Stalling too early!
Sleevin'It replied to AutismMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all the responses. For me, I wasn't getting in my required fluid intake due to swelling in my stomach. After surgery, I had a 10lb water weight gain. It took forever for the weight to come off. Once I was able to get in more liquids, the weight starting rolling off. I'm currently in another small stall, but I know it will continue to drop. Good luck! -
I definitely had remorse and the what in world did i do to myself moments, especially during my first month when I was having trouble with intake. It turned out that I had significant swelling that was causing all of my problems. Luckily, my doctors kept waiting, not wanting to scope me to increase my stomach size, because it healed on its own. Now, at almost 3 months out, I'm almost 60lbs down and feeling great! I'm still learning my sleeve, and learning the process that's best for me. Good luck and know that your life can change in amazing ways after surgery

Tips for a Spouse
Sleevin'It replied to HeyJupiter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First if all, thank you for being such a loving husband. Your wife is indeed a lucky lady. My suggestions are the same as above. Her moods may be all over the place, but it's normal. She needs to move as much as possible, but she may have a hard time at first. It gets better. Encourage her to drink every hour or so, to keep hydrated. I had issues with gas, so I used gas-x strips, which helped. And make sure she takes her pain meds as needed. Good luck to you both! I wish her a speedy recovery! -

It might be that you're a little dehydrated. After surgery, I felt like I had a different smell and tried to increase my liquid intake. Once I did, it got better. Good luck!

Yeah, that's my speed too! Maybe I should build my stamina up and then go for it. But when I do, watch out! Booty shaking is a happenin'! Lol

I can totally relate. I started off 22/24 and now I'm in a 16. I bought a black capri and blue Capri for the summer a few weeks ago. Now they're already fitting me loose and the summer hasn't even started. After washing the clothes, when I pull them out of the dryer or I'm packing to go on a trip, I wonder if they shrank in the dryer?!? There's no way these clothes will fit me! But they do, and are getting loose! It's so bizarre!

I keep wanting to try Zumba but I haven't yet. I think I'm intimidated, mostly because I'm not in shape, at all! But I really want to get in there and shake my booty!

Macy6, like MichiganChic, I have been overweight my entire nursing career and I have not had any issues finding or keeping a job because of my weight. I, too, am sorry that you had to go through that uncomfortable talk. Good luck! -

I've noticed that preop, I loved spicy food. Postop, I can barely tolerate them. I get a indigestion feeling. Maybe it was the hot sauce. Good luck, hopefully you'll feel better soon! -

My dr told me to have Imodium handy in case this happens. Call your dr office in the morning to make sure you can take some. Good luck and stay hydrated, as best you can. -
