The annoying new habits that came to be with my sleeve...
chinamama replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My ass fits in all those places so much better also! The only problem I'm having with my ass is instead of having junk in my trunk, I now have a Shar-pai butt. It's all wrinkled and saggy, but it does fit in a size 16..... -
So just a little social experiment here.... So at my highest I was around 306, I'm now 203. So how much do you think I weigh in each picture. Left to right, top row and then bottom.
-
Sounds like you are in the 3 week stall. It to shall pass! I am a really slow loser, so twenty lbs sounds GREAT! I suggest making sure you chart your weight, mine goes up and down and all over the place. I know I lose slower partially because I was a band to sleeve conversion. I'm eating less, but not a lot less. It's frustrating, but I AM LOSING! Here is a shot of my last 3 mos. Good luck!
-
Actually I did want everyone to guess. The 3 were all taken the same week at 203. I noticed how much heavier I looked with the frumpy brown big shirt on so I was wanting to see if people guessed the same or different weights. I keep trying to stress to people to not wear their big clothes just because they can.

chinamama replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep it's what it is!!!! I stair step and I'm slow. Funny thing is the last 2 weeks I kinda blew it and what do you know my weight has started going down with no real help from me. Oh well. Surgery 4/29 HW 306 (before band) Pre-op revision 232 CW 202 I'm 5'5 So 30 lbs down in 5 mos, 104 from highest weight. I'm wearing a 16 bottom, and a medium top!! Feet have stayed the same. I want to be in onederland by the 12th it's our 34th anniversary. -
I ask the provider and then sometime call the 1-800 to double check. Can you tell I've been burned once or twice

BCBS Federal in Texas (Basic or Standard better?) Lap Band to Sleeve Revision
chinamama replied to band2RNY's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
If you have basic IT HAS TO BE IN NETWORK, or they pay $0!!!! -
Some have asked about out of pocket costs. I'm 2 mos out and I think everything is in. 3 nights in hospital, and surgery. Pre op testing, I think my out if pocket is right around $850. Seems lower than I thought it would be, hopefully nothing else pops up.

Sleeved 7/31 and i have only lost 18 pounds
chinamama replied to Esmeralda75's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think a lot of us revisionists lose slower than the rest because think about it are we eating huge plates of food? Thousands of calories a day? NO we are not. Even if you didn't have good restriction with your band you did have restriction. So in my case instead of 3/4-1 cup of food, I can eat 1/2 a cup. That is a 25-50% reduction, and don't get me wrong that's huge! But nothing compared to others that were eating 2 plates at a sitting! We ARE going to lose slower in most cases. Also some of the excitement is not there of the first time! -
Smooth Move Tea
chinamama replied to SJMusicalman103's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Used smooth move in the past with no issues. Something else I have found is that when I consistently have a Greek yogurt just before bed I stay regular also. -
BCBS Federal in Texas (Basic or Standard better?) Lap Band to Sleeve Revision
chinamama replied to band2RNY's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Sorry missed this. Yes, I got the sleeve. It will be 5 mos on the 29th. I'm a slow loser, (28lbs) but I think that is a couple of reasons. My body was already used to smaller portions, and also the excitement of your first time is not there. BUT I am losing. How do I describe the difference between the two.... With the band if it was tight I could sometimes use tricks to get the food down into the lower stomach, or slider foods I could just keep eating. Now when I'm full I'm just full. Even with sliders. A couple of months ago I had a piece of cake, with the band it would have just filtered thru and I would/could have eaten the whole piece. With I sleeve I ate 1/4 was stuffed and could not have fit anymore in for hours. Personally I had complications from the band, but after that no problems. Can eat and drink anything, dumped twice once was my fault. At my sisters and didn't realized they had switched to fresh organic whole raw milk. 4 Protein shakes later my body rebelled!!! Lol! Boy those Protein Shakes were good! The other time was a Frapachino at Disneyland, combined with a new medication and a little dehydration. Not a good combo. As you can see there is probably a reason why I lose slow, but I refuse to not live. I still track everything even when I indulge. Good luck! -
I'm in the 28-32 camp, different pictures mDe me guess different ages.

Still haven't received any other bills. Good luck!

I'm guessing acid, or you could be overeating, which for me caused extra acid. Call the surgeon let him know and see if you can take your ppi 2x a day or switch to a different one and see if that helps. I had to take protonix 2x a day for a couple of months, now it seems to have settled down.

BCBS Federal in Texas (Basic or Standard better?) Lap Band to Sleeve Revision
chinamama replied to band2RNY's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Personally I think basic is the way to go. Total out of pocket was under $1000. for all preop, and 3 nights in the hospital. They are a little more stringent I had to do 3 mos with the surgeon. Don't miss a month or you have to start over. Could of had the removal very easily it was the conversion that they made me jump hoops. -
Doc advising Gastric Bypasd vs sleeve... Anyone have that happen?
chinamama replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a super slow loser also, sleeved 4/29 and have lost about 27 lbs. but I am down 27 lbs! I lose about a pound or so a week. So at this rate it will take another year, but I'm ok with that. Of course I wish I had woken up thin, but oh well. I always knew I didn't eat a lot, and this proves it. I average between 8-1000 a day. FWIW I now someone that had bypass within the last 18 months, and I noticed the other day it seems like her weight is coming back. We will get there. Have you tried the plateau buster diet? -
My dr says its not the caffeine they are worried about, but the acid causing an ulcer in our stomach. She says coffee/tea is ok after the first couple on months. What I do to keep the chance of too much acid down, is to buy the low acid French roast at Trader Joes, and then cold brew it and store it in my refrigerator. Then I just measure some out and add hot water. I love it! The cold brewing also reduces the acid. I also put a little in my protein drink sometimes.

How bad was it? Would you do it again?
chinamama replied to extracat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll tell you what my Doctor sister told me when i was scared of the pain before my band. She said the pain is going to be a whole lot less than the pain of your first heart attack if you don't do something about your weight. For me that all brought it into perspective. I hurt, but that's what the pain meds are for. Tried to cut back on the second day, that was a mistake. Finally just took them for about a week, and then started cutting back. Remember though I had complications with my lapband removal, so I had more pain than most. Just don't be a hero and take the meds if you need them. -

Vision has declined since surgery. Anyone else?
chinamama replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did read something a few months back about wls causing declining eye sight. I think it was to do with lower calorie. Try googling it. -

Why am I not seeing any difference?
chinamama replied to Peggy D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also we stretch our clothes out, even though I was wearing a 24 at my largest, when I went to go buy new jeans the 26's wouldn't fit. I blamed it pm walmarts cheap clothes and lack of vanity sizing. Same now with my 18's every time I wash them they shrink, the difference is I don't re-stretch them out as much when I wear them. (Really need to replace them, but refuse to buy anything more until I can get into a 14!) With pictures.... Are you taking the pictures in the exact same place, and framed by a doorway or refrigerator? Even if you have to put a spot of tape on the floor to get the same perspective.
