    Waiting for approval!

I have Unicare and they took a little over 2 weeks to approve my surgery. Don't be afraid to call and check yourself. I kept calling and they finally sent a note to the case manager that my surgery was already scheduled, so I got an answer 2 days later! Good luck!
  2. I am on day 9 of my 2 week preop diet. It, of course, was very hard in the beginning....you go through the physical hunger, then the mental hunger, and now food is just not a priority-especially with the few choices I have. I have lost 12 pounds so far and surgery is July 24, so I hopefully will drop a few more. I hope I have the smallest liver in town! :whoo:
  3. Hi, I'm also day 2 of my pre-op diet. It's not been too hard so far, but I had the advantage of having an upset stomach the first day, so no hunger pains-lol. Unfortunately for me, I am this close to surgery and still do not have insurance approval. My surgeon and his bariatric team kinda did things backwards . Hopefully all goes well and I do not have to start over with the pre-op diet. But, on the bright side, weight lost is weight lost !

    How much longer?

Hi, my surgery is scheduled for July 24. I have already completed psych eval, nutrition consult, group meetings, but I have no idea where we are with the insurance. My consultant is doing all the insurance paperwork and kinda leaving me out of all that. I hope she knows what shes doing! I'm ready to get it done!
  5. I actually work at the hospital where I will be banded and even my peers are mostly negative about Lap-Band and the really sad part of it all is that they will be taking care of the banders post-op! They need education-education-education. Even the people who should be most supportive, are not always. I've been very open about banding for me. I just don't care about their opinions-they don't have to live in my body!

    Just Getting Started

I am really excited and positive about this! I already have had my first meeting with my coordinator and my appointments are set for psych eval and dietary consult and my group meetings! My tentative surgical date is July 25. Everything has happened so quickly! I don't even have time to be nervous or worried! I'm on my way! :biggrin1:
  7. Hi, I'm still in the very early stages with lap band surgery. I have been to my PCP and he has told me that I qualify for surgery, but the referral has not been made. I have read and researched so much and it's just made me more confused than ever! I know I want lap band above all other bariatric surgeries, but it seems like the type of lap band even makes a difference, which is something I won't have a say about. I worry that I will go through all of this and then not even have the best band for me placed! Once you make the first decision to actually go through with surgery, then you worry about all the "what ifs" :phanvan.
