  1. When does your diet say to start drinking protein shakes?

    Pain lots or little?

I hear about people having so much pain, and it's quite shocking to me. My pain was VERY minimal. In fact, I left the hospital the same day and took no pain medication whatsoever. Now, the nausea was pretty bad on the other hand. The only abdominal surgery I can compare it to was my gallbladder- which was similar except I actually took pain meds for the gallbladder surgery. I didn't have gas pains for the VSG but did for the gallbladder surgery. Good luck!!
  3. Ppl say it denatures the protein... But cooking an egg denatures the protein, and I'm NOT drinking raw eggs! lol
  4. Just unsubscibed to Torrid... Don't need you anymore! And I'm not sorry about that!! :)

  5. Usually not. I know you said you've quit- just keep that up bc marijuana does interact with many medications...
  6. I've kinda just come to terms with it- it's happening whether I like it or not. Lol (I'm 25 yrs old, I do the whole exfoliation/ moisturization/ exercise/ hydration thing and whatever else... I'm nowhere near goal, but my skin is already getting loose/wrinkled)

    Bariatric friendly desserts?

Sugar free pudding w/ protein powder added... No sugar PLUS protein
  8. I think a "new normal" is the best way to look at it. I'm only 3 months out, but I haven't felt normal yet... And I'm okay with that. I TRIED to act a little too normal this past weekend (went to the LSU vs Kent State game and didn't pre plan my eating-- resulted in a hypoglycemic episode on Victory Hill-- not fun!!)

    Whats for lunch?

    I had a turkey roll-up (15g protein).

7 months out down 120 pounds

    Amazing!!! You look GREAT!!!
  11. My recovery was similar to having my gallbladder out. Just remember to take it easy... And that 8 yr olds can load a washing machine.
  12. Sleeved on June 11th, 2013--- 60 lbs gone (unofficial). And my dog (Latte) photo bombed the last one. Haha. I'm loving my sleeve!!!
  13. Ok, let's start like this: 1) STOP the bad things (you obviously know what they are) 2) start the good things (Protein, Water, exercise) 3) FORGIVE yourself and move on! And YES, follow the rules... ALL the rules.
  14. Most diets won't allow fruits or fruits juices right after surgery. My doc said no juices for quite some time.

    peanut butter

You should def ask your NUT WHY, and come educate us. My doc is fine with pb and I have it about once a week- usually in a shake (natural bp of course, no sugar). I use it when I know I'm not eating right (enough) and could use a little extra calories. But I'd love to know the reasoning behind this!

    Questions for the surgeon?!

Pre op diet? Drain? Will you be hospitalized? If so, how long?

    Months 2 & 3

At 3 months out I have lost 62 lbs: Starting weight: 240 Current weight: 178 I still have quite a bit to go (as my height is 4' 11"). I'm so happy with this progress! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my sleeve. I've learned and lived through quite a bit in the last couple months.... THE GOOD: - Doing 175 squats will not kill you - I can see my clavicles! (This was a very happy NSV for me) - Eating at restaurants and parties is more manageable than I thought (just remember: protein first) - While shopping one day, I looked down and realized I couldn't see my belly, just boobs - I reached my surgeons first goal on 7/22/13, which gave me even more motivation to keep on track - NSV: I can wrap a bath towel around me! - I entered ONEDERLAND on 7/31/13 - This, to me, is by far the most exciting... My resting heart rate went from 120's- 130's down to the 70's!!! THE BAD - "Hunger" during your time of the month: oh wow, I feel like a monster! Lol. Just a tip: don't weigh yourself during your period, it'll just lead to frustration that isn't needed!! - I've come to terms that negative people will be negative. No use in trying to please or understand these people. THE UGLY - CONSTIPATION... Def never had this as an issue before surgery. My norm before was a couple times a day. Now, a couple times a week. Um, ouch. But I recently starting taking Colace. Hopefully that'll help. - Hair loss: Ok, I knew hair loss is a side effect, and it usually happens around month 3 or 4, BUT I wasn't really prepared for what it'd actually look like... Like a horror movie! It's quite disturbing to look have hand- fulls of hair while washing it or to look down in the shower and have a hair ball the size of a chinchilla near your drain! I'm lucky I have such thick (and long) hair to begin with, which is why I think it looks so disturbing. WHAT I'M DOING: Well, what I'm supposed to be doing. Protein first, lots of water, low carbs, and exercising. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I find following this plan pretty simple. I don't feel deprived and I rarely feel hungry. It requires work, but the results are so worth the sacrifices. Just working towards and hoping for continued success!!!
  18. I felt the same about stalls and hair loss... You even know WHEN to EXPECT it... But for some reason it's still surprising and traumatic!
