself on the back! This life isn't easy-- it's high maintenance. Not everyone can do what we do. Don't let anyone's opinions bring you down.... Cheers to us! Misty

I'm snacking on this right now (one of my fav combos): Grapes, cheese stick, and nuts (cashews) What are you snacking on today???

Congrats on the loss and on that beautiful blood pressure!! I still eat no more than 4 oz at a time (snacks are usually 2oz). And I eat about 6 times per day- at least 2 hours apart. I never really time my drinking. Worst habit: I forgot to chew a shrimp yesterday, that didn't feel too good. Lol. And I'm lazy about my water intake while at work (actually I work in a pretty busy setting and sometimes just can't.) but I'm getting better- all my coworkers are making an effort to drink more water-- which is pretty cool! And I like protein suppliements a bit too much... Yeah, crazy.

@@jessicavtec1 followed you back! Can't wait to see your progress! -
Nothing has tightened up (just gets more loose as I lose) but I'm only a year and 2 months out. I doubt it will. It's pretty saggy. I'm trying to fill some of the extra space with biceps and quads. LOL. I'm sure I'll be getting a TT for the belly though. I lost about 115 lbs.

YES!! But now that my intake has normalized (just over a year out) I can eat enough to build muscle. SLOWLY but surely!

My PCP told me I'd have to check my thyroid level more often after surgery bc sometimes thyroid medication isn't absorbed as well after bariatric surgery. Luckily for me, so far my levels have stayed the same and my dose hasn't changed. Your doctor may have to adjust your dose.

Blending protein drinks causing too much air?
Mrs.RRn replied to JenBenjamin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I used to blend mine and let it sit in the refrigerator for a while (and then spoon stir if needed). That'll give the air time to escape. -
My skin: saggy, loose, wrinkly (not sure if that's a real word! LOL)

How did you survive the all liquid diet for the first 2 weeks?
Mrs.RRn replied to vbm510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Water, powerade, broth, and protein shakes. Honestly, I had no desire to eat solid foods. Even when my Dr told me to start eating, I wasn't ready. -
This made me happy happy to see. ME: day of surgery vs current I still have some work to do, but this makes me feel amazing!!!

Thanks y'all!!! It's been quite a year!! And I'm so thankful for all the support I get here!!!

I'm glad you find the photos helpful!!! That's what I was hoping for! Not the body i was after: I felt too boney. I could see all my ribs in the mirror - it just wasn't a good look for me. I wanted a little more muscle and curves. I first started yoga for a little strength.. But strength., flexibility, elongating muscles, relaxation/meditation.

Thanks! Tips: well, I just follow the rules, eat real food, no more than 4oz at a time, Protein first, no bread/rice/pasta/potatoes, drink Water, and exercise. Cravings? Minimal. I usually crave food that isn't "bad" for me... Like watermelon or Quest bars. And the few times I've given in to something I THOUGHT I wanted (like a french fry, or bite of a cupcake) it never seemed to taste as good as I remember. THANKFULLY. And yes, I exercise quite a bit. I started with mainly cardio and light (5-15 lbs wts). But after losing weight I quickly realized that's not the body shape I was after. So I began lifting heavier weights 3-4 times a day. I still do some cardio, but not every day as I had been. I also go to yoga and BodyFlow classes a few times a week.
