Eggs, eggwhites and beaters have you had enough eggs?
chinamama replied to freakinfitfoodie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used a whole egg, Salt pepper cheese I even thru in 1/2 a tsp of butter for flavor. I even diced a slice of bacon real small and put that in. (It was about 4 weeks when I could eat soft foods) -

Protein panic attack
chinamama replied to brittersmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like to blend mine also but add a while lot of ice! Also you can double up a little on your Protein if your worried about the amount you are getting. Add half a scoop of unflavored and it will boost your protein amounts. Try playing with the one you have. Add some extra Splenda, ice, maybe some vanilla flavoring, or some unsweetened coffee flavorings. If you have cash and carry or smart and final or whatever your local restaurant supply type store they have a whole isle of flavorings. Relax your palate will get used to it, you just have to keep trying ones until you find one you can halfway deal with. Good luck! -
My dr said to go ahead and swallow any pill about the size of a tic tac when I left the hospital. The big ones I cut in 1/4ths. About 2 weeks out started swallowing everything.

When did your toughest weight loss plateau occur?
chinamama replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
All the talking about our bodies happy weight got me thinking. I have always joked that every time I get into a size 16 my body freaks out and something happens to make me gain weight. Is it self sabotage, psychological, coincidence, or just dumb luck??? I would think self sabotage but I broke my leg in 3 places with surgery one time, band slipped with unfill another 2 times, and tubing fractured with surgery another. The difference this time is I have been in a 16 for almost 2 months instead of the one day or one week before.... I'm really going to have to examine this. And I'm also going to have to keep wearing the 16's instead of the 18's that I have more of. Soo what would a size 16 represent negatively psychologically? I am 9 lbs away from 100 lbs total lost over the years, and 4 lbs from my lowest lapband weight. (1 day, then back up). Sorry just rambling thoughts here, anyone feel free to give me some insights. To answer your question Alex, this right now is a hard plateau/stall/gain/fluctuation, whatever you want to call it. Started about week2 and continues thru week 8! Every time I think it's over and I'm dropping, it's right back up again. -
Weird... Are you basic? I couldn't find an eob for anesthesia, I seem to remember seeing it. Was the other surgery in 2012 or 13?
-
Yes mention it. Fast heartbeat can also be a leak, though it is usually combined with a fever.

Any APRIL SLEEVERS? Let me know your progress !
chinamama replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I only know it because I had a lap band. It was really disheartening to see the surgeon on tue and weigh more than a month ago..... -
Split pea soup? My nut let me have it thinned. It has naturally occurring protein, and you could add some extra unflavored protein powder to boost the protein content. I make a big batch in the crockpot and freeze some.

Peanut butter and avocado. HATED avacado Pre surgery, and peanut butter was reserved for apples when my blood sugar dipped. Now I would kill for peanut butter. In fact that is what is impacting my daily calories. When I go over its always peanut butter!
-
Your questions are why I'm worried not everything is in. When I was banded almost 6 years ago I got those extra charges. This time it pretty much seems like just the daily and surgery copays. I'll try and find my eob and let you know.

Any suggestions? Been out of town and driving for 5 days, and I am puffy! Of course had my 2 month follow-up Appt. yesterday morning and I was up, not down!! We talked about what I was eating, and she showed me the pitting from the edema. Overall she is pleased with my food log and appearance, but the scale was once again not my friend! Any suggestions for getting this Water weight gone?

2 different surgeons, 2 different options?
chinamama replied to socalfosh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also had my revision in one surgery, my surgeon prefers it in one. My stomach was adhered to my liver where it had prolapsed over the band, but the band slipped right off my stomach with little or no scar tissue there. In surgery 4 1/2 hours, and my recovery was probably a little slower because if the liver complication. -
Go for the free consult. I also talked to Kelly, and instead of signing me right up she advised me to wait and let the dr do the peer to peer, then if I was denied again re-contact her. Well I was approved!

Where did all this hunger come from?
chinamama replied to kdnhk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my goodness I am craving fat foods. Peanut butter, avocado (which i HATED Pre-op). I could suck down 500 cal of those foods in 10 minutes. -
Ok not a vet so forgive me in advance. But had a thought.... I was trying to help a client that was a cutter, and read a behavior modifier that may work here. Put a rubber band and around your wrist and when you find yourself thinking of food inappropriately snap the rubber band. Hopefully your brain will begin to associate that particular thought or food with pain. Fwiw

Yeah! After much stress, my sleeve surgery is a go...
chinamama replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did like him but hated the drive for aftercare, and, and complications. The drive was bad from Eugene, but to Bend no way. Dr Hughes was wonderful in taking on my fills when we moved here, and just continued my care when I had further complications and revision. -
Welcome to the club. It's just the way some of us lose. I know it, but it still drives me NUTS!! I'll try and attach a screen shot of my last month of tracking my weight.

It used to be ( at least with federal) that you could use any hospital you wanted to but they paid at a higher reimbursement rate at at hospital of excellence. So check your co-pays
