  1. I feel like such a loser! I was sleeved 9/17/13 and the first week post op I lost 15 pounds - which was awesome! Since then, my weight loss has slowed WAY down! I weighed today after not weighing for two weeks and I had only lost 3.5 pounds. I was so disappointed. I asked my doc if I was doing something wrong. I just don't understand how I could be eating so little and not losing more! I've lost a total of 21 pounds since surgery and I'm 4 weeks post op today. I'm really starting to wonder if I've made the right decision! This is miserable! I can't eat anything AND I'm NOT losing (enough) weight! I really thought I was going to lose a lot faster! I've got a LOT to lose and it just seems like it's not going to happen for me. I'm just so depressed! Part of the reason I had this surgery is so my husband and I could have another child. I have PCOS and I'm not ovulating now. This is just so frustrating! I have no idea what to do. I also walk 2 miles a day 4-5 days a week.
  2. This is me! I was uncomfortable in the hospital, but that's been it! I've been just great since surgery, never thrown up, can tolerate everything I've tried so far! I'm 4 weeks post op as of today! I just keep waiting for it to hit the fan! I keep feeling like I should be miserable or something.
  3. I used the protein shots from Walmart. Its about $10 for a six pack, but they're 2.9 ounces and easier to get down than regular protein. That's what I used a few weeks after surgery because I couldn't stomach the regular whey protein.

    Drive Home?

I didn't drive myself home, but I did drive the day I got home. I wasn't taking pain meds except at night and I was fine. I was actually not supposed to for like a week - but I couldn't help it. I had to drive a little.
  5. I wonder about this too! I'm almost 4 weeks post op and I can't really feel anything. I don't feel hunger and I can't really tell when anything is in there. Only in the mornings, I feel sort of empty and can hear my belly grumble, when I drink a little cold water I can feel go down - that's about it though. I have no idea if I'm eating too much or too little. I just can't feel anything in there at all. It's like my stomach is numb.

    Crushing medicine

I crushed or opened mind, put it in a spoon, kind of pour it back in my mouth as far as I could, and then got a sip of water or juice. It was easier that way for me. I tried mixing it and a few other thing and the meds kept sticking inside my mouth. Eck.
  7. Also, try adding a SF flavoring packet to your water. I had a hard time with plain water the first two weeks, but I'm almost 4 weeks out now and have no problem with it.
  8. I'd call the doctor. My doctor gave me her cell phone number in case of an emergency. If yours did that, I'd make a call. That was one of the things on the list my doc gave me that needs immediate attention!

    .....things my NUT says

That seems a little harsh. My NUT is super awesome. We don't drink cows milk in my house, we drink almond milk, and she was nice enough to give me some guidelines (as far as fat, cals, and carbs) go so that I could make good choices. If she just started telling me you can't have this, you can't have that I would have a hard time taking her advice.

    Cream of potato soup?

No potatoes for me. My doc says no potatoes, corn, or peas.
  11. I get to have eggs and cheese on Wednesday. I am counting the minutes!!! LOL

    Sleeve Myths or Reality?

My doc says bread, rice, and pasta continue to swell in your stomach - plus its got a lot of carbs.

    Today is the Day!

    Good luck today guys!!!
  16. I should have mentioned too that once most of my gas was gone, so was my nausea. Right after surgery, when is have a gas bubblevin my stomach, I'd feel like I was going to throw up and then I would burp and feel better.

    Coconut Oil

I use it to make my own deodorant as well.
  18. I haven't heard the first negative thing. I told my entire family and everyone was super supportive of me having the surgery. Everyone is super supportive now that I'm post op. It definitely made things a lot easier for me.
  19. My doc said no exercise other than walking for six weeks. Has anyone else been moody? I'm almost 3 weeks post op and I'm just moody all the time. Everything annoys me right now! I'm hateful all the time - it's driving me nuts! Is this normal?
  20. 1. Day 5 was hard for me. I had a total breakdown and cried most of the day. I didn't regret the surgery, but I missed not being able to eat. I wasn't even hungry - but I just WANTED to eat. I wanted chips, a burger, or anything that wasn't just liquid. 2. I really thought things would taste a lot different. I am almost 3 weeks post op and so far everything I've tried tastes exactly the same. I thought I was going to constantly be sick and I've not even thrown up once. Also, I guess I kind of expected to wake up a new person, but I didn't. I'm still me. I just eat a lot less. 3. I researched for years before actually having the surgery. I knew what I was getting into. I do wish I'd had better coping skills for head hunger, but that's pretty much went away at this point. The first week was the hardest, the second week I only experienced head hunger a couple of times, and now I just don't do it. I honestly think that has a lot to do with exercise. Exercising keeps me focused on something else and I'm getting to the point that I feel better when I exercise, so I guess my brain is just distracted.

    Do you think...?

I lost 15 pounds my first week after surgery. My second week I lost 2.5. I was kind of disappointed, but at least I went down instead of up.

Body changes to expect after VSG

I'm a little over two weeks post op and I feel exactly like I did before surgery except I don't get hungry and a little soup goes a long way. My first week I was sensitive to anything sweet - I couldn't eat the Jell-O in the hospital. But now I feel like my old self. Everything I've tried tastes pretty much the same and I've tolerated everything well. That's something I expected to be different after surgery, but it didn't. I'm still me.
  23. Went in today for a followup, I'm two weeks post op today, I lost 2 1/2 pounds. I lost 15 my first week. I was hoping is lost more. I mean, I'm glad I went down but its not what I expected.

    Disappointed

Well, I ended up being a little dehydrated too. I had to get 2 liters of fluid today as well. Of course, they couldn't stick me so I got stuck 5 times before they finally got an I.V. in. It's been a long day.

    Questions for women only

I'll be 2 weeks post op tomorrow and I haven't had intercourse yet - although we've been keeping each other happy. I'm honestly a little scared to start doing it soon! It may sound ridiculous, but I'm seriously afraid of shaking my staples loose or something! LOL!
