Over indulged yesterday, acid-y tummy today
dansgem posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, This is sort of a confession wrapped up with a question. I am visiting a friend who I haven't seen in ages. I fully admit to having over indulged in the wine last night. I did drink lots of Water. However, my stomach is acidiy. I fully intend to treat it gently the rest of the weekend, and not tip my glass. I took my Prevacid and some Maloxx. Has anyone done this, and what tips do you have for a post indulgent tummy? I am just 12 weeks post op, and my dr did clear wine for me. -

I had surgery April 24. I asked the nutritionist, and she said strawberries have wax coated seeds, and are ok for me. I ate four today.

I know that building muscle helps burn fat faster. My question is, how many days, how many minutes is optimal? That has always confused me. Thanks.

WhT do you do to be 'rebelellious'?

Sometimes, I don't measure my food. I just throw it in a bowl and let the chips fall where they may. And if I'm feeling really frisky, I'll only chew 22 times, and not the prescribed 25. -
What won't you compromise on food wise?

I will not use artificial butter items, such as the I can't believe it's not Butter stuff. I'm Leary of all the chemicals. I've found a Greek yogurt/butter substitute I'll use. I also won't eat fat free or 1% cottage cheese. I'll eat the 2% stuff. I'll use low fat cream cheese and sour cream, and low fat cheeses. The fat free stuff just tastes gritty or tasteless. I realize this may slow down my weight loss a tad, but I want to enjoy my food still. What foods substitutes are you just not willing to use? -
Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?

I had surgery ay Buffalo General with Dr. Posner. I simply can't believe how good I feel these days. I do need to call and see about adding some more variety to my food items though. -

Elma here. Sleeved on April 24 and replying to on whilst on the elliptical. I feel great and have no regrets. -
Oh my gosh! The exact same thing is happening to me. I was just at the dentist today, and told them, but I didn't even think to ask if there was a correlation. My gums feel swollen, and tender. I hope someone can help here.

How long does food stay in our sleeve?
dansgem posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious, how long will food stay in our sleeve before it makes its journey through the rest of our digestive system? And how soon after consumption will we know if something disagrees with us? I'm a month out, and so far haven't had anything (that I know of) disagree with me. Thanks! -
Any APRIL SLEEVERS? Let me know your progress !
dansgem replied to beachblondeee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on April 24. I'm a sllllowwww loser, but o date have lost 10 pounds. I'll take it, since in the past it would take me two or more months to lose that. Slow and steady wins the race. -
After my post surgical appointment, my doctors office gave me some business sizes cards that state that I've had bariatric surgery. I'm to put a couple in my purse and car. They are to alert emergency medical workers not to insert an NG tube without first contacting my surgeons office. On the back is a request to restaurants to allow me to order from children's menu. Did anyone else get these types of cards? Do restaurants honor them? Thanks...

Can't yet have bread, but...
dansgem replied to dansgem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't NEED the bread crumbs, but it does enhance the flavor. Oatmeal in meatballs provides a gummy texture, and with the eggs and hamburger meat, that's plenty of protein. And I'm not deep frying the chicken or breaded pork chops, I'm baking them. I'm simply not a fan of plain baked chicken or pork chops. -
What about item made with bread crumbs? I'm thinking meatballs, or breaded chicken breasts. I know bread take up room, and it's too soon for me anyway, but I was just curious. Thanks all.

Why do we develop food intolerances after surgery?
dansgem posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read a few posts of people developing food intolerances after surgery. I found a slight intolerance to milk, but nothing outrageous. What's the reason for this? Thanks -
Hello All, I'm three weeks out of surgery on Wednesday. I am for the most part pain free, with the exception of a nagging ache around my belly button. The area of discomfort is about the size of my hand. I'm off the pain medications for the most part. I went back to work today, and did some gardening with my niece over the weekend, so I might take some medication tonight. I'm a little more sore today than I have been lately. I'm just curious as to where others are on the pain scale. Thanks!
