Happy birthday!!! Cupcakes? You could even do the little mini ones. I say everything in moderation. It's all about portion control. My moms bday was yesterday and I made a boxed cake mix since I knew I could take a bite and walk away vs a cake from scratch. I had a bite, logged it in myfitnesspal and didn't feel like I was missing out.

How much weight have you lost after revision to sleeve?
chinamama replied to SandrafromNJ's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am an extremely slow loser, but I am loosing. Down 20 pounds in 12 weeks. At least I'm not gaining. The way I look at it I had my initial 6 months 6 years ago. With my band I always ate about a cup per meal, vs now a half cup, so I'm going to lose, but it's going to be slow. Does that drive me bonkers! OF COURSE! but a year from now I should be there. I'm back to my lowest band weight of 211, 5 more lbs and I will FINALLY hit 100 lb lost! I love my sleeve !!! 2 slight boughts of nausea, but no vomiting and I can eat anything just 1/3-1/2 cup of it. Good luck! -
Went through this with my lapband six years ago. Double check, but Bariatrics are probably excluded, however your surgery is to correct your medical condition or co-morbidities not simply for weight loss. Does that make any sense? It's kind of like they will pay for a tummy tuck but only if it is impacting our daily living by becoming infected.

Don't treat it yourself.

Yes, and if you do treat it yourself or after your dr prescribes something document with photos. -
too many calories, struggling.....
chinamama posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sooo I keep reading how many of you only eat 600-800 cals per day, but seem to get in 80-100 gms of protein, HOW??? Today I have had part of a leftover salad with an extra 2oz of turkey, a pc of cheese for a snack, and I'm going to have a Premiere Protein shake. I am already at 457 calories... Are people counting net calories maybe, and subtracting exercise, or do I just not get it??? -
No problem, hubby has been with the feds for 22 years in October and I have figured out one or two things...

I know I LOVE shrimp, I just worry about the amount of mercury I'm ingesting! LOL No shrimp in the house this week, maybe that is my problem. That and I think I need to cut back my portions, but then I worry I will be under protein Amounts again.... -
Yes, on the bottom of an EOB (Explanation of benefits) that you get every time they pay something there is a box that says summary of Out-of-pocket expenses for 2013. It shows for your family how much has been spent on copays. Our family is at 3319. once that hits 5000. all copays are covered until December 31.
-
For Basic the MOST your family can pay out of pocket in a year is $5000. After that all medical bills are covered with NO copays, as long as you use preferred providers. So you have the surgery copay of 150.00 (don't quote me but I think that included the one night in the hospital) plus $150.00 for additional nights. My total for 3 nights in the hospital and all testing was under $1000.

I am 11 1/2 weeks out. I know a lot of the protein drinks are crazy with calories, that is why I have been adding in the Premiere drink, it is 30 gm protein, and 160 cal. But I hate the taste. Some days I feel like I should go on shakes until I lose the weight.... -
1 step forward & TEN back!
chinamama replied to NeverBeTheSameAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well remember you probably had a 3 week stall mixed in there somewhere. (remember even of the biggest loser there is always in week 2or 3 a time when some just don't lose or lose as much). You are doing great! In 51 days (including pre-op) you have lost an average of 3/4 of a pound a day!!! That is AWESOME!!! From your responses I see you need to really up you water, that makes a HUGE difference, and track your food/protein. -
So I went to the dermatologist today, and while I was there decided to ask about hair loss and if rogaine would help. He said yes, and to use the men's formula and put it on a tooth brush and rub it on the scalp. Fwiw He also said there is a laser that will help with the batwings, reducing them by 20-30%. He said to wait until I had lost more so it wouldn't have to be repeated.
-
Didn't ask, sorry! I figured I was a year or so away....
-
It will get better. I drink pretty darn fast these days, 11 weeks out.
-
Sorry to say that I still struggle with this, and I had a band for almost 6 years. The difference is if I overeat it's only a couple of bites vs a couple of servings.

When can you "try" steak?
chinamama replied to Disco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Diabetics who got sleeved....
chinamama replied to ccaramel27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been a type 2 for 20 years. Before surgery was taking glucovance and viktoza. Diabetes was getting out of control before surgery, but I do think that had to do with my band (stomach had prolapsed and was adhered to my liver). BS was higher during hospital stay, and they were giving me insulin. Since being home I'm only on viktoza and my morning numbers are running about 137, previously 180's. I have hit 200 a couple of times, but not consistently. 3 months labs will be next week. Sooo it appears my BS is better but not gone. And, i probably would have had the same results with bypass. Unfortunately that may be what it is since I have had diabetes for so long. -
Heck on day 2 I was still in the hospital (stayed 3 nights). I would start to change the tv channel and fall asleep as I was searching, woke up to quite a few interesting shows.

body dimorphic disorder
chinamama replied to Stef_L's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you take the pictures do it in the same place every time with something to frame your body.... In front of a door/doorway, refrigerator or whatever. Put a mark on the floor for yourself and your photographer, so you have the same perspective every time. That way you can actually see your body shrink. Good luck, and if it dosent start to get better you might seek out a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. -
Do you have basic?
