    REALITY CHECK

I think all those "side effects" were there pre op...so they aren't going anywhere post op..ha.
  9. I'm fairly new around here, and am pre-sleeved, but sometimes I have to smack my forehead seeing the same questions over and over. And seeing the same questions from post-opers who were pre-opers on this site and participated in answering other folks same questions, but now all the sudden they are post-op and have forgotten everything they read. So here we go... if you've been recently sleeved, here's some things you would have already learned had you actually read some of the other posts first: - The first few weeks suck..yep, you aren't the only one. - No you won't feel as much restriction until you start eating real foods...your stomach isn't too big, nor was your bougie bigger than everyone elses. - Yes, other people have stalled between weeks 3, 4, a few months, and 6 months, and days that end in y...you are not the only one who has ever stalled, so breath easy. - Yes, that pain in your left shoulder probably is gas...so walk it off. EDIT: If that's not working, seek the advice of your surgeon...most of us are not doctors (some could be...I dunno) - Yes, other people did experience hair loss at 4ish months out (start taking your Biotin as soon as you are cleared for Vitamins if you haven't already been taking them)...if it's falling out now, it's too late to prevent it, so make sure you are eating enough Protein and taking your vitamins so it grows back. - "I've lost X pounds in X weeks...is that normal?" Gees Louise...everyone on this site is different. Our ages are different, our height, our starting weights, our preop loses, our genetics, the amount of time we've been obese, what we are actually eating, our workouts...there is no "normal", so stop asking. If you have lost and are losing, you are doing just fine...if you are in a stall, hang in there... - "Should I be able to eat this much?" Whether you should be able to or not, you are...so this question is negated. Don't try to eat as much as you can just to see how much you can eat. - Yes, you probably will have loose skin (depends again on your age, genetics, how long you've been obese, how obese you were, etc....). - No, blending fruit up into a smoothie is not considered "ok" for full liquids...that's what we call a "puree" I'm sure there is way more to add to this list, so feel free to.... I just feel like we see the same questions over and over and over and over and over and over...ha End rant I'm sure I have asked redundant questions myself, and will.... but I do try to use that thing they call "Search" or Google... Thanks to all you post-sleevers who constantly answer the same questions over and over with grace and patience

    Anyone

There's really no way to tell your body "hey, I want you to let go of some fat in this area, not that area." Where your body burns fat from is mostly genetically based. That's why some of us carry our weight different places (pear shape, apple shape, etc...). But keep on keepin' on, and when your body burns the fat in the places it wants to first, it will have no choice but to pull from the parts it would rather hold on to fat.

Im so happy i lost 80 lbs

You look great!! When did you have your surgery?
  13. rebecca_dsu

    Is it a true fear?

Are you a confrontational person? Are you able to stand up for yourself? I know a lot of us lack self confidence, and I've seen people gain it through losing the weight. For your 2 'issues'... I'd say if Mom has something to say about your money, express to her that you work hard for your money and you can spend it how you please. You can express that you are sorry she is in the prediciment that she is in, but she had her entire life to make the choices which led her to where she is, and you WILL NOT take her path nor be responsible for the fact she didn't plan for her own financial future. Reminder that you have helped her, and if she has the attitude of "you owe me", then let her know she won't be receiving help any more is she feels like she has control over YOUR money. You do NOT owe her an explanation though.... And certainly don't tell her how much the surgery was. It's none of her business! For your coworkers, if they said the first word to me I'd say "Shut it... my body, my decision, my life....go find someone else to give your opinion to, because I don't want it. And if it was a mistake in your eyes, it was mine to make, but guess what?! I don't share your opinion, so back off. You think I cheated? You try going through a major surgery, have 85% of your stomach removed, recover from that only to be able to eat a little amount of food when you want to eat more...this **** ain't easy." Stand up for yourself! Don't let other people make your decisions, and don't be so afraid of what they think. The questions are only... do you want this surgery? Do you want to be healthier? Are you willing to spend your hard earned money on it? That's it...No one else gets a vote! So in answer to your question...No! It's only a fear if you let it be... so don't Good luck to you! You are gonna rock all those people's socks off with your renewed confidence and healthier self when you get to your goal

    Crystal Light sickness

Yeah give Mio another shot if splenda doesn't bother you.... I highly recommend the Strawberry-Watermelon..ha! Also, I don't add a whole lot to mine. Just a little flavor goes a long way without having too much artificial sweetener.

    My NSVs..

Your #1 is my main reason for having this surgery! I love to hike and hate not being able to go as far or as steep as I want. Proud of you!! Keep it up!!

    June 2013 Sleevers GROUP

Collagen Protein is in those "New Whey" Protein shots at walmart.... stay away!! Ha!! Also as women, too much soy isn't good (I'm sure you've read the articles that it acts as estrogen in the body and may increase one's chances of getting breast cancer). So I definitely stick to the whey!
  17. Wonder if they offer chair massages? Atleast you could have your shoulders/upper back worked on? Or how about a nice facial instead?
  18. rebecca_dsu

    If I COULDA....I WOULDA...

((Hugs))...this most definitely is not the easy road. You can do this, and that tiny tummy you are about to get will help tons. Your potted plants are beautiful. Keep going girl And where do you live?? That view is gorgeous!!
  19. Now that's a question I wouldn't have even thought about asking... great question..ha!
  20. Have you never ranted about anything before? Infact, you are ranting at my ranting...and that's okay by me. Sorry to have offended...you can share your opinion here, just as I can. It doesn't make me dislike anyone by them asking redundant questions. Rants can be in good fun... I've had plenty rants directed towards folks like me in different situations, and really it's okay. No worries, I'm sure this thread will go *poof*...

So Full ... Is this Normal?

I second the GNC one... http://www.gnc.com/p...3593187.2108294 They also have a bigger tub...but I'd get the bag to make sure you like it first. Just remember not to add it to anything over 140 degrees or it will clump up.... (that goes for all Protein powders)

    June surgery dates

I started a list so we can find our sleeve sisters/bros...ha! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/79098-june-2013-sleevers-the-list/
  23. Dang! I knew I asked redundant questions... but I really enjoy the Rant & Rave forum anyway... there's just something about a good rant and rave that makes ya feel good. ahhhh...
  24. rebecca_dsu

So Full ... Is this Normal?

I think what you felt is normal... that was your tiny tummy saying "I was satisfied 2 bites ago... and I'm letting you know to not ignore me when I tell you I'm satisfied next time...No, I don't care that you still had food on your plate". Ha! You are learning to eat all over again, and part of that is learning to listen to your stomach, and not your eyes (or brain). As for getting in Protein, you have to be "creative". Have you tried adding some unflavored Protein powder to your puree's? Have you tried adding protein powder to your Water... (I'm preop and trying different ones, and really like the Syntrax nectar Carribbean Cooler flavor). It's all a learning process...
  25. Glad you figured it out with your surgeon... they are the source for real info if anything seems off.
