besides recover...
chinamama replied to karpouzian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can afford it you could always take a vacation..... Even if its a stay-cation and explore your town. That way you would be moving your body. We all wish for time to do things in life, but when we get the time we sometimes forget what we wanted to do. Have fun! -
Starbucks has Protein and Fiber powder available for an extra .50 charge, as many scoops as you want. One scoop has 30 calories and 10gm protein. If you want it hot make sure the person making it knows to mix it in with the cold milk before steaming the milk, otherwise you end up with nasty tasting lumps.

I just had a decaf latte with Splenda and protein powder.

How does this equate?
chinamama replied to tomato pie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you go from a woman's 20 to a misses 18? Can't remember if its the 18 or the 16 but there is actually 2 sizes there. For some reason it dosent translate to a single size. -
chocolate protein pudding
chinamama replied to makemyownluck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cut back on the milk. I think the pudding calls for 2 cups so I would do that or even 1 3/4c and see if they helps it firm up. I may try this tomorrow -
Between my band and the fact that my daughter is autistic so we have ordered gluten free, casein free for her for years. Here are some ideas. Baja Fresh you can get sides of grilled chicken, steak, and shrimp, Beans and so on. Mc Donald's I've gotten a McDouble with no bun. They serve it on a lettuce leaf, your meat and cheese. Have them add or subtract your condiments. Jimmy johns you can order any sandwich as a lettuce wrap. Taco Bell you can order virtually anything without the shell/tortilla my fav is an encherto with no corn tortilla. Beans, taco meat, enchilada sauce, and cheese. Yumm. Olive Garden Soup, side of spaghetti sauce, they also have a side of grilled chicken, Burger King has a new grilled Turkey burger and a new stuffed bacon cheeseburger. Just order the patty by itself. Quiche at a deli, lose the crust. Can't wait for two more weeks..... I'm hungry today. Im ready to advance to soft, but surgeon says no, oh well I'll manage.

So I had my revision on April 29, 4 1/2 hour surgery, my stomach had prolapsed and was adhered to my liver. Passed out in the hospital, couldn't get a BP for about 20 min, and ended up staying 3 nights. No pain since drain was removed ( the drain somehow slipped into my pelvic area causing A LOT of pain). Anyhow, I am just weak weak weak! Walk up the stairs sit for 20 min, have to sit to make jello. I can drink anything at least 4 oz at a time. Getting about 60 gm of protein. Prob 48 oz water/liquids. Still on full liquids. My BP is still low this morning it was 92/56. BS was 124. No fever, very little pain, largest incision does look a little angry. Down 14 lbs including pre-op. Do I sound normal? I'm just soooo weak! Thanks Laurie

Did my mani pedi the week before surgery. Can't justify another one dang it!! Maybe a mani. ( though hubby keeps taking the car so I can't ). -
What is the trap on either side of your neck you are mentioning? Lortab... I was told to dilute it with Water half and half to make sure I didn't dump. Did not take it with food. I learned the hard way to not keep taking it every 4 hours round the clock until I saw the surgeon. She pulled my drain on Monday and none since. Some of our pain can also be positioning pain. Sometimes they have to put us in weird positions so the dr can access where they need to access. In my case I was on the table for 4 1:2 hours, a long time to be in one position. Hope you feel better soon Laurie

Ideas for what to tell people?
chinamama replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well some of will probably be way to young to remember but a few years back 2 public people had WLS. Al Roker and Star Jones. From the outset Al said I have a problem and this is how I'm going to fix it. He was up front and honest and I know he taught ME being healthy was more important than what others thought. On the other end we had Star Jones, who said she was dieting and exercising. No one believed her because you just don't drop weight this fast with diet and exercise alone. Finally it came out she had lied, and from what I have seen her career has been in a downward spiral ever since. Why would we trust her after that???? Personally I have always been upfront and honest about my lapband. There is only one person in my life who has made me consider withholding info this time, and that is my SIL. She did not like the fact that she was the fattest family member instead of me. If those of you out there still don't want to say you had WLS, they are beginning to do metabolic surgery for those with metabolic diseases such as diabetes and pcos. Do some research. Laurie -

Talked to the surgeon a couple if hours ago. (I love her!) she said to up my protein and calories. 90-100 gm of protein and 800-1000 cal. I know a lot of you say that's to high, but I also know I will never be able to start exercising if I don't have enough energy to stand up long enough to make a bowl of jello. I had a half a cup of blended and strained bean with bacon soup and a little extra protein added, and had enough energy an hour later to load the dishwasher. Thanks! -
Question for BCBS FEP Band-Sleeve Folks Since 2011
chinamama replied to SleevedSteph's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A peer to peer is when you have a denial. The surgeons office and the medical director at the insurance company have a conversation about your case. The denial can be overturned or upheld. In my case they wanted 3 months medically supervised weight loss. Dr just documented we had met and had discussed the surgery and diet aspects and weighed me. I orig. gained and then lost 3-4 lbs last visit. -

So I heard something on the news yesterday that the dr actually did the surgery at Christie's home?!?!? Did anyone else hear them say that? Or do I still have anesthesia in my body?

Non-stop nausea on post-op 3rd day
chinamama replied to MxJumpinFrijol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry hit send by mistake. Anyhow if you are back in the states I would call your pcp and ask for a scopolamine patch ( my preferred anti nausea) or else some dissolvable zofram (works faster). I'm sure that they would call it in for you. Good luck! Sorry you are experiencing this Laurie -

Slightly controversial drink (wine, spirit, beer) poll
chinamama replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The very BEST moscato is at costco. 8.99 a bottle. I have started many people drinking with a bottle of that one. It is a little fizzy. As a rule I don't drink, I've always been a lightweight, maybe a couple of times a year, but I love this stuff so much I could get into real trouble. In fact I don't open a bottle unless there is someone here to drink it with me. I'm still mad at myself, I meant to open a bottle the week before surgery. -

3 days post op and the pain is still severe
chinamama replied to Whodatcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same with me a LOT of drain pain that left after she pulled it. Is there a reason you are concerned about becoming addicted? -
Though if you buy it at Costco and don't like it you can always take it back.

Question for BCBS FEP Band-Sleeve Folks Since 2011
chinamama replied to SleevedSteph's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I converted on the 29th. We have fepblue basic. Yes they made me jump thru all the hoops, 1 psy visit, 3 nut, 3 visits w surgeon for supervised medical wt loss, referral from pcp, sleep dr. I had a denial and a peer to peer. Something was messed up with nut visit finally approved 2 weeks ago today. I could have had it removed at anytime it was the sleeve that was the holdup. -
No fashion sense...where do I get some?
chinamama replied to Afrodite82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also don't forget to ask for help from the sales clerks. There is usually a reason they have a job there. They like fashion. Some of the higher end stores like Nordstrom have personal shoppers. There didn't use to be a charge just call and make an appt and they will help. -
Thanks for posting, sounds delish!! I'll have to make it for the family since I just started full liquids yesterday.

Thanks for the response. Well went to the dr for my followup and she suggested adding an additional scoop of Protein to my ready to drink. So I have doubled the amt of protein without having to increase volume. She said even though I am not having any trouble drinking she is still concerned with stressing the revision with all the complications.
