Watermelon was on my "full liquids" list... weird I know, but it is mostly water anyway.

scared of what? I'm sure your "innards" are just as protected as they were before your surgery. If you feel fine, I'm sure you are fine. Sorry you fell though

I wont be sleeved after all.. :'(
rebecca_dsu replied to kailie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't suggest a loan to someone who isn't employed. But just because you don't have the sleeve, doesn't mean you can't start losing weight to help you become mobile again. Start using MyFitnessPal, and start walking just as you would if you did have the sleeve. Start saving every dime you can, and find ways to earn money...there has to be something you can do... can you babysit, buy clothing cheap at garage sales and sell it for profit on ebay (my sister in law does this and makes great money). There has to be something you can do to earn money. I do hope you find a way to pay for surgery, but taking out a loan is not the way if you can't pay it back. -
Side effects 2 months in

Cindy, thanks for this suggestion!! I'm going to pick some up! -
Hey guys, I ordered a box of the 12 Flavor Sample Pack and 4 packs of the PB Cups. I have tried 1 pb cup (out of one of the packages, half of the free cookie dough (sweetened with Stevia) one they sent, and 1/2 of the brownie one (sweetened with Sucralose..aka splenda), and YUCK! I just can't do it. They taste overly "artificially sweetened" to me. The company is being gracious and is refunding me for them, but doesn't want me to send them back. They asked me to give them away. I know some of you really love them, so does anyone want me to mail you the rest? (11 bars and 3 packs of the pb cups...slightly melted from delivery)? A $30 value I just ask that you reimburse me the shipping costs, which I'll let you know when I mail it to you. Let me know! (First to respond wins!)

Quest Bars... Anyone want these?
rebecca_dsu replied to rebecca_dsu's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hey Ladies! I got both of your addresses, and am mailing out the packages today. Some bars are made with Stevia, and some with Sucralose, so try the different ones and see if you like both or either or neither...ha! -

rebecca_dsu replied to rebecca_dsu's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Sorry gals! I had to leave to meet some friends for dinner. I will happily ship out 2 packages with half in each. If you will PM me both of your addresses, and I'll get them out ASAP. -
Yay!! I so want to come visit you there! ha!! Great job girl!

Will I fit in the Airplane seat?
rebecca_dsu commented on Kristin1969's blog entry in Kristin1969's Blog
What airline are you flying with? Check their "customers of size" policy on their website. Airline seats are 17 to 18" wide. If you aren't flying with a person who is smaller than you and you can "share" their space (like I did with my little bitty husband), then for your comfort and the people next to you, you probably do want to buy 2 seats. Some airlines will refund the cost of the second seat if the flight isn't full. Even my arse at 260 and 5'8" is wider than 17" when seated. (to check yours, simply sit on a tape measurer. And it's not just the width of your arse, it's the broadness of your shoulders. If they are going to be over the line and into the next person's seat, then it is best to buy 2 seats (or fly business class if you have airline points or the funds). It sucks, but it's another "cost" of being obese. Happy flying! -
Just some thoughts/ideas: Don't drink anything 30 minutes before bed time. Also, try to prop yourself up and sleep on your back and see if that doesn't help keep things down. If it continues all night, I'd call my doctor in the morning.

Great job!! And I love that you have a doctor's scale in your home! Awesome

MY HAIR IS FALLING OUT!
rebecca_dsu replied to shelly13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And don't forget to get your healthy fats like Olive Oil. I've seen so many people lose hair on other diets too by not getting in those healthy fats -
My only "beef" with the body by vi shakes is that their main source of protein is soy (it's listed first on their ingredients label). Most doctors want you getting your protein from whey protein isolate. I'd check with my doctor/nutritionist...

