Going into week 3 and intergestion
Afrodite82 replied to kooks3003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Indigestion seems to be a very common side effect of weight loss surgery. I'm not speaking from experience as I have not had my sleeve yet, but I see this topic come up again and again as I comb through all of these posts (sleep deprivation? Me? Pffft! Well...okay maybe Anyway, were you not prescribed some sort of antacid or anti-reflux meds? If no, perhaps you might wanna get yourself to a drugstore for some over-the-counter relief until you can request something from your doc. -
Let me introduce myself
Afrodite82 replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome! -
Hmm. Well, with all due respect, none of us are here on this site because we aren't (or weren't) "big girls". Was it indelicate of him to use the term to describe you? Sure. But is it truthful? People typically use the first or most distinguishing physical characteristic to describe a person to someone else, ie. I'm often "the black chick" or "the black Rebecca"; other people are "the blonde guy", "that nerdy girl", "the bald guy". Is any of that PC? Nope, but, it happens. The thing I note here is that they both agreed that you are attractive. Even more so now that you are slimming down. Further, like you pointed out yourself, he pursued you. Something to ponder. Now, however, I fully agree with the person who posted above that he ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer if he sent you a video wherein he was insulting you (inadvertently or not). So if you aren't feeling him anyway, then just take it in stride and keep in mind that Marilyn Monroe quote "if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best!" Take care.

Thank goodness your worth as wife and mother does not actually hinge solely upon your cooking skill or lack thereof.

Aw, yay. I'm looking forward to the day that I can do the same.

Did your husband support your decision?
Afrodite82 replied to musiclover's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is two weeks away, but so far my hubby has been incredibly understanding. It helps that he is fit and muscular, so the idea that I might be joining him in fitness probably appeals greatly. But he has said to me, more than once, that he hopes I don't change, and that I don't leave him, and not to focus so much on my appearance because it is what's inside that matters. He tries to say these things lightly, but I know they indicate his vulnerability. And in a lot of cases it is true that wls changes a person; perhaps they become more confident, more self-assured, more outspoken and less likely to "sit there and take it". When you start investing in yourself, doing something just for you, other folks in your life might feel that you are being selfish. I say try to reassure him as much as you can, but stress how important this is to you, and how much you need HIM. His love. His support. His understanding. His patience. Try to make your husband your partner and ally, instead of an outsider helplessly watching you change. Now, if that doesn't work, and he is just determined to be bitter and unhappy, then I say let him be! Staying fat just to appease him is not any way to live your life. -

Hah! Mine too. He talks to me and it all sounds like Charlie Brown "womp-womp-womp-womp". And I'm just like "unh-huh, dear. OH! Look at this woman's transformation!" -
Wow!! That's quite a story. Thank goodness you have taken the steps to save your own life, for your own sake, and that of your family. I wish you well on your journey to health.

SLEEVED at Florence Hospital with Dr. Garcia!
Afrodite82 replied to cindysc's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Oh it wasn't you I was questioning, Cindy. Another poster, Amazon13, seemed to indicate above that you had done something that was frowned upon or unsafe, and I was just inquiring about what the issue was with having a popsicle. Goodness knows I hope I don't have to count popsicles out of the tiny list of things we get to eat -

Afrodite82 replied to cindysc's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Wait is something wrong with that? To my understanding the popsicles count as juice/clear liquid, and are a-okay for immediate post op. I mean, they give you ice chips right away, so the cold can't be an issue. -

Florance vs Mi hospital
Afrodite82 replied to rollargirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Interesting, I didn't know we had an option, wasn't offered one, I was just booked at Florence. And believe it or not, I was kinda disappointed because I had read so much more about Mi Doctor. But now I guess I'm in the better spot after all. Cool! -
My birthday and I'm on Puree!

Ugh! I know exactly what you mean, I very specifically decided to do my surgery this month, six months before my birthday and seven and eight months from the holidays. I sure hope you find something that tastes pretty decent as a way to treat yourself. Happy birthday! And know that you have already given yourself the best gift ever! -

Dr Garcia SPIDER TECHNIQUE
Afrodite82 replied to rollargirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi Imdeborah, according to the coordinator and to all the research I've done thus far the Spider technique is done through or right above the navel with a single incision, so in this case, single and hidden are synonymous. Even if, as I suspect in my own case, there is stretching, scarring and darkening of my navel I still find that to be highly preferable to the alternative. But I have asked for pictures of procedures that he has performed in order to see for myself what the incision looks like. Thanks for your concern.
