I am a VERY happy father of a 3 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. I am an avid bass fisherman and a acute care hospital worker. I have been known to be a very awful patient.
**November 2013 update**
Changing my life after WLS has been an incredible transformation. I have been a compulsive MFP user along with the Digifit app to track all my miles and caloric burn. I utilized my heavy mountain bike rather than running for the first 5 months due to plaguing plantar fasciitis pain in my feet. Now that I have 90 less pounds and frequent new shoes it has yet to be a problem. I have semi-retired my mountain bike for a much sleeker more expensive road bike. I have been enjoying cycling the caloric burn is HIGH. I now am planning to run a half marathon with my wife in April. I continue to have challenges at work with food. I am a night shift hospital worker. My co-workers (most of them overweight and some post WLS theirselves) insist on bringing in unhealthy choices for everyone to snack on. I continue to have problems with compulsive eating at work. I find that I am not near as hungry at home. Every night I bring in plenty of healthy food for me to eat but still I end up eating candy and cookies. I would have reached my goal at least a month sooner if I was able to not eat soo much junk at work. on the 4 nights a week I am off I usually have 8-12 oz of red wine which is a big change from my regular binge drinking. I have not touched a carbonated or caffeinated drink since I started this journey and plan to never touch the stuff again. I enjoy caffeine free tea at work. I continue to have problems with dehydration. I have never had to get IV fluids but feel I have came close once. I frequently become dizzy when suddenly stranding from sitting position. I am off of my blood pressure medication and continue to take my prilosec and my vitamins as directed by my physician. My energy has been high especially lately. I have been shifting my diet to a vegetarian type diet. Lots of fruit and veggies, fish, dairy and NO red meat. I will work to try to cut chicken and pork as well. I am aiming towards a vegan diet ultimately. I enjoy clothes shopping now, attending a hockey game is much more comfortable and just having the confidence I once had when I was an active duty US Marine is wonderful. I am very satisfied with my sleeve. I have had a few meal mostly consisting of BBQ chicken,Corn cob and french bread that gave me trouble. This trouble consisted of staring at the toilet with a very uncomfortable pain in my chest feeling like I was going to vomit, but vomiting never has happened. I have found that jumping up and down works to settle things down and ease the feeling of puking. Other than that and the pending dehydration I am one happy dude. I feel like I should be constantly seeking new ways to keep things interesting. I am comitted to keeping a food diary...as long as I want to be healthy.
