That is fantastic!!! Congrats to you and your new and improved lighter body!!

All the amazing food out there and you want Ramen Noodles?? Really? Are you a college student by chance? ha! I don't think they'd be allowed until you are well into your full food stage. But remember, they are completely carbs, and there's no Protein to them. You really need to concentrate on protein first. Don't fill your new tummy with things like that that are void of real nutrition. (Though I'm sure one or two bites won't hurt if you are in the full food stage already and are seriously jonesing for them.)

My first 20lb gone! yea!

Whoohoo Sleeve Sister!!! Great job!! -
I just looked up both on MFP... and my answer is they are both about the same. Almonds do have less carbs and more Protein, but have higher calories and fat... So it's whatever is more important to ya..ha! Cashews 1 oz: Cal. 156, Carbs 9g, Fat 12g, Protein 5g Almonds 1 oz: Cal 164, Carbs 6g, Fat 14g, Protein 6g

You need to tell him to stop being so judgmental and negative. It's your body, and once you get to goal weight you can have a slice of pizza or a cookie or whatever just like a normal person. Remind him of all the times you have tried, and remind him how those didn't work. How many times does he need to see you fail at normal diets before he gets over his "cold feet"...ridiculous. You go ahead with your surgery with or without his support. Show him that this was the right decision by losing the weight, and by golly have your slice of pizza months down the road... gees, what a jerk.

Anyone have a drain while in hospital?
rebecca_dsu replied to Sharon58's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sending you healing thoughts! Everyone's experience is different. My drain removal wasn't painful, just weird feeling. The most painful part for me was the gas pain in my shoulders on Day 2. I hope you heal quickly! -
It is very common for sleevers to get acid reflux, and that is why most docs go ahead and put us on a PPI like Nexium or Prevacid starting the day after surgery. Tell your doc about it, but if it's bothering you today, go ahead and get an OTC PPI like Prevacid and take it.

Don't you mean 60 grams of protein???

Happy belated Birthday!!! Your 30's are going to rock big time with a healthier body

Well, it's hard to tell you what to change, when we don't know what you are doing. Are you tracking every bite and beverage to make sure you are staying within your calorie range your doc told you to be in, and staying low carb? Are you working out atleast 4 times a week? If so, change up your workout routine. If you usually walk, do the eliptical. If you usually do spin class, do something like zumba instead. As for Water, it's very important...so put something in it and see if that help. Cucumber slices or crystal light, or even just a splash of cranberry juice. Sometimes that really helps to keep you from feeling nauseous. Good luck!!

Most docs want you at 600 - 800 for the whole day. So yeah, 500 calories for breakfast/brunch is a bit much. Cut the recipe in half and it will be perfect.

Pre op diet- not doing so good
rebecca_dsu replied to Nicky VSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heck yeah... I even had an "easy" preop diet (low carb, low fat). Just keep trying! And how you do on the pre-op diet is no indicator of how you'll do post-op. It's a whole different ball game -
regreting this whole thing
rebecca_dsu replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Embrace the fact that you've had this surgery, and make the most of it. You can buy new boobs (start saving now!), and can get a great butt from hiking up mountains, doing squats, or other toning exercises. I just looked through your gallery to check out these amazing curves presurgery...and the biggest curve was still your mid section... just like mine..ha! Those "curves" weren't hiding your weight...sorry. The first month sucks...everyone knows it. It will get better, and you will be able to exercise easier with some weight off of you. Don't stay in this funk. What's done is done, now make the most of it and start walking down the road of health AND hotness (even if it's just hotness when clothed). -
Am I crazy?!? What is going on here?!
rebecca_dsu replied to Flagstaffian's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I self paid... if your insurance won't cover it, and you believe it will be a good tool for you, then go ahead and self pay. -
Ketosis is when your body has switched to converting fat to fuel instead of using it's glycogen stores. It's when you are "low carbing" or not eating enough calorie wise to support your body's energy needs. Soooo...the answer is...you'll have the bad breath as long as you are burning fat for fuel

Good luck to you! I hope everything goes smoothly

Which PPI and What Dose do you take?
rebecca_dsu posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali and he gave me 20mg of Pantozol to take each day which is the same as Nexium per my notes/instructions. But he only gave me a 1 months supply (but instructed me to be on a PPI for atleast 3 months). I went to my PCP today for follow up and he wanted to start me on 40mg of Nexium, which is going to be $150 a month (EEK!!!). I have no idea why he wants to up me to 40mg if Dr. Aceves has me on 20mg of the Pantozol. Soooo...Which PPI are you taking? What is the Dose? Was it prescribed or over the counter? Trying to find a "cheaper" way to do this and don't want the extra dosage if not needed. -
I bought this one last year, and love it: http://www.soletreadmills.com/treadmills/f63-treadmill-2013

1 week post op and not feeling great
rebecca_dsu replied to nursehr80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
B-12? My doc mentioned to me if I feel fine, and then start feeling fatigue, to make sure I'm taking my sublingual B-12 because without it, I can feel tired and become anemic... just a thought. Hope you feel better soon!! -
Hey there Angel, Did you know you are more likely to die in a car crash than during surgery? I do encourage you to do research on the doctors in your area and talk to some of their former patients... don't up your chances of complications by going with a doc that doesn't have good reviews. You possibly could lose the weight on your own... I certainly tried for 6 years, and lost a good chunk. But if I would have had the sleeve to begin with, I would have been to goal for a long time already. Plus, what is the likelihood of you keeping the weight off, even if you did lose it? Do you have a good track record of dieting and gaining it back plus some like a lot of us? The sleeve will not only help you lose the weight, but keep you from over eating once you are at goal. It's your decision... but don't let the fear of surgery keep you from being sleeved. And there are 100's of people on this site who didn't die from the surgery...so take our numbers to your relatives/friends

May 20th sleevers how are y'all doing?
rebecca_dsu replied to ummsantos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can still use non-solid foods too. The premade protein shakes don't have to be refrigerated so they are great for the road. You can also buy those chicken or tuna kits (with the mayo/relish), and eat those without the crackers included. -
Woke up this morning feeling icky...
rebecca_dsu replied to DallasSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking a B-12 suppliment? My doc warned me if I felt good and all the sudden started feeling weak, it could be a B-12 deficiency...(that's assuming I'm eating and drinking normally).
