I was def nervous as well. I never had surgery before this, but i knew the benefits outweighed the risks. I had HTN, pre-diabetic, and also PCOS, I can now say..no more blood pressure medications, blood work is back to normal, and my body is finally returning to normal. Even as I sat in pre-op that morning i kept thinking I should just leave, but i'm so glad i didn't. This has def been the best decision i have ever made, and Dr.Munoz did an excellent job. I love his nurse practitioner. I actually went to the support group for the first time last night and it was great. Anymore questions just let me know. Def wish you lots of luck!! -

When i first woke up after surgery and i was in recovery i remember the first thing i said was it hurts...i almost forgot what just happened...but once i got the pain meds i felt much better. Once i was on the floor..it wasn't really pain that i felt it was more discomfort then anything. I had my surgery on Tuesday and i was back at work the following Wed but I also have an office job. What do you do for work? And i was dreading the 2 week shake diet. I will say the first 3 days were the hardest but then i got used to them and it was a breeze and i was not even drinking the 5 they say you should drink. Drinking lots of Water through out the day also helps. -

I was pretty nervous about the 2 week liquid diet also...but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be..The first 3 days were the hardest..and then it became much easier...the time will just fly by..and by the end i was only drinking 4 shakes instead of the 5...you will do great! If i can do it...anyone can!! -

I had the gallbladder us to check for stones, because if there were any he would just take my gallbladder out at the same time but luckily there wasn't any. The upper GI was just to make sure I didn't have any abnormalities in my anatomy.

Thank you very much!! I'm down almost 20lbs so far actually so the weight is kinda just falling off of me...I kinda did cheat today though and had a single piece of pineapple...I don't think that is too bad...but yea....6 more days...I can't wait to be able to eat something real again..the reason why it is so hard for me right now is because i have my "monthly visitor"...def the worst time to get it...i get moments of hunger..i was fine up until this happened...hope it's over soon! I did want to ask, did you have a catheter? And did you have anyone stay with you?
-
My charges didn't cover my pre-op testing, but my insurance did with the diagnoses codes that they used. I had to get ton's of blood work, Gallbladder ultrasound, and an upper-GI(x-rays). Good Luck!!
-
Yea i'm def starting to get nervous..have all these different thoughts running through my head..def makes it difficult to sleep, and just worried about losing the 7% they want me to lose before hand. How did you do with the pre-op diet?
-
Thank you so much for your post earlier today! Def gave me a piece of mind. I also tried calling the office to be scheduled first and they said that they already have the schedule and i'm at 10am for now.
-
Well that def sounds better then my pre-op diet!! Oy! My post-op diet will be 3 days clear, 3 days full, 1 week purred, and 2 weeks soft i think? I'm going off memory right now. What stage are you in right now? Sorry for all the questions lol.
-
Yes I have facebook. What did you have to do for your pre-op? I have to drink optifast shakes, 5 a day, and then i can have water, sugar free jello, and crystal light if i want. This has to be one of the hardest things ever!!! But 1 week down, 1 to go!
-
How long was your hospital stay? I'm getting nervous, i'm a week away.... also how long did you have to do the pre-op diet for?
-
I'm in Boynton Beach. I mean the actual surgeon's fee's for me were 5.550, and the hospital charges 11K. But i get a private room and the whole wing is for post-op bariatric patient's. Did you end up going to a seminar tonight?
