Freaking Out....is this normal 13 days pre-op
sixbuttons replied to Letty1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely think this is the best option for some people. I know that if I don't do something drastic, that I won't live much longer. I just keep gaining weight and the more I gain the worse I feel physically. My body is just breaking down. It's been too abused. I know that without this surgery I don't stand a chance. I have a three year old son that I just can't leave behind. -
GOOD THURSDAY!

Congrats! Glad you had a good day! -
I'm curious about this as well. I only drink about twice a year - like on New Years and July 4th but I'm still curious to know if it's something I'll have to give up.

Freaking Out....is this normal 13 days pre-op

I'm only in my second month (I have six months of insurance requirements) and I'm freaking out! I keep thinking that somehow I'm going to be the exception - I will be the one who doesn't lose even one pound even after having my gut cut out! I know that's not going to be the case, but I've had so many attempts at weight loss that have all failed - I just can't keep that little seed of doubt out of my mind. -
What is your diet like six months out?

I'm curious about this too. Someone told me that you aren't supposed to eat bread until at least six months after surgery because the dough can make a ball in your stomach and get stuck. -
Great quote! And congrats on the surgery!

I've decided to have the sleeve surgery and my doctor said she thought that would be a good choice. I thought at first that the long line of staples would just dissolve eventually until I did some research and found out that they will just stay in there forever and scar tissue will form over them. Anyway, I asked my doctor about that and I can't remember exactly what she said, but she did tell me that they get pushed out eventually and you will just poop them out. Has anyone else heard this?
-
Yeah, I can see that...lol. I do wish they dissolved eventually though. It freaks me out think about something foreign being inside my body. I swallowed one of my braces when I was a teenager and I've never forgotten about it ... I've always wondered if it's still in there! LOL
-
Maybe the doctor just misunderstood what I asked or something because I thought that sounded strange. I was just wondering about the staples tearing if I overate or something and somehow that conversation evolved into the staples coming out...lol

I have to have a psych eval for my insurance. I go in a couple of weeks to do mine.

To tell or not to tell

I know how you feel! I've only told a handful of people because I don't want comments, rude remarks, or opinions. I've told my aunt, parents, and husband. That's it. My insurance is so crazy I have to jump through hoops before I can have surgery, so I don't want to tell everyone in case something were to happen and I'm not able to have surgery. Plus, it's embarrassing for me. I feel like such a failure and I'm having to destroy my body just to be "normal." -
Is there anyone around Pikeville, Ky?
