My mom will be staying with me for a while after, so she'll be a great help. Do you know how long it is before we're able to lift again? I'm thinking that lifting my baby in and out of her crib for her nightly bottle will be a no-no... That's where I'm having some guilt about this whole thing. It's like my whole family are going to have to make sacrifices so I can get this surgery. My hubby will have to take time off work to take care of the kids while I'm gone. I'm dragging my 62 year old mother, who never travels btw, to Mexico with me. Then when I get back, I'll be useless to my kids until I heal and therefore putting a bigger burden on my husband and mother... Yikes, sorry about that rant. I guess I needed to get that off my chest lol.

Thanks so much for posting, gibsons girl. I've recently decided to change surgeons...from Valenzuela to Kelly. Although I will be at nova hospital. You have made me confident that I made a good decision! Glad to read about how well you have been doing, and how quickly! I hope I will be able to say the same. My date is September 10th! I have a 3 year old and a 8 mo that old that need their mommy to heal quickly . Thanks again!

I'm scheduled for September 10th in Tijuana with Dr. Valenzuela/Dr. Cabrera. I'm actually now thinking about switching to Dr. Carlos Diaz because of the single incision surgery that he performs. The idea of a single incision is VERY appealing to me for the quicker recovery time as well as the cosmetic aspect. Anyone here thinking about using Dr. Diaz? I've been looking for reviews but can't seem to find much about it.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I was very close to paying my deposit with Dr. Valenzuela through MBC and you made me take a better look at Dr. Kelly as an option. I love the idea of a newer/ better equipped hospital and hotel, again thanks so much for sharing!

Dr. Diaz has done 78 and has had one leak issue. My BMI is 39, so I think I would qualify. It just freaks me out that the procedure is so new. It's nerve wracking enough going to Mexico for surgery in the first place :S.

Sisters from another mister maybe...lol. I chose to go with Dr. Valenzuela and Dr. Cabrera. I was seriously considering using Dr. Diaz for a while because he does the single incision procedure. But it's a fairly new procedure so I'm not quite comfortable going that route. Oh well, what's a few more battle scars right! . I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I'd love to hear about your experience when your feeling up to it.. Keep in touch!

I'm 5'8 1/2 and around 247 lbs with a 39 BMI. I have two beautiful little girls who need a happy healthy mommy to chase them around and who can fit on the rides at Disneyland with them! And I'm so tired of being the fattest person in the room. That's just a couple of reasons why I'm doing this. I have only told my mom, who will be travelling to Tijuana with me for support, and my awesome hubby. I'm scheduled for surgery on September 10th! I wish it was sooner, I hate to spend another summer being fat. But I've been overweight for most of my life, losing the same 50 lbs over and over so what's one more summer. Next summer will be EPIC!

Hi there. Have you found out any info about Dr. Diaz and the single incision vsg? I am also considering it but have not been able to find any feedback from previous patients. That makes me a little apprehensive to say the least...

September 10 with Dr. Valenzuela and Dr. Cabrera ... I think . May switch to Dr. Diaz for the single incision. Either way it'll still be September 10th. Plane tickets are booked :) Anyone using Dr. Valenzuela/ Dr. Cabrera know if they do any follow up once we get back home?

Yes it is second home to many of us! My husband and I lived in AB for 5 years at one point in our lives. I'm still trying to pick an exact date for the procedure. Everything has been approved with dr.kelly in Tijuana...I just have to pick a date. Which doc are you going to use? What do you think about not being able to lift more than 10lbs for a while post op? I'm kind of worried about not being able to hold my little princess ... Both of them ( I have a three year old princess as well )

I am also a Canadian going to Mexico. And I'm on maternity leave returning to work in October . My daughter was born October 16th. Where in Canada are you from? I'm in NL.
