Plastics on you face. Would you or did you ?
skinnygirl2b replied to 1sunnuri's topic in The Gals' Room
Oh wow. 3 years- you're right it should have come back by now - I'm sorry to hear that. -
it's good to have support and a little extra encouragement. I am like an open book so I tell everyone. Some people don't understand it but most are very proud of me for doing it. People have even approached me about having surgery and are seeing my surgeon so I feel good if I can help somebody else. My mother lives in SC so it's nice to surprise her with my changing size every few months.

Having help and a little extra encouragement is good. I am an open book and I tell everyone. Some people don't understand it but I don't pay it any attention. I'm so happy with the outcome nothing they can say could ever discourage me. My mother lives in SC so it's nice to see her every few months and surprise her with an even smaller daughter. Everyone else, especially people I work with at the hospital and the attic surgeons office are very proud of me and several have said they were going to see my surgeon who I think is fantastic.

Yes I know the feeling. I just move around. I don't eat appetizers because I say I'm saving up for dinner. Then I wait for everyone else to start eating before I fix my small plate and then I push it all around my plate to look like I ate more. Then I jump up and start cleaning before anyone notices I didn't eat much.

Did I forget to say it is the absolute best decision I Ever made?

If I could give any one piece of Advice is to trust the system. There are going to be times that you are going to stall and think it's not working like so many other diets but it works!! I am now able to eat small portions of anything and it's more than a few bites. Initially eating became very "uneventful" but it gave me time to make changes in my choices and now I make better decisions overall. eat as much protein as you can!! You'll be so sick of it but it will be worth it. My hw was 232 before insurance approval. My sw was 218. I am now 147 so I'm down 85 from my highest weight. I wear a size small scrubs to work and I work for a plastic surgeon. I am having a tummy tuck and breast lift April 9th.

Good luck to you both. 3/26 will be my one year surgiversary so I consider it a lucky day!!

I would really like to find more people who have had a face lift and find out if this numbness is realy common. I keep wondering if he had not removed so much fat out of my face, if the numbness would be the same. I don't know where the nerves get cut. I am a nurse for a plastic surgeon. He does a lot of face work and the numbness happens to everyone. not to be graphic but the nerve endings have to reattach to the new face and it takes a while to do that. Same with someone that has liposuction. The nerve endings are detached. It could last up to 6 months. How long ago was your surgery? -

Bea, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! So happy for you! Accomplishments should be shared- never apologize for that- good for you. -
Have had the mirena for about 1.5 years. The first six months were painful with a lot of spotting and breakthrough bleeding. I never stopped getting my period like promised but I guess everyone is different. The pain went away and I never noticed that I gained weight. I got mine about 5 months before I had my sleeve done although the iud had nothing to do with wls. I have had no problems losing weight.

13 yr old getting sleeve. Need recommendations in Mexico
skinnygirl2b replied to slcmommy5's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I think a 13 year old can be adult enough to understand exactly what would happen if she eats something she's not supposed to. Just like the adults that know exactly what will happen. I was sleeved in NY. My bmi was high enough for insurance to pay. My partner was under the bmi requirement so we looked into the Mexico option. Dr. Fernando Garcia was fantastic. We didn't have one single complaint. The hotel, the hospital, the transportation- all were great. We are both nurses and didn't go into any of it lightly. Even my surgeon supported her and said there is absolutely nothing wrong with medical tourism. In all the research we did we never read a bad comment about Dr. Garcia. His website is Tijuana Bariatrics. Good luck with your decision. -

Family coming with me to Tijuana
skinnygirl2b replied to Torias mom's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just got back from Mexico. My partner had surgery with Dr. Garcia and we stayed at the marriott. The taxi ride to the walmart from Marriott was 4$ for the two of us. And we took a taxi back to the hotel no problems. After the whole surgery, hospital and hotel stay we had te driver take us back to San Diego airport. We had reserve a car and drive to Laguna Nigel. It was about 45 minutes to 1 hour from the airport and we stayed there for another 3 nights. We thought the extra days were good for her recovery before the 6 hour flight home to NY. It was the best decision ever! Gave her a chance to relax and we got to walk around and see a new state. We also took a whale watching tour and saw a migrating grey whale. they are having like the bigger whale watching season and see whales every day! The tour before us saw 4. Ok. I'm rambling but if you get the opportunity to sight see before going home I don't think you will regret it. Plus you are already there. Might as well take advantage. -
How to set up surgery for Dr. Fernando Garcia?
skinnygirl2b replied to mommy2six's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr. Fernando Garcia can be found at www.tijuanabariatrics.com - just got back from Mexico - my partner had surgery with him 2 weeks ago. Such a great experience. Alisha was the coordinator who set up surgery and Jasse was the coordinator in Mexico. Everything went exactly as they said it would. The only thing hat happened to us was it took the driver 2 hours to pick us up at the airport. HE said the border was closed due to an accident. Going into Mexico and the whole rest of the trip was great. -
Flying questions
skinnygirl2b replied to BrandNewBrandy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I don't know your financial situation but I did a lot of research and had a lot of time to look for deals. For just a few hundred extra I was able to book first class coming back from San Diego. I had my sleeve done in NY in march so I knew my partner would be more comfortable to be able to lie back and have more room to relax. It was so worth it. The direct flight was 6 hours long and she slept most of the way. not necessary on the way there as we were both feeling fine but I think it made a big difference for her coming home. -
Second guessing my decision for surgery in Mexico...
skinnygirl2b replied to Jen40's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just got back from Mexico with my partner. I had my surgery in NY. I had a bmi of 40 so insurance covered it. She only had bmi of 32 so we went to Mexico after we spoke to my bariatric surgeon about it. We are both nurses and even my surgeon supported medical tourism. He says they are just as qualified. We used Fernando Garcia. He is an accredited bariatric surgeon. he does about 10 sleeves a week which is more than my surgeon in NYC. We were in an actual hospital. She received blood work, x-Ray, EKG and check up from 3 doctors (2 worked with Dr. Garcia and one was an internal medicine doctor.) we also met the anesthesiologist prior to the surgery. Everything happened just as they said it would. The hospital was simple ( Florence hospital) but clean. The hotel (Marriott) was great. Everyone spoke English and answered all of our questions. she had her surgery exactly 2 weeks ago and went back to work today 12 pounds lighter. as far as the insurance coverage after you should call your insurance company and also ask your primary doctor if they can follow you after the procedure to monitor the surgical site and lab work. They will also know what they can do within insurance guidelines. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions. We were very happy wih our choice. -
Is anyone scheduled in January for Dr Illan ? would like buddies
skinnygirl2b replied to leslie1958's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes we are going to Mi doctor. Flying in on the 19th. My partners surgery is on the 20th with Dr. Garcia. We are staying in hospital 2 days then back to Marriott for 2 days and then we decided to stay outside of San Diego for another 3 nights before flying back to NY. This will give her a few more days recovery before she has to sit on a plane for 5-6 hours. When are you and your sister having surgery? I had my sleeve done in March 2013 in NYC. Very happy. Would do it all again even though its a really big adjustment. -

Canadian raindrop- I am going down on the 19th with my partner. I had my surgery in NY in march, 2013. She doesn't qualify through insurance so we booked with Dr. Garcia. Not sure if you will still be there when we get there. Her surgery is on the 20th.
