Hey all Caught up with my surgeon today and have been out on the pre-op diet tomorrow and surgery possibly in 3 weeks. Am really nervous but excited for the new chapter. Any feedback or ideas to help me through? Ps: am also new to this app :-)

How accurate do you think map my walk is? I'm only asking as the same time and exercise seems to have different calorie count on myfitnesspal? Cheers

Hi, welcome to the losers bench :-). 10kg in 3 weeks is very good. Everyone loses at different levels depending on starting weight, how much you have to lose to and your body. Go with the flow it say and and as long as you're getting your protein in, fluids and vitamins embrace it. It does slow down I time andyou may even plateau, which is normal. Hope this helps a tad bit :-)

Sometimes I forget I'm not that big...

Lol, have you noticed how your fingers and hands are also more defined? I spend a few minutes every day day dreaming..... Just staring at them., almost like flexing muscles......lol Then there's the hip bones....... -
While I know the focus should not be calories, I am just curious to know how much people out there are/were eating at 8 months? Cheers
-
Thanks, I increased to 1000 pd as per my nutritionist but feel that's a bit high? I don't want to go into starvation mode either! Agreed, the balance of calories and protein :-)

Hi, since surgery approximately 8 months ago, I've had a regular periods for 6 months, like clock work except it was 1 week late this month. It's quite strange actually as I was diagnosed with pcos and never really had a period. Now I'm dealing with all the "fun" bits that go hand in hand with regular periods. Small price to pay for hoping on falling pregnant ???? The general rule is that your hormones do change after surgery and weight loss. They also give you blood thinners (usually) while undergoing the procedure and that takes time to work through your system too. Hope you get sorted soon ????

Hi, I have been off the pill for approximately 9 years and do not use any birth control as such except hubby uses condoms, if you can call that birth control? I don't believe it should affect your weight loss if you go off but remember it will take time to get out your system. With the sleeve, and losing weight, your body will adjust and because of the high level if Proteins you probably will become more fertile. I recommend following your surgeons recommendations. Mine told me I should not fall pregnant for at least a year to get the best outcome from my sleeve... Hard but we are doing as told .... 8 months to go lol Best of luck !

I've never been regular pre-op as have pcos. 4 months post op and have had 2 monthly periods in a row. First one heavy and painful, second one felt normal. Quite happy (in some ways) ???? long may it continue to hopefully allow me to conceive next year.

I well done! That's awesome :-) I've heard there are support groups at the Manukau Super clinic? I am not from Auckland, but it may be worth finding out about if you're interested.

How are fellow NZ sleevers doing?

Anyone experience sensitive gums? I am 6 weeks post op and it appears my gums are becoming so sensitive. I am on multivitamins daily and drink milk and have yoghurt almost daily. Any ideas?
-
Confirmed as a vit c deficiency, thankfully! ????

Reading up on it a bit more tonight, it could be from a b12 deficiency. I haven't really been vomiting for about 2 weeks, do don't think it's that. I will contact my dr to discuss further :-)

How far post op are you? I am almost 3 weeks and have had itching and burning on my thighs. I was told by the nurse that its normal from the anaesthetic. Due for my post op check up in 2 weeks so will chat to my surgeon

Good luck Rollagirl! I am almost 3 weeks post op and doing great. I am finding eating a bit of trial and error at the moment but taking it slow. no cravings at all except felt for a coffee which I went cold turkey on and have had. Had to chat to the nutritionist before I did :-) Still in the puréed stage though. Started exercising properly yesterday, and have such motivation to succeed....I am certainly on a high with this new chapter of my life. Although a bit tired.... Baby steps Weigh in on Tuesday :-)

Well, there I was so excited to have scrambled egg for breakfast.....a teaspoon or 2 down and the excitement was lost! First time since my surgery on 23/4 that I felt like gagging!
-
Glad i am not alone! Yes, I am into the puréed stage. Strictly following my nutritionists recommendations. The first week was liquid, so am into my 2nd week now. Tried having yoghurt and milk earlier this week, that didn't sit well. Definately trial and error :-)

I meant to ask, what made you go to Mexico to get sleeved?

I am 1 week out today and its quite funny. i used to be the first one finished my meals now i am the last. It takes me 45 minutes to drink a cup of tea, around 30minutes to eat around 125ml of soup, around 30 minutes to drink 100ml of Protein shake too. A whole day drinking 750ml of liquid. I don't drink for 30 minutes before or after meals. There is certainly a fine line between pain and feeling full, but I am getting used to listening to my body.

I was sleeved 23/4, discharged 25/4. Went back to work for 3 hours today but as I do sedentary work, found that sitting for long periods was not too comfy. Drs recommend 2 weeks off ....but also depends on your type of job. I think how well you sleep the night before also contributes - I am used to sleeping on my sides and am battling so soon. May try go back for a few hours tomorrow :-)