Depending on your doc, they will have you either do: - A 2 week liquid only diet - A 2 week low carb diet - A 2 week liquid only + one low carb meal diet - A 1 week diet of one of the 3 above - A 1 day liquid only diet - Or...no diet at all. All docs are different. But if you'd like to go ahead and get use to what life will be like post sleeve, you can start doing a low carb diet (kind of like atkins). And go ahead and sign up for a tracking site like My Fitness Pal, and get use to logging what you eat/ drink. That away you will know exactly how many calories/protein/carbs you are eating. Focus on eating Proteins (lean meats, eggs, nuts/nut butters, dairy) & complex carbs (veggies). Try to limit fruits to a one or two servings a day. Also, start taking a Multivitamin every day to make sure you have all the nutrients your body needs. Good for you for wanting to go ahead and transition into a healthier eating lifestyle. I personally did horribly at that, and had too many "food funerals" presurgery.

22lbs in the first week?! No wonder the scale didn't move the second week! You are doing just fine. Great job on not letting that scale get to you!

4 weeks out need protein help
rebecca_dsu replied to dork's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Here's my list... I just started soft foods today, so some of these are new to me: - SF Jello pudding infused with Protein powder (I make the box per directions and mix in 1 scoop unflavored protein powder) - Cottage cheese - Yoplait 100 cal greek yogurt - Atkins Protein shakes - Refried Beans w/ a little melted mexican cheese blend on top - Egg (fried in a tsp olive oil) - Peanut Butter (any kind of nut butter...almond is good too) - Protein Bars that are low carb... many like the Quest Bars (gnc or online) - Soft cheeses like mozzarella sticks You can also have fish like tilapia...you don't have to stick with boring tuna -
EXERCISE 3 WEEKS POST OP
rebecca_dsu replied to sherisleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do find that I have less "umph" in the evenings. I try to get my walk in during the day. Can you go walk at lunch for 15 - 20 minutes, and then as soon as you get home in the afternoons for 15 - 20 minutes? -
I ordered the sample pack and some of the PB cups the other day. Can't wait to try them when they come in!! Thanks for your review
-
What exactly are you trying to eat? Rice & Noodles aren't going to go down for a while, and even then you won't be able to eat much. I love me some Egg Drop Soup even now... it is chinese food
-
You can do this. If you are using fat free milk, bump it up to 1 or 2%. If you are using "light" anything, use the real deal instead. Add a tablespoon of Peanut Butter to your smoothies. Get creative! Isn't it funny how we use to have so much trouble eating less, and now the problem is we need to eat more.
-
Go back to the basics... track every bite you eat in a program like MFP. Make sure you are getting in 60 - 70 (or more) Protein, and as few of carbs as possible. I know the farther out you get, the more easily "slider" foods and carbs make their way back in. And it doesn't matter how many carbs you eat, you will feel hungry not long after eating them. Get back to that protein!
-
finally on to Stage 3 (Soft Foods) today. Enjoying an egg fried in olive oil for breakfast!!! (Don't forget to eat those healthy fats...you will certainly lose your hair on any "diet" without them).

Telling the inlaws...
rebecca_dsu replied to GBFree82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck!!! I chose to wait and tell my in-laws AFTER I had the surgery. I was afraid they would try to talk me out of it. (They are all normal weight...so they don't quite get my struggle with being obese). When we told them afterwards, they were all supportive though. -
New sleeve-female cylce weight? :/
rebecca_dsu replied to AutismMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what you do... You take your scale, and you hide it deep within a closet for 10 days (atleast). It's Water weight girl...not fat. It will flush out just like it always does. Just don't go bazerk on chocolate and ice cream and you will be just fine. Why would your body's fluctuations with weight change just because you got sleeved? But again...it's water weight and absolutely normal. -
Are you accurately tracking all that you eat in a calorie counting program like My Fitness Pal to make sure you are in the calorie range, Protein and carb range your doc/nutritionist told you to shoot for? Also, it's perfectly normal to have a stall or up a few pounds week, here and there. The next week, you may see a huge loss. I don't think you are doing anything wrong other than not being patient...ha! You are doing just fine
