  1. So I know I am going to be told that this is normal but I just need some suggestions on how to get past this! I had my surgery April 11th. I lost 25 pounds the first 2 weeks (starting weight was 248) and then nothing since! I have actually gained 1 pound. The only difference is I am able to add in some meats....fish, tuna, canned chicken, etc... I have no idea what to do to get the weight loss started agin. Thinking about going back to all liquids for awhile to see if that helps. I didn't have this surgery to lose 25 pounds and then stop. I know that wont be the case but I really thought the weight loss wouldn't have stopped so soon. Any suggestions welcome!!!

    Carbonated Beverages

I was told no carbonated drinks at all. The carbonation can expand your stomach or bust through the stitch. That's just why my dr told me!
  3. How did you get past it? I know part of my issue is protein intake. I can't eat much at a time so it's hard to get it all in. I also am running out of ideas for breakfast. I just started some solids this week (fish, tuna, canned chicken, etc). I am not complaining at all...I am down 20 pounds which is amazing but I want to make sure I am doing everything I can to lose and still follow the plan! I didn't have the surgery just to find ways to cheat so any suggestions on the right way to kick start the weight loss again?
  4. I believe it is normal. I had this same thing after surgery and was told it was gas from the surgery. Once they took the drainage tube out and I was able to move around more it was better. I am 12 days post op and have not had that feeling since I left the hospital.

Whats the hardest part for you?!

My fears are: 1. Loosing hair, 2. Loose skin and 3. That I put my body through this and it won't work.....

    How long ?

I just had my surgery last week and it was 1 1/2 hrs. Maybe your dr meant from checking time at the hospital to end of surgery. I checked in at 6:00, had surgery at 9:00 and was in recovery at 10:30.

    Did you have second thoughts?

I didn't have any second thoughts prior to surgery (I am a week post op today). I did however feel regret immediately after. Then day after surgery I had a breakdown when the bariatric nurse came in to see me. I asked her if anyone ever regrets having the surgery because at that moment I did. She said most people do immediately after but the majority don't the further they get into recovery. I am only a week out but honestly I don't feel bad, just trying to learn the new lifestyle. Pain has not been bad and recovery has been pretty easy. I actually have started to wonder if something was done incorrectly or maybe my doc didn't take out enough because I read all the stories on here of the issues after surgery and I am not having any of them. I guess I should be thankful that I haven't but I just want to make sure I didn't go through surgery for nothing...does that make sense? Anyway....don't be surprised if you wake up after surgery and wonder what the heck you just did to your body! I know it will be worth it in the end!!! Good luck and let us know how it all works out!

    Non flavored protein

I like the Unjury unflavored or Beneprotein. Unjury has more protein though. I can't taste it in anything I have put it in so far!

    Newbie Here

Thank you all for the pointers. Day 3 post op and i am feeling pretty good. I have not been able to get in all the protein I should so I am a little worried about how to accomplish that. Pain has been minimal. I have all kinds of noises going on in my tummy....hope that passes!!!! :-). All in all it has been a pretty easy time, hoping that continues!!!! I am so thankful I have found this site. I have found a lot of helpful information on here and y'all have been wonderful!!!

  12. I have surgery tomorrow and was on a one week liquid diet. The first couple of days are the hardest (day 2 & 3 for me were the worst). If you can get through that it will be easy. To make it the rest of the way! Just keep thinking about the light at the end!!! Congrats!!!
