missyjoy2078 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
For 8 years I have dreaded my company's black tie holiday party. It's a fashion company so - everyone is a stick. The first two photos are of holiday party past. The last is this years dress. -73. Happy happy that dress is a medium! -

Honestly it's from rent the runway. Great great option if you need a fancy dress but don't want to spend money on something that won't fit in 3 months. I'm using it for NYE too -
Did You Find Yourself Emotional Before Surgery?
missyjoy2078 replied to tigermom12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 months out and am still emotional! I can't say this enough to pre op people. 1- no one can prepare you for how hard the first 6 weeks is. It's such a learning process 2- after 6 weeks this lifestyle change becomes second nature. Today I was I going through old pics on my phone and saw one of myself 2 weeks before surgery and cried. I cried because of how fat I was and how quickly the last 5 months went. All of a sudden I am not fat. I've put in the work but I guess it's just hard to see on yourself. And I feel healthy and fit. It is an amazing feeling. I made a YouTube blog documenting the last 5 months and I still go back and look at those pre op and first few days videos. My channel is Newlifemelissa if you want to see. I wish you the very best on this transformation! -
The first size feels like forever. In the beginning I tried to prolong as much as possible but once you are out of plus size and can start really shopping - it's downhill. There is a clothing swap forum on here that might be good. Since my stuff is almost like new I've been selling some of the barley worn things on eBay and using that money to buy new things. Also - old navy is your friend. Cheap and easy

I Wont Be The Fattest Person At My Holiday Party!
missyjoy2078 replied to missyjoy2078's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Is it weird that I totally understand? I'm running into people I haven't seen on PURPOSE. Anywhere I possibly can. My reasoning was when I went home - no (from high school) would say - oh she is successful or not divorced or doesn't have 3 baby daddy or even - wow she got the hell out of here and moved to NYC. No matter how successful I was I would be the girl who got fat. Now I'm the girl who moved away and did something. Because I'm not the girl who got fat anymore. We should all enjoy the praise because this is hard work! We deserve it! -

7/8/13 HW: 255 SW: 241 CW: 182 Lost 59 since surgery. It's almost time for my holiday party at work and for the last 8 years I have dreaded finding a dress and feeling like the fattest person there (I work in fashion so everyone is TINY). I found some pics from my HW SW and now in my holiday party dresses. I'm thrilled now and can't wait for this party! -

Sorry ladies I've been off for a while. I had them saved for someone but they never sent me info to pay for shipping so I donated them. Size 16 and 14 coming soon! I do have an eBay listing for some other size 18 dresses. They were expensive so I don't want to give them away or donate. Listing under my username Stagegi667 -

Anyone regret WLS and why?
missyjoy2078 replied to Scorpion11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, the first 6 weeks (especially the first 7 days) were a lot tougher then I ever thought. I think because going into it I just kept seeing all the posts about how in live with their sleeve they were. The healing process is a struggle because all of a sudden you can't eat like a normal person and it's frustrating. Because if you are someone who turns to food for comfort that's taken away in a second. You are dying to chew something and god help anyone who eats solid food in front of you! BUT it's all temporary. Everyday you feel better and better. The weight starts coming off and your food options expand. I'm about 4 months out and have lost almost 50 since surgery. I can say now that life after te first 6 weeks is a lot easier then I thought it would be. Making healthy choices is easier because you see the results and you want to continue that. Plus looking in the mirror and liking what you see - you can't even put into words how good that feels. The surgery is worth it. You are worth it. -
Did surgery clear your sleep apnea?
missyjoy2078 replied to Startfresh359's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was never diagnosed with it but for years as I got fatter my sleep was getting worse and worse. I woke up a lot in the middle of the night and was on sleeping medications. About 3 weeks after all those issues were gone! I always sleep through the night now. -

missyjoy2078 replied to Lookingtobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a really really hard time in the beginning. My first 6 weeks post op. I wasn't one of those people who were so in love with their sleeve from day 1. I never once regretted my decision I just wanted to get past that phase. I'm two months out (almost 11 weeks) and down 40 lbs! This new way of eating has become normal to me. All of a sudden stairs are easier, I can walk longer distances, I don't shop at lane Bryant and I'm 2 lbs away from being under 200. I could have never done this on my own. Never. Do I miss eating a ton? Yup. But that goes away when I look in the mirror and smile because I like myself. I haven't likes myself in 20 years. I have a YouTube channel and I just did a video about this Newlifemelissa Good luck to you! It's worth it. YOU are worth it -
