I need a fill/any doctor to help me:help:. The local bariatric doctor cannot give me a fill. He tried and said that my port was unusual and he and his partner tried and couldn't fill it. The doctor who can and has in the past done my fills is in Frederick Maryland(3 hours away) and does not do fluroscopy. I haven't had a fill in over a year and was doing quite well however now am having choking fits at night...which interrupts my sleep. It really scares me. I don't want to go all the way back to Mexico. Is there any doctor that can help me in Maryland? Thanks in advance for your help.

I had my lap band done by dr.ortiz. Everything went perfectly, however just be sure that you have a doctor that will follow you here in the U.S. unless you can afford the time and money to go back to tijuana. I live in a rural area and am having difficulty finding fill docs and follow up care docs

Also will a local er doc be able to help me? I live in a rural area and I know these docs have limited if any experience with lap bands. Will they even agree to treat me when I tell them this was done in Mexico?

I am having the same problems as tybalt. I am burping all the time and it feels like I'm trying to swallow my burps...does that make sense? It just feels like something is stuck. I have made myself vomit because it feels like something is just stuck right below my sternum. I can drink water but I feel like I could throw up, although I didn't today because I wasn't near a bathroom. I hardly slept at all last night because i woke up choking. I got my band 2 years ago this month by dr. ortiz in Tijuana. My last fill was in august of 2006. I have to travel over 3 hours to get my fills. I called my doctor today (who does my fills ) and she never called me back. I tried to drink carbonated beverages but it doesn't seem to be working. I was hoping I could wait it out and eventually it would go away. I don't trust the local bariatric surgeons in my area because they just started to do lap bands 3 months ago. If I go to the ER what do you think they will do? Should I go? I'm afraid that I won't be able to sleep tonight because the stuff leaks in my throat and makes me cough something terrible. It feels like it went down the wrong tube...Any advise would be helpful

I need a fill and I am visiting las vegas in June..The only doc in Maryland that I know of that does fills is off on disabiltiy? Can I see a doc in Vegas for a fill?

Okay...I went to ticker factory...they have three choices "bbcode", "HTML", or "ezCode" I clicked into the HTML and then clicked "select all" then hit "copy" then went into a post and pressed "paste"....as you can clearly see....unsuccessful....then I went to ezCode....clicked while in the box..."select all" then "copy". Then went to post...and while in the box...I presssed paste....then hit save changes...and then it still didn't work...Is my computer on crack or what...Okay now I am hitting computer as hard as I can...okay now getting ready to throw computer across the room...

I don't know how to take "small sips" of water...maybe I'm not coordinated enough. I feel so full when I drink that I have to force myself to drink anyting because I hate to feel so "bloated". I know that I am not getting all the water in but I'm going to follow the advice about trying to clean the pouch out at night.... Okay, tell me again...I'm confused. When you eat, the food travels down into the pouch, where it stays for a while depending on the thickness or consistency of the food that you eat. so if you eat "soup on hand "(love that stuff) it will pretty much go through the stoma and then into the larger part of your stomach. Now where is the digesting taking place??...in the pouch??? the stomach?? or both. Also if one eats something that they are not supposed to say...refried beans within the first week of having the band installed,(god I feel so stupid) won't the beans kind of go though the pouch or does it just sit in the pouch for a really long time? While the beans are in the pouch do they "expand"? Someone told me that if I eat starchy stuff when I'm not supposed to like noodles in chicken noodle soup... noodles will expand and not go through the pouch as easily and that may cause a lot of pain. I guess I need clarification because my logic is pretty flawed without knowing the mechanics of how digestion takes place with the band. BTW I have been tracking my calories and today I ate the most at 1100 calories. Should I be staying at a 1000? or lower? Sorry its so wordy...Thanks everyone

Well I wish that I would have known about all the belching burping. I do it constantly especially at night. Today is my one week anniversary of having the band...yea...I think...I have also been straining to try to pass gas...sorry but it must be said...and now I think I have hemmoroids...bummer...I also do not know how to deal with cravings for foods that I just can't have...today was the worst for hunger pains. Was it too early to have refried Beans? Because I cheated and had them today. So I am watching Jay Leno tonight and they have the famous "reguitatotor" he swallows 8 balls, fish coins etc. uggh discusting...At least I haven't thrown up or had any PBing. Someone please tell me that all of this is normal...and I am going to be able to not burp etc. Thanks so much

Hi Everyone, I have decided to get banded. I am getting banded on Wed Feb 16. I am 5'6'' and 195 pounds. I have decided to have Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana do it. I have decided that this is my limit. The last time I weighed this amount was in my 9th month of pregnancy. I just told my primary doctor that I am getting banded. He said that if I had the discipline to save 9500.00 that I should have the discipline to get a trainer. He also asked me what would I do if anything happens down in Mexico. So if anyone can help me answer these questions I would be grateful. He suggested that I try phentaramine. I told him that it makes me agitated and jittery. He said that the dose could be reduced and coreg (beta-blocker) could be given to slow the heartbeat. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I am still trying to learn what threads are and how to use this site. I still don't know how to get the ticker or how to chat etc. I would be open to any suggestions on how to use this site.
