Trying to find the sweet spot at 5+ months out - Help?
mamachez replied to discoveringme's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm 8 months out and had always exercised, but at 5 months out I turned it up and started doing a strenuous hike 3-4 days a week, and it turned my body into something I hardly recognize. I consume no more than 1,100 calories a day, and about 80 grams of Protein. If you're looking for the scale to move, I suggest kicking up your exercise routine. You'll see a difference! Good luck! -

Atkins advantage shakes!
mamachez replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 months out. My favorite breakfast is 1/2 Atkins chocolate shake, 1/2 banana and 1 Tbsp peanut butter with some ice and mix it in my blender. Yummy! -
Have you been exercising? I'll be 6 months out in a few days, and have had great results, but I attribute that to a rigorous workout schedule. Don't get discouraged, but try exercising more. It has to work!

is anyone going to the West Los Angeles Kaiser for their surgery?
mamachez replied to Someonefab's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery on February 18 at Kaiser West LA - Dr. Kim was my doctor. It was a positive experience. Everything went smooth and I was treated great. Once I finished my Options classes, I had surgery 25 days later, thanks to a cancellation. As long as you don't miss a class, keep up on food logs and activity trackers, you won't be delayed. I lost 25 pounds during my options classes (more than my 10%) and found it fairly easy since I knew I had to face that scale every class. Good luck! -
I went to the doctor 11 days out and asked if I could hike and he said "yes, but listen to your body". I've been hiking several days a week since then (I'm 9 weeks out now). Of course, no lifting for 4-6 weeks out. Good luck!

Im 5 weeks out and dont know how much i should be eating?
mamachez replied to jenniferg's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm 6 weeks out and have a protein shake for breakfast, string cheese about mid morning, for lunch usually 2 oz chicken and 1/4 C veggies, sometimes an afternoon snack, and dinner is about the same size as lunch. I do find myself hungry about every 3 hours, but eating something reasonable doesn't make me feel guilty.
