I understand exactly how you feel. I let myself get all the way up to 267 by far my heaviest. I have been with my bf for 5 years and we hardly have sex anymore. i feel disgusting and completley unsexy and he just doesnt get that. he says he still finds me attractive and i have to try to accept that and believe it.. things will get better just keep the big picture in mind. You are taking steps to becoming a healthier you if you ever want to talk pm me. and good luck on your journey

lol i remember when my mom used to make me wear shirts with the shoulder pads in them! and she would make me wear those stretch pants with the stirrups on the bottom. ugh not a good look for an overweight child. i used to go to school and cut the shoulder pads out. lmao

I originally had joined dailystrength a few years ago with this handle. My bf was in active addiction to alcohol/cocaine/ prescription pills and i made it b/c even though his family had given up on him, hope still lived within me that he would come through it. Today he is 20 months sober after 30 years of active addiciton. Now, hopeliveshere, signifies my new start, i have hope that i will overcome obesity.

some of my co workers just came in and offered me some chocolate mini bars..... i demanded they get out of my office. today is not such an easy day on this pre op. I am realllllly hungry today and dont know why. Im food hungry though not SNACK hungry. cant wait til day is over so i can have my shake..... surgery is 12 days away!

In honor of Halloween today and for fun i decided to post this irish legend of the jack o lantern Enjoy! According to Irish folklore a man nicknamed stingy jack was well known for his drunkeness and quick temper.The Devil came to collect Jack's soul at a pub on all Hallows Eve. Stingy Jack invited the Devil to have a drink with him. True to his name, Stingy Jack didn't want to pay for his drink, so he convinced the Devil to turn himself into a coin that Jack could use to buy their drinks. Once the Devil did so, Jack decided to keep the money and put it into his pocket next to a silver cross, which prevented the Devil from changing back into his original form. Jack eventually freed the Devil, under the condition that he would not bother Jack for one year and that, should Jack die, he would not claim his soul. The next year, Jack again tricked the Devil into climbing into a tree to pick a piece of fruit. While he was up in the tree, Jack carved a sign of the cross into the tree's bark so that the Devil could not come down until the Devil promised Jack not to bother him for ten more years. Soon after, Jack died. As the legend goes, God would not allow such an unsavory figure into heaven. The Devil, upset by the trick Jack had played on him and keeping his word not to claim his soul, would not allow Jack into hell. He sent Jack off into the dark night with only a burning coal to light his way. Jack put the coal into a carved-out turnip and has been roaming the Earth ever since. The Irish began to refer to this ghostly figure as "Jack of the Lantern," and then, simply "Jack O'Lantern." Happy Halloween Everyone!

i agree with the other posters. the bypass scared me as well b/c of the messing around with the other organs. I originally came into it thinking lap band but after research and this site decided sleeve was better. would hate to have gone with band and end up need a revision

i waited literally a month for my insurance approval to come through it was torture. even with working and taking care of my 2 little ones it was still constantly on my mind.... sorry i dont have better advice. its hard to think about anything else when you want something so bad. maybe just focus on the kids and practicing your post surgery habits. get all important papers together. I actually started filling out christmas cards jsut to get my mind off it. hang in there

schedule the final bloodwork and labs that need to be done? Im 13 days away and they havent called to schedule this yet. Im just so darn anxious that i cant concentrate on anything. i keep checking this darn site like every 15 mins.

lol i am waaay too anxious. the hospital actually just called to schedule my pre admissions testing for nov 4th. (though i did request a saturday...oh well) guess im all set now!

i went through the same thing i found out the surgery was approved on oct 4th and all they were waiting for was the official approval letter from the insurance company. they didnt call me to shchedule my surgery until 0ct 24. and now im still waiting for the last labs i have to do. hang in there. are you going to call back. which insurance do you have?

I hear you! im 13 days away and i freak out occasionally. its weird how the beginning seems to drag on and we complain and then wham! you turn around and its your surgery day. good luck to you and a speedy recovery

honestly i would say adjust the pre op diet to how you feel. if you feel full then go with that. i am supposed to be drinking 6 shakes a day and i can have broth, sf stuff, and certain veggies. i really cant afford to have 6 shakes a day unfortuantely so i get about 3 sometimes 4 and maybe eat a tomato or a can of spinach and im usually full. i managed to lose 9lbs and feel pretty good about that.

November 12th here in NY too! so excited! anyone know when do they do the final blood work etc? they havent called me to do it yet and i dont know what time im supposed to arrive at hospital yet. surgery will be at 9 am

probably depends on the insurance company and im sure you will get a range of answers. i had my 6th weigh in on sept 21 and saw my surgeon on sept 26 at which time my paperwork was submitted the surgery was approved but the coordinator didnt receive the approval later until nearly a month later. i was scheduled just this last thursday for 11.12.13 good luck

My date is 11/12/13 as well. I will be sleeved at new york hospital queens in flushing ny with dr castro! my pre op is 6 shakes a day, broth, certain veggies and inlimited sugar free beverages. i cant believe its almost here.

Maybe a strange question but i was just wondering if any post op people have any experience eating beef jerky? I am still pre-op but this happens to be one of my all time favorite snacks (plus i know its pretty high in protein). Any problems with it going down or chewing it? is this a good snack option?

11-12-13 is my date to be sleeved. (i like this date b/c i like that the numbers are consecutive, dont mind me i am a freak lol) I am super excited! they offered me a few different dates ranging from the 12th all the way thru to decemeber but i took the first date as i have been on the preop diet for a while now. i lost 9lbs already and am so proud of my self. I did Celebrate a little last night with something i wasnt supposed to have but it was one minor hiccup and not as bad as it sounds. i ate a can of black Beans with hot sauce and garlic. lol. back on track this morning though. I cant believe after 6 months of weigh ins and countless other appointments i am only 18 days away from a new and healthy me! The only song that keeps playing in my head is the riff to Europe's "The final countdown" (if you know it lol) Any one else have a date of nov 12th?

i like this one better but i am also on dailystrength.org they have groups for many things though. i frequented the obesity board there. i know they have a weight loss surgery board as well but i never posted on it.

Officially joining the November sleevers! just got my date yesterday and it will be 11-12-13! 9lbs lost on my preop so far!
