Sudden Food Intolerance
anniehip replied to CSchulden's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I'm full my nose runs. That's my signal. When I go pass that I end up throwing up bc I'm so uncomfortable. I don't ever let that happen! It does get better. I'm one year out already. -
Try to throw up

OMG, I have the same thing. I called my dr. He told me that it's pulling on the internal sutures and the muscle. He told me it will get better with time and to take it easy, not to aggravate it. Suggested putting ice in that area too. I thought I was doing so well until last night when I sneezed and felt excruciating pain. It passed but holy mother of God it hurt so much....

Calling January Sleever????
anniehip replied to time for june's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on jan. 5, 2014. Got to the hospital at 6:00am for surgery prep. So far so good! Into OR, I was greeted by all. It was a delight to have everyone say that they would take good care of me. Then it was slumber time.... I woke up in the recovery room. Dr. Hahn was there and told me that along with the sleeve he had to perform a hiatal hernia repair and do a liver biopsy...Good job! In my private room. IV for pain and another for liquids were all hooked up. Meet with the nursing staff that would be checking my vitals etc.. For the next two days. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Although I kept pushing the IV for pain. A total of 5 incisions. The largest one (about 1 inch) on my right side. It hurt the most. I couldn't even feel the others. Dr. Hahn came to see me more than a few times. I kept asking him all the questions I could think of. He answered and explained them all. He was great!!! I did a lot of sleeping! Dr. Hahn and the hospital staff told me that I was doing very well. No vomiting or nausea. Drinking my fluids and meds. Saw Dr. Hahn one last time to make sure that I understood all the instructions and got all my prescriptions to take home for pain. I was ready to go home...I went home at 6:00 pm on jan. 6. I'm home now and in my own bed. More to come at later time.... -

I was told that the more weight I lose the easier it will be to recuperate and heal after surgery. I have been going to Jazzercise everyday since June and doing the 1200 calorie a day. I have decided on the sleeve because it is permanent....I don't ever want to hear someone call me obese. -

How did your surgery go? Any problems? -
My primary doctor referred me to Fremont. I went to the orientation. Then had my appt with the bariatric surgeon. He went over all my medical history etc. and approved me for the surgery. But, you have to lose 10% of your weight BEFORE the surgery. I met with the nutritionist who explained the 1200 a day diet + vitamins. Lastly, I met with my coordinator who basically explains what I have to do before a surgery date can even be given. You have to join a support group, call in your weight every month, and any medical tests that you require + Lose weight. Once i have completed ALL of the above and you have to be at the weight that the surgeon wrote down for you then your name will be put on a list for surgery. It's going to be July, August or Sept before I'm given a surgery date....Long process!!
-
I'm going through Kaiser. There are lots of things i must do before my surgeon puts me on the schedule to have sleeve done. 1. Attend orientation 2. Meet with surgeon to go over history and to get surgeon approval into the program. 3. Meet with nutritionist to go over the meal plans and how much you have to lose PRIOR to surgery. 4. Have all the tests done. 5. Quit smoking for 3 months 6. Join and attend support group/meetings. 7. When you have reached the surgery goal weight by 5 lbs, you have to meet with pysch dr. 8. Have someone at kaiser verify and record your weight 9. Put name on the waiting list for surgery. It's going to be a very long process. My surgery won't be until July or August (if I'm lucky). Did I miss anything??
