2 mos post op and was wondering?
LonghornNiner replied to LonghornNiner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it even possible to stretch your stomach after 2 months? -
I am 8 weeks out myself and I felt the same way the first few weeks. I even came to this site and asked if anyone else felt regret like I did. Hang in there. Things will get much better. I still have a hard time getting my protein in but I find that protein shots help with that. Good luck

I wake up every morning at 3am for work and was wondering if I can take all my vitamins at once in the morning. Someone told me that it's best to split your vitamins and supplements up throughout the day but my work schedule doesn't allow me to stop and take my vitamins throughout the day. I would rather just take them all at one shot. I take a liquid multi, liquid iron, zinc chewable and b12 drops. Thanks in advance

Taking all vitamins at once?
LonghornNiner replied to LonghornNiner's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
yea I take calcium creamy bites but they are 500 mg each so I take them at 8 hour intervals since we can't take more than 500 mg at a time and my doc told me I needed 1500 a day. -
I'm 7 weeks post-op and wondering if donating plasma is safe. On the website of the place I want to donate they state that bypass patients must wait 12 months but nothing is said about sleeve patients. Of course the place won't discuss matters over the phone so I was wondering if anyone on here knew. Thanks

Do you plan on going vegan just for food or do you plan on living vegan in all aspects? Lentils are a good source of protein and so is soy. I love me some soy burgers!!

I have been researching websites all day trying to figure out what would be the best food route to take come week 6 and a lot of these websites contradict one another. One site says you can eat oranges while another states that you MUST stay away. So I come to you my fellow VST.com sleevers for a bit of advice by letting me in on your week 6 secrets I would really love to know what some of you ate 6 weeks out. Thanks in advance

it kinda does matter to me. my taste happens to be the larger ladies and uh it just sucks that I am kinda shunned away. thank you and yes the weight loss is very awesome and I have thinned quite a bit but my mind is still that bigger guy who has just a little bit of trouble with the ladies. shyness is an understatement lol -

I like blunt and yes I have to agree with you. It does seem to make sense now why all my co workers stare at the larger ladies. Thanks for your answer -

Medical Marijuana Use Pre-Op?
LonghornNiner replied to vsgwoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been using medical marijuana for years and this surgery sure as hell wasn't going to keep me from treating my chronic pain. I used the morning of my surgery and it was quite hilarious when the surgeon told me he could smell it when they filled with me up with air for the surgery. My surgeons only concern for smoking marijuana was it's interference with the healing process. Of course I didn't smoke the first week after surgery because it was almost impossible to keep from coughing. I actually had a friend use a vaporizer and blow it in my face. I refuse to use pain meds. They are dangerous and they are the real drugs. I didn't ask for pain meds at all while in the hospital cause I don't trust them. Wish I had a joint for that first night after surgery. Bottom line, do what your surgeon thinks. And I think eating gummy bears is far worse than smoking a little bud. @ Recycled .. when did marijuana become a drug? who classified weed as a drug? let me guess .. the same people who classify ketchup as a vegetable LMAO! give me a break! weed is and always will be a plant .. nothing more .. nothing less! Now Tylenol is a drug and Tylenol will kill you. -
I'm an 80s guy myself so I have different genres from the 80s .. Milli Vanilli, Wham, Journey, Scorpions, Thompson Twins, Tears for Fears, Micheal Jackson and Debbie Gibson just to name a few and I am also a huge fan of world music so Yanni and Karl Jenkins are also on my list I saw Yanni in concert and he's amazing by the way

Does anyone who has ever gotten this surgery have or had any regrets after getting it done. I am starting to feel like maybe this wasn't the right thing to do. I have lost weight which is an exciting thing cause losing weight was always a struggle for me but the way I feel is something I wasn't expecting. I feel sick all the time. I have no energy. I have no hunger or thirst whatsoever! I can't even drink a cup of water without feeling like crap. I am getting less than 500 calories a day and I am getting less than 50 grams of protein but what else can I do if I am not thirsty or hungry. Do I have to get protein injections?? I am taking all my multivitamins on time everyday but I still feel like crap. I am not the same person I was before surgery. It's starting to show at work. I use to have all kinds of energy and now I can't go 4 hours without feeling so exhausted. I know this is gonna sound bad but I wish I was hungry and not just regular hungry but MAD HUNGRY cause being diabetic and not eating is starting to take its toll on me. What to do? Any advice would be much appreciated thanks

Do you regret?
LonghornNiner replied to LonghornNiner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 weeks post op and I have kept myself on pureed food cause I am a little hesitant about eating anything else. I am afraid to eat and drink. Is this normal? I am taking all my meds and vitamins but food and water is scaring the hell out of me. Someone told me to drink Gatorade or something besides water but water isn't the issue. It's the want that I don't have. If that makes any sense -
Aetna Chioce POS II
LonghornNiner replied to ItsFinallyMyTime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your doctor will give you a list of what you need to do and Aetna should send you one as well .. good luck -
Well I can honestly say I've never had a food addiction or emotional eating issue. But I did have a huge problem that led to weight gain. There was a time when my diabetes was seriously out of control and anyone who is diabetic can tell you that one of the symptoms of uncontrolled diabetes is thirst. Well from the time I would get off work till late night I would drink anything with sugar cause I was so damn thirsty. Root Beer was my best friend and I miss him so much but it's been over a year since I've tasted anything carbonated. Anyway after pretty much starving myself all day about 2 hours before bed, I'd smoke a phatty and then eat a huge dinner. Dinner pretty much consisted of whatever was the quickest. Weekends were different in that sometimes I would eat healthier meals. That's pretty much what my routine was like for about 15 years. Now that I've had surgery I've had to trick myself into eating 5 small portions a day and it's been rough. Yea I've missed some meals mainly because I'm not hungry but I'm sure I will get the hang of this new lifestyle. Thanks for the thread

4 weeks out...going back to work
LonghornNiner replied to MK1986's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 4 weeks out and I've been going to work since 3rd week and applesauce and SF pudding has helped me through it. Good luck -
Well I have had a kidney infection since the surgery but my doctor and surgeon both told me that it probably has nothing to do with the surgery itself. Another member on this site told me it might have something to do with the amount of protein I consume but other than that I have been fine. I've lost 25 pounds in the last 3 weeks so I am excited about that. The biggest hurdle for me was not being allowed to drink liquids like I use to. I love to drink water at work but I cannot drink water like I use to. I am now reduced to sipping my water bottles rather than gulping and the line of work I do keeps me sweating constantly so it has been difficult staying hydrated but small steps to get to my goal is worth it.

Welcome I was sleeved on 3/18 and the ride has been interesting but good. I was nervous as well but that quickly fades. Hope everything goes smoothly with your surgery and good luck on your journey

Omeprazole capsules is what I take. 20mg seems to do it for me. You can find them in Walgreens or CVS or you can have them prescribed to you which is better cause you can ask for capsule form. My doctor told me that capsules were fine to take since they dissolve so quickly. Or you can break open the capsule and put the powder in some applesauce or pudding. Hope it works out for you.
