how do u know if ur band slipped?
Breezyrn70 replied to Sasha2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had a slip, but from what I understand, if your band has slipped you usually can't get down any food or even liquids. It sounds like you are just still having pain from healing. As always, any concerns-call your surgeon or bariatric support center. Good luck! -
I have really been struggling with my weight loss. Lost-gained-had a fill-gained some more-PBing-had an unfill-gained some more-had a slight fill and words(not pleasant) with my surgeon-now with strict high protein-low carb dieting, I'm losing again....but I'm hungry! I still don't have my band adjusted correctly. I now have 2cc's in a 4cc band. Gives me small restriction with 2 cups of food. I've had the band since July of 2007, and it still takes lots of work and willpower-even with proper fills.

Kat, Well said...as always. You are such a wonderful inspiration! I am so glad there are people like you on here to keep us level-headed and focused! Thank you! :clap2: -
Do you ever get FRUSTRATED that you can't eat like you used to???
Breezyrn70 replied to Sooverit!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the mental challenge you go through regarding food after banding is the most difficult part of all of it. I went to a movie today with my son and sat there and drank water while he ate popcorn. It is frustrating at times, but knowing that you are healthier (especially when stepping onto the scales) really outweighs the frustration. Obviously we all had some sort of love affair with food and had to fight our own demons when adjusting to the band, but it happens-it just happens. You change and you even feel proud when you make the correct food choices. -
Kind of Gross question But....

I wore a tampon with no underwear. Had no problems or post op infection. -

OK, was she even THAT overweight? I didn't think so. I'm confused. -
My surgeon gave me a 25 pound lifting restriction and I have an 8 month old that weighs about 20 pounds. I didn't lift her for the first week and then started to lift her for short intervals. It's tender to lift her-on the incisions-but I haven't caused any damage(and she's very wiggly!) I just make sure I place most of her weight on my arms, not my belly. Have fun at Disney!

Hi KarenG. You are experiencing the "fun" gas pain. Walking or lying down may help the pain. The pain when you breathe is also normal. Try to take deep breathes and cough if you can tolerate it. It helps if you use a pillow against your belly when you cough. All of this will go away, but it may take a few days. I know-I just went through it too. Good luck!

Pain following surgery
Breezyrn70 replied to Jeanniepenini's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MissMolly, I am doing 100% better and I'm just 2 weeks post-op. It took me an entire 2 weeks to feel better and now I believe I can actually make it back to work! Honestly, at first, I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life and I just wanted to reach inside of me and rip the band right out! But, now, I have healed quite a bit, got over my complications(mainly fever), have an appetite and lost a total of 23 pounds to date. I still feel a little pain at port site now and then, but I am able to sleep on either side and the pain is really minimal. Everything does improve, but everyones situation is different. I am beginning to really like my band-haven't gotten to the point of loving it, but I know that will soon come. Good luck to you and remember-you will heal and you are making a great decision! :bounce: -

Pain following surgery

This is so funny. I am a nurse-10 years.. I've seen lots of nurses on here. I wonder if we get this way because we typically are taking care of everybody else and not ourselves, and finally...here we are... Maybe, maybe not, but I'm happy to have fellow nurses in the brood to help others with some of the confusion/questions! :clap2: -

I had no idea there was a Lap band cook book! Thats awesome! I am doing much much better today. More aches than pains now. My DH had to go back to work today, so on my own with 4 kids-now the fun begins-lol. I also have a big bruise from my Lovenox injection prior to surgery. It's a pretty green color now. Fever is gone and I am breathing much better. Thanks all for your imput-it helps so much!
