    What to bring?

i didnt bring much and was only there for a day. i had my phone and charger. i brought a book which i read like 10 pages of. i wore the same clothes home that i came to hospital in. i did bring my own robe b/c that makes me comfy. the hospital gave me all the toiletries i needed. CHAPSTICK is a must. i was sooo dry after surgery and all they give you until after your leak test is sponges to wet your mouth so dont forget this!

  6. Im 7 weeks out today and i maybe get 300 cals a day. Ill have half a protein shake for breakfast and maybe an egg for dinner. i had a disappointing 3lb weight loss at my 1month checkup and they told me to back up and stick with eggs, cheese, soup and shakes....my coordinator actually said the words "you dont need to eat"
  7. Happy New Year to all!

  8. yes it gets better! i had a horrible time with this. i constantly had to go to the bathroom like every two hours even in the middle of the night. if i tried to hold i would pee my pants a bit .... forget about laughing or sneezing lol. since surgery, i have to go alot less and i am able to hold it without leaking!

    COFFEE ANYONE?

7 weeks out today and im enjoying a cup right now! my first cup i kinda nursed for a while to make sure it went down good and it did. My limit is 2 cups a day. I tend to reach for it when i feel kinda hungry and it does the trick of filling me up.

    Epic fail?

Had my 1 month post op appt yesterday. I only lost 3 lbs. bringing me down to 226. The dr and coordinator were very disappointed. I cried on the exam table. They questioned me as to what ive been eating. i told them i am doing 1 meal a day and 1 sometimes 1 1/2 Protein shakes. I was advised to backtrack and stick with eggs, yogurt, cheese and Soup. They told me not to worry about hitting the protein goal but concentrate on getting fluids in. The dr said my metabolism may not have caught up yet. and they want to see me back the end of january to check my progress. im so frustrated idk what to do. I feel like such a failure. I've been stalled since the 2nd week. Ive lost 16lbs post op and 15 on the pre op. Ive read about stalls but really....come on...what the hell is going on here??? am i gonna be the one freakazoid that gives up 85% of their stomach and STILL cant lose weight? i suck...
  11. quick question ladies. at 31 years old i have always had normal periods since i was 14. i had my period nov 1 and then like clockowrk after my surgery (11-12-13) i had it again on dec 1st but on sat and yesterday ive noticed some spotting, nothing coming down just a little there when i wipe? i wouldnt be expecting it again til the week of jan 1st.... anyone experience this so early out from surgery? could it just be my hormones adjusting?

    Epic fail?

I totally agree with you GG. From the beginning I have refused to set weight loss goals. My goals have been to stick with my plan... 60+g of protein, 60+ou of Water, and 60 min of exercise. As long as I stick with the plan I have been successful. I do weigh daily, but I don't let it control my emotions or my life. I'm 6 pounds away from goal and loss has slowed down, but I feel great. I have halfheartedly participated in the Thanksgiving and Christmas challenges, but those have not been nearly as inspiring as the exercise challenges. OP have you calculated your BMR or TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)? Both will help you figure out how much u can lose in a day. btw, congrats on all your success!

    Epic fail?

I know, that's been me too.. It's the damn holidays! Water for me even after a year is a full time job... Ok I'm super busy today I'm about to go shopping (again) and I have a party at 2 let's make a promise to get our water in today! As far as patience? At some point I just told myself to chill out. I said give it a year. And if after trying at this for a year (really trying) if you still haven't lost a good amount by then, then you can freak out, obsess and become impatient DEAL! i promise to get my water in today. im almost done with a 20oz bottle so ill just refill while i finish up my shopping today! have a great day

    Epic fail?

thanks laura, i had no problem the first few weeks getting my water in but ever since last saturday i have been so busy that ive been struggling to get even half that amount in. def gonna have to work on this for a bit. i have been overweight my entire life and i guess im just getting impatient.

    Epic fail?

thanks so much. I have been working the exact program that they gave me in my handbook doing protein, whatever veggies were allowed, taking my Vitamins etc. i have not had even one crumb of junk food, and if i thought about junk i think of something i read that proudgrammy wrote when she said we still have to control what we put in our mouths. ive been controlling myself so much that people are so proud of me and say they dont know how i do it.
  17. 1month followup today . hoping my stall broke!

TMI... But I have to know

your talking to the queen of gas pain after surgery here lol. its ironic b/c i am not a gassy person regularly at all. i rarely burp or fart. i had them 2 weeks straight from the minute i woke up. morphine gave me 2 to 3 hrs of relief and i was given tylenol with codeine to go home with for pain. they were horrible and radiated up to my left shoulder and they brought me to tears quite a few times. No amount of walking of gas x strips took them away. and honestly i was kinda afraid to poop or fart for the first week and a half at least lol. although my experience was bad with them some people to have them at all. hope you are one of the lucky ones

    I'm starting the process

its not silly to have second thoughts. most of us if not all of us have these thoughts. i second guessed til i was up on the operating table. it was difficult as well thinking about my children being without a mother ( they are 5 and 2) You have to really sit and think have i done everything i possibly could to lose the wieght on my own and do the beneifts outweigh the risks? for me the answer was yes to both. ive been overweight my entore life and tried countless diets. my weight was just continuin to go up and i was getting to the point where walking was becoming painful. best decision i ever made so far even though im still early out i am feeling confident i can finally achieve my goal

  21. i noticed this a few days ago and im not sure what it is. From one of the incisions that is on the upper right side, theres something poking out....it looks and feels like a clear nylon string or a piece of plastic? . i havent called the doctor about it yet, i do have an appt next thurs for my 1 month follow up. it doesnt hurt or bother me. its just kind of annoying and i have an odd urge to pull it or clip it but im afraid i might screw something up. Any ideas what it could be or anyone ever have this?
