    Alone in Mexico

I was sleeved on 5/22. I went alone and felt completely safe and comfortable. Wish I would have had a buddy though...was bored and a bit home sick once I was out of the hospital. I made the best of it though. I walked to WalMart and the little shopping plaza, spent half the day at the casino, and hung out by the pool.

    How many incisions?

I was sleeved on 5/22 by Dr. Garcia. I only have 4 incisions, including the one that the drain was in. Dr. Luna commented that I was one of the lucky ones when he came to take my staples out at the hotel...whatever that means. I'm home and doing well. No worries.
  3. I am at Florence hospital now. The nurses are very nice. Most of them speak English. No issues with the IV or anything else. The hospital seems small, but fully equipped. Rooms are private with a futon bed of sorts for your guest. AC is vey cold!!! Rooms have flat screen tv; however you can only get one channel which is in Spanish. I was told that this is due to them switching to digital. Other than that, so far so good.
  4. Travelled to Tijuana alone. Being sleeved tomorrow. Bored senseless. Anyone else here?

Olivia23 said "Just so everyone knows when I went to my weight loss seminar here in NC, the doctor said that they were also a Center of Excellence and the way they keep that is by doing so many surgeries a month. He didn't say there were any other requirements to keep that title." Actually, there are additional criteria for becoming a Center of Excellence. - Hospitals must perform at least 125 bariatric surgeries per year. Surgicenters must perform at least 100 bariatric surgeries per year. - Bariatric surgeons at these Centers of Excellence must have performed at least 125 bariatric surgeries during their career and must continue to perform 50 surgeries per year. - Centers of Excellence must be staffed by a multidisciplinary bariatric team including surgeons, nurses and other consultants. - All centers must pass a rigorous onsite inspection. - All centers must report their long-term outcomes to the Bariatric Outcomes Longitudinal Database (BOLD). The information gathered in this database is used to analyze the safety and benefits of bariatric surgery. - All centers must be re-evaluated with an onsite inspection every three years.
