Today I got my 3rd fill at my two week post up appointment for my gallbladder removal. I was pretty down about my weight loss stoping I had gone from 328 back up to 337 when i was having issues with my gallbladder. Since last tuesday I lost 13 lbs!!! Which is great hehe I havent even changed my diet actually since my gallbladder was taken out i was able to eat things.. like my tacos last night. The doc says that its common to have huge loss after getting it removed so i hope im back on track.. especially with getting my 3rd fill today for a total of 5ccs. We will see in 6 weeks how it goes! Can't wait to hear im under 300. Up until april i lost 5 lbs a week every week.. lets hope i get back to that number =D

I think that it would be an awesome idea to actual have a diagnosed complication section (make it clear that questions/concerns are not diagnosed problems) This would be a huge help to many new people coming to our boards. I've tried looking up a lot of old threads but its getting rough with all of our posts!! I mean.. lets face it many of us have had complications concering the band.. and I always loved this site because you could get both sides of the story and not all complications are a big red X for the band.. but its important ppl are making informed decisions.

i just wanna point out that its recommend you go straight liquids for the 3 days following a PB

Call me crazy.. but I think its important to stress that often those asking for "money" who are not a non profit can often be scams.. and it is a very serious offense that can result in some jail time and fines. No offense to you alatina but I've seen first hand how compassionate etc. someone can be during a time like this only to turn out to be spending the money themselves. I'd recommend instead of you trying to collect money contact some other organizations unlike the red cross. Go to http://www.fema.gov/ which has a ton of resources and things that any citizen in this country can apply for and receive if the need is proven. They aren't like the red cross.. and many other organizations arent either. If you really feel that isnt enough then start collecting supplies instead of money. Right now, im looking into 4-5 different organizations to transport and dispurse a truckload of clothing.. (plus size) which i plan to campaign through my surgeons office and various support groups, and of course the media. I will bag and tag all size, types etc. before they are off to the area.

for a real kicker.. why dont we try this challange with the same before/during/after clothes? many of you know I have taken my pic in the same outfit i wore 60 lbs earlier and I'll tell ya what.. i didnt notice it much until i saw the two outfits side by side.. someoen mentioned i looked deflated boy that was an understatement!! My suggestion: pick out an outfit that is form fitting, or somewhat tight even works... then take a piece of tape and put it on the floor of where you will take your picture every week.. (so that your picture is taken from same perspective) and once a week take the picture wearing the same outfit in the same spot, with the same amount of room between you and the picture taker. This is actually something fun to watch.. and see. You'll be amazed at what happens but it only works if you wear form fitting or tighter clothes otherwise you wont tell much!

Heres an update.. not to bad =) i can definately say gallbladder surgery was MUCH easier and better than 2 band surgeries in the same week!!! Edit: gallblader scars at this point are about 10 days out

I'm on my third fill.. going in for my forth next week. I am restricted for the first couple days then its gone. I waited longer than i should have for the fill im getting next week but i was also pretty sick lately with my gallbladder problems. It usually definately takes people at least a couple fills to find the right restriction because everyone is different. If you are really feeling to hungry then go in for another fill thats what mine always tells me. Granted my insurance is really good and pays for it. My surgeon is over cautious about my fill amount because of the problems I had in the hospital.. my first fill i couldnt even swallow without it coming back up and that was only 2ccs this time i plan to get more than normal in hopes that it lasts!!

GallBladder removal-easier than band?
katerzz replied to JulyBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
its normal for any incision to drain, mine did after my band too... I waited until the strips came right off in the shower before i removed them. The only time you need to worry is if the drainage isnt clear but cloudy or yellowish as far as the belly button one.. this has been the worse one so far for me just a few days out from surgery its looking infected (yellow pusish) so ill be going in to get an antibiotic soon. draining is healthy though.. no worry unless its not a clear Water like substance, if its thick or yellow then call your doctor. If i remember correctly its like a clear reddish color when its just normal drain -
GallBladder removal-easier than band?
katerzz replied to JulyBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my gallbladder removed wednesday after being admitted to the hospital from the ER. My white blood count was pretty high so they did it right away. The surgeon told me before hand... (he knows how rough the band surgery was for me) that it was my choice if i wanted to go home that day or not and that he was confident I would want too.. I had my surgery at 10:30 and was in my room by noonish.. At that time I was convinced I wanted to stay I got up and went to the bathroom within 30 mins of going to my room, I ate my chicken broth and they hit me up with some morphine I slept until about 5ish and when I woke up I went home. That night was fine.. no real discomforts other than getting up/down. The next day wasn't bad at all.. the last two have been pretty rough on me. Saturday we went grocery shopping (costco and walmart) and by the time I got home I took my lortabb and slept for 5 hours because i was hurting pretty bad My opinion as far as not as bad as the band surgery is kinda distorted since I had two surgeries with my band in a week so that was really rough this seemed like a walk in the park compared. -
Curious if anyone has experience with this... The last few weeks about every few days or so I get sick to my stomach.. like not puking (feels like it tho!) and not necessarily the other end kinda sick.. just realllllly icky feeling. Tonight it was about 4-5 hours after I ate like normal all of a sudden I got chills and literally felt like i was going to die. I sat on the bathroom floor for almost 30 mins thinking I was going to throw up. My whole body was freezing, but I was sweating at the same time. Any other time I feel fine, just every few days about 4-5 hours after dinner its like BAM. I can drink Water and it goes down just fine unless its mid-sick feeling then it just makes me feel worse. Its not like im not chewing or eating to fast and its been happening a lot lately. I usually will take a gas-x chewable thingie but last few times it hasnt done anything for it. My whole body hurts from my stomach to my shoulders my lower back throbs.. its very odd to me. For those of you who are gonna ask, no I'm not pregnant I had a sudden feeling that was possible so i ran out and got a stick and it was negitive. sooooooooooooooooo anyone experience this? =/

What do you miss most from pre band days?
katerzz replied to mercedes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i dont miss anything but my gallbladder (haha sorry.. have to laugh dying here) serious note.. i dont miss a thing because anything i *do* want, I have it. The reason I choose the band is because you just have to make modifications not take things out of your life. I drink 30 mins before dinner.. and i drink 30 mins after. if I feel i *must* drink during a meal, I take a couple drinks of Water. Do I tell people? Of course i'm 100% truthful about my band and open with it to everyone. I would never want to give someone the impression I'm doing this myself, especially if my story could help just 1 other person. Sure ive lost friends over it.. social life kinda went to crap for the time being but i also managed to meet some awesome people like BeautifulTina and her crazy significant other. at this point honestly i cant complain. i think of the 60 lbs i lost somewhere along the way and think to myself.. ya i really dont miss that. -
feel great now that its all over and done with lol

my surgeon, and nutritionist both say this is fairly normal and a good way to avoid actually eating that piece of steak or whatever else it is you want. It calms your mind, making this process easier on you. The SMALL amount of calories or fat is not going to make any difference.. to answer you question .. no before I was able to actually eat anything I want this was my only way to get any satisfaction for the stuff I know I couldnt eat (steak for example)

I started at 386 and I am now around 330ish I was banded in April. THe biggest problem I had was getting up/down right after surgery.. cant say that I excerise but I'm a lot more active than before and I know once i get some more weight off I'll be starting my exercise. Obviously... the bigger you are the more skin you have. Down 60 lbs I am starting to notice it.
