keep having feelings of regrets
chinamama replied to toy27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well like some have said this surgery is not new, just new as a stand alone or weight loss surgery. My husbands grandmother had the surgery in 1960 at the age of 60! She had the surgery because she had stomach cancer. She was heavy when she died however because in those days they wanted you to eat to keep up your strength. So she opened a lunch counter where she served (and drank) goats milk milkshakes!! As for the surgery taking years off her life she died happy and pretty darn healthy at 93! -
How long before others could eat bread. I am 9 months after surgery and still can't eat any breads etc
chinamama replied to Di Fanti's topic in Food and Nutrition
Almost 7 weeks out. Went out to lunch today and had about 1/5 of a salad and a small piece of bread. There is nothing my sleeve dosent like so far. So far! ;-( -

Anyone else have to wait to drink anything after the barium test
chinamama replied to Paradise Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too. Nothing but the glycerin swabs. If they haven't given you some ask for them. -
My mom had a robotic hysterectomy and I talked to the surgeon about what made robotic better over laparoscopic (for that particular surgery. ) He said there is less trauma to the body and organs with robotic since the pivot point of the instruments are inside the body, and therefore can be manipulated to do more intricate moves. With lap the instruments are pretty much a straight piece and the dr has to use the weight of his body outside to move them so it's a much less precise way to do surgery, and can cause more trauma to the body. One of you surgical types on here chime in and let me know if this is true....

Incision Question
chinamama replied to DallasSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your friends have memory problems if they can't remember ;p lol It feels like your c-section where they cut thru the muscle because that's what they did, cut thru the muscle and pulled your bouncing baby stomach out. For me it HURT for weeks! And then I carried groceries in from trader joes and I think I pulled the healing muscle. I couldn't even bend over!!! Stopped hurting about 4 weeks out, and while that scar is still nasty looking, it's flattening out. Baby sis says to lightly rub in a circular motion to try and break up the scar tissue/adhesions on my scars. -

Any APRIL SLEEVERS? Let me know your progress !
chinamama replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
April 29th down 19.4 since 3 days before surgery (7 weeks today). Sooo I'm a normal to slow loser.... About 2 1/2 or so pounds a week overall. Little frustrated, I keep doing the lose, gain, platau, gain, lose dance. Oh well I know it, its just driving me crazy. -
I'm fine and not hungry until I start to eat, and then all bets are off. I don't know if I turn on my gastric juices or what.... Ahhh Always been this way to a certain extent, but it seems worse now. Help!

Who has actually reached goal?
chinamama replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep saying my goal is 10 lbs less than my younger sister!! My goal was always 150 but then I started reading the 60-70% stats and decided I better lower it to have more motivation, so I dropped my goal to 135. Haven't asked my surgeon what her goal for me is. -
Yah after gaining weight I was alway 110/70, always low back when I was a normal weight. It was low after surgery, why couldn't have been the blood sugar that was perfect after surgery.

How's your blood pressure. Mine after a hot bath a couple of weeks ago was like 76/45. Pcp said just be careful and try to take a cooler bath.

Dennisons puried with some melted cheese and a half a teaspoon of sour cream is yumm!

I was told that if you could to have your doctor approve you as step one of a two step process. That way if a year or two down the road you decide you want the second step the first will not count against you if your insurance institutes a one surgery per lifetime restriction. Fwiw

I'm stuck with my band until it erodes
chinamama replied to RAAinNH's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I really think that depends on WHEN you had your surgery. I had mine almost 6 years ago and I did a ton of research, but right around that time people were just starting to lose their bands. It was also around that time that the new and improved band was released that would deal with all the problems people were starting to have. -
Where is everyone from and sleeve date
chinamama replied to djnkidz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Central Oregon lapband revision to sleeve April 29th. My surgeon was Nguthey Hughes in Redmond, I LOVE that woman!!! -

Call lindstrom law offices, they were not as expensive as I thought they would be. They even advised me to do the peer to peer before hiring them. We did the peer to peer and was accepted so never had to hire them, but..... -
If that's her only reason just measure it out. I have been eating guacamole, measuring out 2 tbl and tracking. To me you can overeat ANYTHING you put your mind to. ( makes me wonder if the NUT overeats this particular food).

SLOW RECOVERY?
chinamama replied to bandtovsgdone52813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry if I scared you didn't mean to! :-( but know someone who had a blood clot go to her lungs, so I possibly over reacted. That said if you start feeling worse go to the ER. Glad you called!
